Hello all, I've been a lurker on here for a few weeks and thought I'd say hello! Thanks to this and the all about forum I am now smoke free, and have been for two weeks! I bought some of the e-lites from groupon and although they aren't brilliant - they have been my only form of nicotine since they turned up two weeks ago
I used to smoke about 20 rollies a day, and are loving the affects of not smoking analogues any more (my tongue is pink, lol!)!
This is a great thread, very inspirational. Thanks for all the lurker help x"Live each day as if it were your last and garden as though you will live forever"

Oh wow, that's brilliant to hear Pookie, that's 280 rollies you ain't had and it sounds like it's been a doddle as well as a potential life saver. Keep it up and don't hesitate to ask for advice if you want to beef up the battery life, no need to ever go back to the backy now :-) Well done!!!!11th Heaven prizes Number 103

Well done pookie, I am like you just hitting the two week mark, I have been using the gamucci mirco but with three batteries so no running out of charge and reaching for an analogue.
One thing I wonder is the weight of batteries of the longer lasting e cigs. I find the gamucci battery just heavy enough, I have pain problems so anything even what most would count as light can cause me pain. At moment hands not to bad, but the testing time for me will be when I get the hand pain, as an analogue could feel heavy ( not that it ever stopped me smoking) hurt in my hand and so am concerned about the longer life batteries, as when I go through that flare it can last months. Its pain is all over but will concentrate in one area for a while. Its I know me to well, any excuse and I will go and buy some analogues, so far not been tempted at all, my gamucci is fine but I know I am just a smoker who happens to have not had a cigarette, like an alcoholic who happens to have not had a a drink for years, but they know they still are an alcoholic.
Maybe if I had planned on stopping my head would be in the right place and I could think of myself as a non smoker, but I cannot, maybe one day.
I have bought myself some e-juice (gold and silver) and am using it to refill the cartridges - I have 24 used ones and just tried it today, its milder than the e-juice in the cartridges ( what gamucci call regular tobacco) but still enjoyable. Not sure about the nicotine if its less or more as bought 18mg stength liquid but the cartridges say 1.6mg strength. Have just put 12 drops in each cartridge as not sure how much to put in and don't want to waste it.
I have been reading the all about forum but not liked to post as everyone there seems to understand so much about e cigs and I feel my simple questions would be looked on in scorn as I have not any idea what vg, pg, a tank or things like that mean. Has anyone anywhere put up a list to explain the meanings of all things to do with e cigs.
Also is there any get togethers planned for this year, like their was in I think it was Tamworth last year, where I could go and try out different things, be so much better than trying to work out from the sites what would be best, especially for the weight issue as what to me feels heavy to others most likely would seem light.
I am hoping the cartridges I am refilling plus the unused ones will do me for quite a few months, but of course batteries might not last that long, but fingers crossed they will last long enough for me to decide what to move on to next or if worst comes to worst will just buy replacement batteries from gamucci.

I was a newbie just over 2 weeks ago and asked all sorts of 'stupid' questions on AAEC and everyone was really kind and helpful. At first it all sounds like a foreign language but everyone is so patient explaining what everything means.
I feel like you about smoking, i'm a smoker who has managed not to have one for 18days. I'm enjoying my e-ciggie though so should be able to keep it up. Because of all the good advice that I got I'm really happy with my purchases.
I don't find the bigger battery that much heavier and I hold it in a totally different way to a ciggie!
Don't be shy, pop across and say hello!0 -
i have been now free for 3 weeks (on monday) cigarette free....thanks very much to use of an e-cig (i have an ego riva)....start up costs including the juices and different cartomisers etc amount to about £60....but thats for about 6 weeks worth!...because i have all the kit now the cost will reduce
:j Well done fsdsstotal airhead, total bimbo, very superficial:D0 -
prepareathome, the Riva isnt that heavy, I have problems with arthritic flare ups in hands and wrists. I had a mini Titan 510 but found the battery wasnt too good for all day, continually having to charge it after approx 2hrs. I was humming and ahhring about buying something with a better battery and at first was put off by the look of the Riva, thought it would be too much for my hands.
I can say that the Riva is not too heavy, I have no difficulty with vaping, even when my hands and wrists feel stiff and painful, the button is easy to depress and it feels sleek and light in the hands:)
I'm a newbie on the all about forum and they dont laugh at any newbie posts, they are so helpful with any problems or queries you have about e-cigs, it was on recommendations there that I got my Riva kit.

PAT, it's like karma says, there are no stupid question on all about e, there really aren't and I can guarantee you that they have all been asked before.
And you do hold a bigger e-cig in a different way, you also vape it in a different way. You're probably holding it in your hand all the time. There's no need to do that with a bigger ecig, you take a vape, put it down, because you get a good hit and don't need to hold it all the time.
The weight is really not noticed.
There are some basic guides all over the place about the basics, but you know you can pm me any time with anything you want to know.
There are different sorts of tanks, but basically they hold alot more e-liquid than a cartomizer, so need refilling less often, they are simply a "tank" of liquid.
There was a brilliant description of Pg and Vg on Vapetv the other day, I'll see if I can find it.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

Thank you! Hadn't thought about how many I hadn't smoked, that's a huge number! Yeay!
The battery seems to last a day, not sure I vape that much. I've just got a delivery of a couple of the sd keyring ones, so very different to the e-lites. Will see how those go for a while.veronarona wrote: »I never miss a chance to poke my tongue out to myself in the mirror - it always cheers me up

ThisThe refill liquid contains mainly PG and/or VG, flavouring, and nicotine if required. PG is propylene glycol, an excipient that has been studied in detail for 70 years, and has a very large body of documented research with no recorded instance of death or severe harm being caused. It is of course used in asthma inhalers, the nebulisers used by lung transplant patients, and injectable medicines - as well as the disco fog machines that initially caused the choice of material. The alternative material, VG or vegetable glycerine (a misnomer since synthetic glycerine of pharma grade is also used), is in fact recommended for inhalation purposes over PG by some manufacturers. Dow Chemical, who supply it to pharmaceutical companies for inhaled medicines, recommend it for this purpose. It seems unlikely that materials with 70 years of problem-free data, or those used widely for inhaled medicines, would cause lung disease. PG is also a powerful bactericide and virucide even at low concentrations of the order of 2ppm - it has been used in hospitals for killing airborne pathogens. In one trial, over a period of years and with controls, it was shown to reduce infections in a protected ward by 95%. This included colds and influenza, which are caused by a virus, not bacteria. The flavourings used in liquid refills are normally approved food flavours such as coffee, caramel and chocolate, plus tobacco extracts for some types (those that replicate tobacco brands). Although it is unlikely that such flavourings could cause widescale disease, no doubt some individuals will prove intolerant to some flavourings.
Was here, which also has alot of other interesting reading.
