  • I only started with e-cigs a week ago having smoked almost constantly for 35 years and I did not want to give up I admit it I enjoyed smoking but I didn't like what it was doing to my family and knew I had to do something. So bought my e-cigarette and when it arrived finished the cigarettes I had and started using it and one week on I love it, it gives me the same enjoyment I had when smoking but hubby can now come in my room ( I spend a lot of time in bed) without coughing and finding it hard to breath and I know I no longer stink of smoke and boy has my appetite come back, I am starving a lot - already put on weight so now go to to deal with that, but totally no urge to smoke a real cigarette at all. I went to stop smoking clinic to have reading done just to see and it was zero just after a day, proof there is no noxious gas going into my lungs. They were 100% behind me using it and gave me some inhalator's just in case there is any time I don't have cartridges as have to buy them on-line, no shops I know of selling them and I don't get then tempted to buy real cigarettes, which I know only a week I have no urge at all to.

I would say if you are unsure before spending a fortune on full equipment buy a disposable one and see how you go - its usually equal to 15 -20 cigarettes for price of pack and see what you think - for me I have bought one particular type and the cartridges and I enjoy it, I know I can go down an even cheaper option and will do so once I really am a confirmed user - to easy to fall back at moment I know that so will stick to there for a bit, and so money wise am saving about half what I used to spend but I did of course by the e-cigarette plus the batteries ( bought a starter kit) so be two weeks tro make up that money then will be really spending half and hubby is happy as is family, and me yes am happy.

Once you have a decent E-cig - NOT one that looks like a cigarette; your running costs as a direct subsitute for a 20 a day habit are approximately £12 a week.

Also there are much more practical E-cigs than the ones that look like cigarettes. Most people start witha "cig-a-like" but find that they are either expensive to buy cartridges for or are literally tied to a charger. A typical cig a like run time is only 40 minutes to 1 hour whereas a "proper" e-cig will last 8+ hours, enough to last the day easily and some will last 24 hours. Check out my links in previous posts to where you can get help from a non affilliated source.

By the way, if you are concerned that you will put on weight if you take up e-cigs you can always get refill liquid that tastes of your favourite sweets, fruit, drink (including alcohol) and chocolate, many have found using these actually diminishes their cravings for these things and have consequently lost weight.

How are you doing today prepareathome? It sounds like your tastebuds have woken up with a vengeance now that you're a few days into not smoking. Keep a watch on your carbs as they're often the food that we snack on as it's so convenient. Stock up on some healthy snacks like small cubes of cheese, veg sticks with a dip like houmus or something and keep those handy in the fridge. They're good energy foods too that won't spike your blood sugar and make you keep craving snacky junk. I was eating like a mad thing about a week in as everything tasted so rich and intense - it has settled down now though and I'm being a bit more careful to make sure that what I put in my mouth has at least some nutritional value :-) Hope your pain isn't too bad and that you're feeling so so proud of your progress - you've done something really massive gal!

    Hi all.

I have been vaping now for 14 days, carbon monoxide is zero, bp has gone down and Ive had the stress of having a bone tumour ,benign, removed with a bone graft and have hardly wanted an analogue at all.
I am a very very happy bunny!!
    Good luck all!!
  • Jacci45 I am so happy for you that op went well and nothing bad found, what a relief and not slipping either you are doing wonderful.

Today I am still so hungry but been using crackerbread with very thin slices of cheese and fruit to fill myself - tomorrow going shopping so will ensure healthy things fall into trolley. I also found today I wanted an analogue but I refuse to give into the craving so have been vaping like mad whenever it hits and its hitting the spot. :rotfl:

I have been having a good look at the different options and trying to work out the best, on other forums they seem to go recommend one more than others and most who have said what they have used in past mention it - not sure if I can put name here.

I am planning on buying some e-juice and reusing the cartridges - took one apart and found it easy and didn't damage it, they are cartomisors (spl) and I have around 50 altogether with the ones unused as yet, so will buy some 10ml bottles to try out some different flavours ( still want tobacco flavour at moment).

Batteries are driving me nuts only lasting a couple of hours but at least I have 3 and two usb chargers so always have a charged one ready to go.

Hopefully tomorrow will not be a craving day with going out shopping as not sure if I would withstand it if I am in a shop that sells analogues, but that will be the real test, when I went shopping other day I had no craving for them so easy not to buy. I don't want to smoke another one. I have got this far and don't want to fall back and have to start over, so must remember that.

Have found Mr T sells a disposable one, different make but handy to know if for some reason my delivery takes a bit longer for replacements or juice, till I build up a stock, so no need to say oh dear no cartomisors or e-juice so must buy analogues ( I know me to well).

Its good to see doctors would rather we use these than continue to smoke so hoping it will help when they debate them next year.

so will buy some 10ml bottles to try out some different flavours ( still want tobacco flavour at moment).
Buy 5 or 3 ml bottles till you find something you like, it's much better.

You normally only need one vape to decide if you like or don't like a juice and that way you get to try more flavours.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.
  • Thanks friends, but I'm afraid for using this actually.

What are you afraid of Agate?
  • 15 days today:j

Bought some new e-juices yesterday which arrived today, currently trying a cherry brandy one, it is mmmmmmm, not at all drying in the mouth and it is what I'd call a "warming" vape, like brandy in the mouth.

Since using e-cigarettes I've not wanted to buy analogues, I can confidently walk past the cigarette counter in the supermarket and not think "oh I must get some cigs"

I agree with what Des says a decent e-cig does make all the difference.

Congrats jacci, so glad that all went well with the op and well done with the vaping, you should be so proud of yourself:T
total airhead, total bimbo, very superficial:D
