Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice please?
I've been using the VIP battery and cartridges for the last 6 months. However at £10 for a pack of 5 cartridges, it's pretty expensive....almost as much as when I was smoking real ciggies. 1 cartridge is supposed to be equivalent to 40 ciggies......no way is this true. I am getting through at least 1 a day when before I only smoked 10 cigs a day!!
Another problem is the rubbish battery life....it really only lasts a couple of hours.
Has anyone any experience of a more suitable ecig for me? I use the menthol flavour.....2.4mg nic. Preferably I would like to stick to an ecig that looks like a ciggie.
TIA :beer:0 -

You'll find lots of useful sources and info there, tailored to somebody who just wants a vape without breaking the bank.0 -
And if you had read the thread, I think you would find this has already been dealt with.
Also, most of the claims about "dangerous" or "poor quality" fluid components can be traced back to just one scary article, written from a pretty obviously US and anti e-cig viewpoint. Its findings havenever been replicated since!
I'm sorry. I didn't have a spare 4 hours to read it all.
Also, if you re-read my post you will see that I did not mention any claims. I pointed out the very real concern that there are few safeguards in place to guarantee the quality.I have no signature.0 -

Compared to the known killer ingredients in ciggies, I think I'll take my chances with e-liquids thanks very much.As one doctor has said, there are health & safety issues with pretty much everything in life but he likened smoking with e-cigs compared to real cigs to playing football with a ball, rather than a unexploded hand grenade...

If you want decent battery life plus cheaper liquids I can only recommend that you move away from the ciggie lookalikes and get something like the ego vapers. LT e-cigs have a blister pack for £13.20 and their liquids start at about £2.40 for 10ml (the cartomisers usually contain 1 or 1.5ml) You can actually flip out the white top of a cartomiser and drop in your own liquid by the way, but you have to be very careful not to get liquid into the centre. When I decided to move to e-cigs I, too, wanted something that looked and tasted like a real cig, but soon realised that those products just weren't good enough. When you get a proper vaper you won't be disappointed!! By the way, if you want to stick to a vaper that uses cartomisers, the SD Maxi Keyring is fantastic and cartomisers from the caveman site are £19.99 plus P&P if you buy 20 in one go.DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244

There don't seem to be any health risks known at this point with e-cigs, unless poor quality control causes problems, but that's possibly because it's a 'new' thing. E-cigs certainly seem a lot less harmful than the list of harmful chemicals in tobacco, and the lung clogging tar, and that can only be a good thing. Adding to that, there is very little second-hand smoke/vapour with e-cigs, and they don't make you stink like an ashtray.
I'd much rather see an adolescent 'vaping' than sucking on a cancer stick, but (for the moment at least) tobacco cigarettes seem to be 'cooler'.I have no signature.0 -

There are for a lot of people! Whilst the vast majority may have no issues some may have some quite extreme reactions to the juice ingredients.
Please see the PG vs VG base liquid debates on most vaping forums.
Then you have the additives for the flavours and also the nicotine itself.
All can cause non, mild or severe allergic reactions. The same named juice varies in exact make up from supplier to supplier and batch to batch.
Now once you are aware of these issues you can spot if you're having problems and make informed decisions.
It is very naive to suggest otherwise and nobody really knows what the long term effects of any of this will be.
Aromatherapy oils have been in use for donkeys years and although they're just smelly oils all have test for allergic reaction and a lot have a don not use whilst pregnant and not suitable for children under 12 warnings. Plus who can remember the mouth cancer causing skol (sp?) bandit nicotine lozenge.
I've just switched from RY4 to AV4 and am getting snot & mucus build up in my nose mouth and throat which would suggest on my reading a reaction to VG. I'm also getting a bit of gum degradation from the nicotine and both together coupled with the dehydration vaping causes are resulting in bad breath.
Saying that it could just be I've picked up a cold0 -
Speedfreek brings up a good point. An e cig should be viewed as an aid to giving up somking , or as a half way point to getting there.
Nicotine has effects on oral health, it decreases the immune system and blood supply to the gums and so is instrumental in making gum disease worse.
Any irritant in the mouth has the potential to precipitate mouth cancer eg shisha pipes , betel nut chewing etc.
E cigs are certainly alot better than cigarettes but they still affect oral health and should not be viewed as entirely benign, just less hazardous than cigarettes.0 -

Did you get that with tobacco smoking too, or do you think it's the make-up of the fluid?I have no signature.0 -

Thanks for this post. I have found that since switching to e-cigs I have become quite spotty. I presumed it was a detox from the real cigs, but have discovered in the last couple of days that the substance my dad is hugely allergic to is PG! Perhaps I am too?!! I think I need to look for liquids with a higher VG ratio, perhaps.DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244
