  • Admittedly I haven't read the whole thread but thought I'd throw my recommendation into the mix :)

I've been on e-cigs since a week before my wedding in April last year and haven't touched a real one since (nor do I want to). I started out with a cigarette lookalike which was a bit rubbish, then got a better quality lookalike and a couple of months ago I upgraded to an Inferno kit from Volcano ecigs and it's absolutely fab!

Looks a bit like I should play it rather than vape it but the battery lasts ages (easily 1.5 days). I'm currently using it with a replaceable coil system from Totally Wicked and that setup, with 50:50 VG/PG juice, is perfect for me (I'm not fond of tank systems).

I make my own ejuice - the supplies are pretty cheap and there are seemingly limitless flavours around. I reckon its cheaper than buying ready made liquid and I get exactly what I want. As I type I am currently vaping a rather tasty homemade mix of passion fruit, orange and apricot with just a hint of menthol :)
I don't like chick flicks, I get grazed knuckles doing my own car repairs and I ride a massive cruiser motorbike. To many this makes me a bloke in disguise but to my husband this makes me perfect

I want to move on to mixing my own ejuice, but I'll probably wait until I'm on 0% nicotine. I'm too scared of getting the amounts wrong with something that could potentially be dangerous in too high quantities. I also want to try different ratios of PG/VG as I think I might be a bit allergic to PG. Not sure yet!

That is a truly brilliant, helpful and friendly forum!! I think EVOD clearomisers are the way to go with my ego batteries. But I think I have enough now to last until next pay-day. Then just clearomisers and liquids only! I will resist the temptation to keep on buying different e-cigs and keep this as a cheaper alternative to smoking real cigs (on top of all the other up-sides!)

I'm new to all this and from reading the last few pages of this thread, it seems a whole lot more complicated that I thought!

I'm a very heavy smoker - I buy very cheap rolling tobacco and go through around 25g a day. I only smoke at home and in the car - what's the best starting point for me? Also I'm on a pretty tight budget.

I've just started too, and on a budget, investing a tenner (the set I suggest + 1 5ml liquid) will give you a good idea if vaping is going to help you.
here's a link to a chart that helps you choose the right liquid:
    http://allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/thread/87/liquid-strength-guide

A lot of people go for high PG content, or you could try 50/50 the first time (PG=more throat hit, like strong cigarettes do, VG=more vapour and more gentle on the throat).

if you like tobacco flavour a lot of people on the boards mention
    http://paradisevapeuk.vstore.ca/benson-fences-flavour-p-2.html
although I've not tried it myself yet.

this is vaping for starters in the simplest form, that's what I'm doing, then I'll upgrade to better kit if necessary, and I'm already trying different juices :-)

EDIT as it's been pointed out :), if you are a heavy smoker you may need to buy two, because the battery takes about two hours to recharge. And you' could buy two liquids, in case you don't like one of them.

I bought my partner a nice fancy, shiny starter set that cost about £55 and he's quickly abandoned it and nicked mine instead (which was a lot more basic!). I'm sure you will get lots of really good recommendations, but this is what he loves and to keep things simple I would recommend this:

    http://www.ltecigs.larsentilbrook.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=59_62&product_id=95

and some extra liquids. You need a set of two, because you need to have one to use while the other is on charge.

If you are a very heavy smoker, you might want to start at 24mg nicotine level, but that is very high and most moderate to heavy smokers use 18mg. It's totally up to you. As a guide, my partner smoked roll-ups pretty much non-stop all day, and a 10ml bottle of 18mg nicotine juice lasts him about 3-4 days. You think you will want the tobacco flavours, but do try a fruity or menthol/liquorice one - they are divine!

At the checkout, use the discount code LT10 for 10% off your order.

PS - with this kit and perhaps 3 x 30ml bottles of liquid, you will have a month's worth of e-cig heaven for under £50. 25g of tobacco has to be about £8 a day?

  • PPS, I have just had two of these arrive, which terra-ferma suggested:

    http://paradisevapeuk.vstore.ca/egoce5-blister-pack-p-536.html

£7 each, plus £1.50 P&P. Very good value! I haven't tried them yet though.

Two of those plus some juice would be a good start and cheaper than the set of two I suggested above. Sorry, I know it's all very confusing and I haven't helped much now have I :rotfl:

It's very confusing to know what matches what, and what liquid you need etc etc. When you start reading the forums, like the one recommended here, or others, there is so much information, so many different opinion on what is the best stuff, that it can be confusing. Someone recommended the kit and I went with that.

I can't say it's the best around, or the right one for everybody, but it's a great place to start and find out what works for you.

I looked at lots and lots of websites and could not find one that matches that price, even the clearomiser itself (the bit where you put the liquid, which you attach to the the battery) normally cost £4 or 5. Also it will last longer because on mine you can replace the coil (the bit that heats up and creates the vapour) instead of the whole unit (mine it's a CE5 model, CE4 means you can't replace it).

I agree about getting two batteries, I'll buy another kit myself, if you people don't end up buying them all ;)
