I just heard of a social work boss who started on e-cigs about the same time as me (10 months ago) and is now completely nic free. No e-cigs, no cigs, nothing. Took her over 6 months but just proves what can be done with e-cigs

I've been using a LT for a couple of weeks now - it's fantastic, but easy to run away with the amount of ejuice used. I fall back on the Egos when out and about as they're so much more portable.

I wrote an article recently about electronic cigarettes after doing some research... what I found out was interesting.

People seem to be seeing them as a smoking cessation aid, but they are definitely not... they haven't even been tested to the standards that would be required of a medical device.

Whilst I'm not saying whether they're good or bad - you should be aware of the facts before you start vaping!

What do you mean they are definitely not? While I don't disagree with most of the article that statement of yours isn't accurate at all.
Since starting to reduce my smoking, first with patches, then with e-cigs, my daily intake of nicotine has dropped. Sure, there are people who've taken to e-cigs full time simply as a straight alternative to smoking, but there are many, like me, who are on a nicotine ramping down strategy.
I spent exactly 40 years addicted to the fags and for the past several years stunk, coughed, wheezed and could hardly climb stairs. Since finally ditching the fags (after several months of reduction with patches) my overall health has improved dramatically and I'm well on my way to quitting fully - likely within a year.
I'm quite confident that even though the long term risks haven't yet been fully appraised, the consequences of a year or so of e-cigging will be as nothing to having carried on smoking.
So - an aid to quitting smoking?
Yes, definitely, if you want it to be.

I never considered using on to stop me smoking, I loved the whole thing about smoking but thought I would try one to help me at least cut down on the real cigarettes and took to them straight away so use them only now but as I still enjoy the full experience I know I will not be stopping them any time soon. To me they are a replacement rather than a smoking cessation product. I have cut right down on nicotine levels and hoping by end of year to be totally free of it but cannot see me stopping using my e-cig by then.

I would still rather use my e-cig than got back to real cigarettes as they still, to me, seem a safer alternative and I only buy from reputable companies which supply e-juice made here in the UK. Once free of nicotine I hope to just make up my own e-juice but to nervous to play about with undiluted nicotine and wear disposable gloves to fill up my cartomisers even now as I know how dangerous nicotine is, especially if it falls on the skin.

I know the ideal would be to give up completely but even my doctor wasn't on my back to stop as I have health problems that keep me in bed about 85% of the day - not chest problems or am sure they would have then been on at me to stop :) - so hard for me to take my mind of craving a cigarette.

Family are so used to me being a smoker that they have not got used to the fact that I now have not smoked for 6 months. Daughter was abroad and out of EU area so was going to pick up cigarettes for me as she usually does when like then further afield as so cheap until my granddaughter reminded her I do not smoke.

Well I've now moved up to a Riva and loving it, Mr A is still using the e-lites plus I got him some 510 look-alikes which should last hima bit longer. He intends to quit completely, so at least then I can use them out and about.;)

Thank you for the tip about the forum, KarmaCookie. It's definitely one of the friendliest and most supportive around. Just in case anyone else is looking for advice, here's the link (again) to it:

I dunno, if someone was writing an article about something and says they have done their research, you would have thought that they would have least have contacted a few people who knew what they were talking about in the field to which the article was written.

Anyone who has used an ecig for a few months and has read the forums for that time could have written a better article.

You don't know what you are talking about, fact.

I've had one for about a month, pricey for sure, but really really nice and not just the looks, the vape is alot better than my V1 lavatubes.
