Brilliant news, and yes it did seem the obvious way forward given they were all electronic accounts.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop Martin!

This is absolutely fantastic news and has made my weekend. I was starting to give up hope of seeing my money for months, even years. I just don't understand why this couldn't have been said 2 weeks ago! It took me, and a lot of fellow MSErs, all of about 2 seconds to work out that a quick way to handle compensation would be electronic bank transfers from frozen accounts.

    Yes, really "innovative".

I was expecting something involving owls descending down our chimneys, a la Harry Potter.

Ah well. It *appears* to be good news.

All we wanted was some sort of timescale, after all.

But I wonder where the cash is coming from...
  • I'll second the thanks to Martin. Hopefully this news will put a little colour back in his face. Now where is John Snow when you need him.:D

This is good news, and the FSCS have gone far above and beyond the call of duty on this one.

Now I trust we will see two or three hundred threads on this forum where all the people who were previously threatening action & complaining will now post an apology and message of thanks to the FSCS.

    No? Oh.
    Mmmm, credit crunch. Tasty.

    Just as well everything's sorted.
I've just heard that Icelandics have sacked the old Minister of Finance and replaced him with a mister Eukan Ferkov,
a very difficult man to negotiate with!

That's such good news and tbh it didn't take as long as I was expecting. Just got back from holiday, Xmas around the corner and all that so I'm well pleased. Just one thing, So, what am I going to now between 6 and 7 on a Friday evening? I was getting used to F5ing the FSCS page every 2 minutes.:T :T :T

    No? Oh.

Once I get my money I will happily apologise to everyone at the FSCS.

    But not until then.
  • Oh my word. Let me wipe the tear from my eye. I have been worried sick about this. My husband has just been given redundancy notice and I'm also being made redundant.
I am just so glad to see some light at the end of the tunnel and get my savings back. Thank you to everyone who has been posting over the last couple of weeks, reading that we are all in the same boat has been all that's kept me going.:T
    :kisses3: Everyday above ground is a bonus!!:D

Hallelujah! At first I was resigned to losing the lot ("only" about £10K, but a lot for me), then encouraged when AD made his statement, then resigned again the last few days when it all seemed to be going down the pan again, and now I'm back on the up slope of the rollercoaster.

If they want to do it by e-transfer and will preserve the ISA wrapper, then presumably I need to be setting up a new ISA somewhere for it to go into?
