New Kaupthing CHAPS/BACS Transfers discussion - Friday 24th October

  • Really fed up now! I rang Kaupthingedge on the 9th Oct to close my fixed account, the gentleman I spoke to take my details and told me he would do it for me.
I kept checking the account and the money disappeared on the 22nd October. So I thought it was going to be transferred into my linked account.
The money reappeared in my Kaupthingedge account plus interest earned on the 27th Oct.
So I rang them again to ask what was happening, to be told I had to transfer the money myself! Why was I not told this when I spoke to them in the first place? So the money went out and was missing for nearly two weeks before it reappeared again.
So I did a Chaps transfer and am still waiting…….what a complete nightmare

Sorry I didn't think your call back was in connection with having logged a complaint call on Friday.

Not very good going that only one person from this forum has had a call back and that was yesterday.

I have also received that email from Alastair Hemmings blaming the clearing bank.

Now it's all the clearing bank's fault.....which one?
I wonder what their response will be to being blamed?
Have they profitted from this fiasco?
There really should be an FSA inquiry into the causes of all this......and obviously you should all be compensated for the damage, not just lost interest.

Still supporting, and will continue to do so until all is sorted.

    Att Martin/Dan,

What are we supposed to do if ING breaks it's promise of finally informing us individually of where our money is and when we will receive it??

Thought I'd update you all - a BIG FAT NOTHING is in my account today. No response to my secure message I left on my KE website log-in. I've had no email from anyone, no phone call either. Am really despairing now. I fear next step is we end up going down some arduous, lengthy complaints 'procedure' (ie complain formally to KE, then get told to fill out another form for ING, then fill out another form for the FSA!!).

I will wait, like Ippy Lady said, for 11.30 - to phone my bank. Then ALL HELL IS GOING TO BREAK LOOSE!:mad::eek::mad:
Should I be emailing anyone personally?? including this Alistair Hemming guy?

As I take it from your previous post they informed you yesterday that all payments had not been made and they were still processing batches of CHAPS payments mainly from the 7/8th October. Is this correct?

    Yes, correct.
Re: that email from A. Hemmings, if it was the fault of the clearing banks, and it was held up there, I will need to know detailed information of this as I will be seeking compensation from lose of interest, so we will get to the truth eventually.

Remember that the CHAPS payments tend to start hitting linked accounts around mid-afternoon. That's what happened to me last Wednesday, and several others reported the same on other payout days.

I complained formally to both ING and the Financial Ombudsman a couple of days before I got my transfer. It was a waste of time. Neither is interested in anything you tell them. I don't believe that my payment had anything to do with the complaints. Nor do I think that my constant badgering of the KE helpline staff made the slightest difference to my payout; all they do is check that your transfer request was logged and then send messages off into the abyss from which nothing returns.
  • Unfortunately add me to the list. £11k+ left KE by BACS on Oct 7th and is still out there in the ether! "Helpline" tells me this morning, for the second time, details are with a manager who will contact me shortly!! I'm not holding my breath.
  • How have so many of you got your £20 chaps fee refunded? I can't even get a bl**dy response from them?

The CHAPS refunds will show up in your KE account, not your linked account.
