  • Is there any point at which this becomes theft?

This is our money they have. They are entitled to take a few days to hand it over after we've asked for it, but surely at some point it becomes theft?

True... Have checked... all my details are correct...
plus I have had chaps payments into my account, as recently as this time last year.

One thought... I dont think they 'do' have access to our accounts as such...
Just thinking back to my call, and the operator asked for the exact same details as you need for logging in..? email addy, memorable name, and three random characters from your password.
Do you think they are just using that to log into our accounts (via the net like we do) so they can see the correct amount? or am I being paranoid?

Yep because I logged in whilst on the phone to them and the operator was kicked out.

That did make me laugh! I feel almost guilty that I've already got a few relatively small amounts of money out..... Hope this won't go on much longer for everyone still waiting.Have to keep reading this thread to see how it all ends!

Well, logging off now, I am keeping everything crossed that by late afternoon tomorrow, I, and hopefully all others here waiting for our cash, will see a lot of movement. :)
  • For the record I initiated a BACS transfer on the 6th after 2 pm.
It showed up as having left on the 7th, but no sign of it yet.

No! it is not theft. Kauphing Edge went bust and we all lost our money. It was protected by the FCSA, under normal circumstances the FCSA would have sent you a form to fill in to claim your savings. In this case however the UK treasury, who would have had the fund the FCSA as they have no money, stepped in, (this body was set up with the notion that no one would ever need to make a claim, who ever heard of a UK bank going bust) seized the funds and sold the savings section to ING for I believe £500.000000. This reduced their liabilty of around 2.5 billion by 1/5th. plus what they can salvage from KE now it is in administration.
At the end of the day, as I make it out our money is underwritten by the FCSA. It is however in a total mess, but we will get it back at some point.
Chaps requested 8th October : money left my account 8th October : £20 chaps fee deducted : destination account Halifax : Chaps fee of 20 re-funded to my KE account 27th October but dated 8th October: On the spreadsheet and received generic e-mail 29th October. Funds paid to my linked account 4th November

Just got home and was greeted by a call from KE saying that I should receive my cash by close of business tomorrow!!!
I asked why it wasn't here by last Friday, was there an explanation, she said it wasn't by name, but said that the 7th/8th payments were backlogged and were being done in batches and the batch that mine was in had been signed off and should reach my account by tomorrow.
Can't wait for tomorrow, hope you are all getting your telephone call backs, and receiving some welcome news, just now waiting for the cash to hit my account :)

They broke our bonds as requested and eventually the money reappeared in the KE savings accounts, so we transferred it to our link account on Thursday 23/10 - now disappeared from KE but still not appeared in our linked account.

Well - there's a surprise. My email has been bounced back saying that it is an invalid email address. Strange - because it's the email address that AH himself has contacted me from previously.

Alistair - when you read this please respond on this website and get the ING statement updated.
If anyone can tell me his new email address I will try again
