New Kaupthing CHAPS/BACS Transfers discussion - Friday 24th October

I took 3 days, so I would say it’s BACS but I think they have done a special deal to get them labelled CHAPS for some reason. BACS are free.

Please forgive me for saying it, but that sounds slightly conspiracy-theory to me. Even if it's possible for a bank to do such "special deals" (which I doubt), the fact that ING Direct are still behind on paying their KE withdrawals, plus the fact that they've just been bailed out by the Dutch government, makes me think that ING are not in the best position to make those sort of "special deals" right now.

It doesn't surprise me to see evidence that CHAPS transactions can bounce. It would surprise me even more to find that they can't bounce, despite what people say about them being supposedly "unstoppable".

As always, I do hope everyone has their money tracked down and returned to them soon.

Just rang up ING and gave them my details - seemed like a complete waste of time. Why on earth are the administrators not working over the weekend ??? If we have a load of orders on where I work, we do overtime to get the backlog sorted. It just seems as if ING et al aren't really bothered by this whole mess.

Second CHAPS (GF's) 7/10 No contact yet ! (Why am I not surprised)

If there's one good thing that's come out of this over the past 2/3 weeks, it has stopped me/us putting any money in the FTSE 100

It could even be Tuesday. If they did indeed spend all day Thursday making the transfers and it seems to me that they used BACS, not CHAPS, as nobody received money on Friday, then those done in the afternoon will not reach the linked account until Tues.
