An Irish policeman in Liverpool found a dead horse in Cazneau Street.

Not being too sure how to spell Cazneau Street he dragged the beast into Lime Street.

Just thought I'd let you know I'm Irish; really! ;)

Based on the average for the 19 that would be approx £1.9 Million in total.

They obviously are stoppable dag, otherwise people would't be without their money. It would appear that the CHAPS transfers have been the biggest problem throughout
I am the one that said CHAPS cannot bounce. Iam 99.9% sure that once a CHAPS entry is made it cannot be retrieved and it cannot be accepted without funds readily avaialble. However, just because you requested a CHAPS from your bank, that is not a CHAPS entry. When the bank submit the transfer to the CHAPS system is the entry point from then on it cannot be retrieved. So what I am saying is although it might show as a CHAPS transfer on your statement, that means diddly squat unless it was actually entered into the CHAPS system by KE/ING.
  • Thanks for the update hometune - the list does seem to be growing.

I spoke to the KE call desk this morning - very pleasant lady took my details and admitted that it was all in the hands of the administrators and they (KE) could do nothing with ING being similarly blindfolded. She guessed all the money if sent was by BACS because of the failure of the CHAPS system but was only guessing. Told to check my bank account (Duh!) and phone again on Wednesday if the cash still had not appeared.

Is all the money from CHAPS on the 7th 8th?
This would be about the time KE went into administration, but before the announcement.

My understanding is with CHAPS transfers the cash goes into a holding account until it is manually processed? Could it be the cash in this account that the administrators have frozen because it is neither in the depositors KE accounts nor forwarded to the depositors linked accounts.

I do hope this theory is wrong!

Chaps requested 4.00am on the 8th processed on the 8th still MISSING!!
    ING/KE Debacle
    8/10 CHAPS to Barclays
    31/10 MONEY ARRIVED

An old man and his wife have gone to bed. After laying in bed for a few minutes the old man lets out a loud fart and says "one-nil."

His wife rolls over and asks, "What in the world was that?"

The old man says, "A goal. I'm ahead one-nil."

A few minutes later the wife lets one go and says, "Goal! One all." The old boy farts again. "Goal! I'm ahead 2-1."

Now starting to get into this the wife quickly farts again and says, "Goal! 2 all."

The old man tries to fart again, but cannot. Trying desperately not be out done by his wife, he gives it everything he has to get out just one more fart. He strains a little too hard and !!!!!! in the bed. The wife asks, "Now what in the world was that?"

The old man replies, "Half-time, switch sides!"

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I'm sorry gang I know it's pre-watershed but I thought this was really really funny !!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

That is right, it would go into a holding account until a bank clerk (whatever they call themselves now) manually checks and enters. They do this manual check with CHAPS for a double sanity check for the very reason that once it is entered, it is final. So if something is wrong, it's to late. That is how they also justify the fee because of the manual intervention - the actual entry doesn't cost them anything like that amount.
