Hi, i have been following this thread intently recently and just thought i'd contribute my piece. Having only had a small amount placed in KE/ING i left my savings untouched until this week, but following this link has made me increasing wary. I withdrew the vast majority from my ING and KE accounts (separate) on monday by BACS. I recieved both today, the ING money arrived first thing as a 'transfer' and the KE money arrived after lunch as a 'CHAPS'. Whether this has any signficance, i'm not sure...but thought it was interesting having read that many people have been told by KE that they do not have access to chaps or that the chaps system is down. And also that i sent it as BACS and recieved it as CHAPS.

CHAPs of requested 7th October still outstanding. Can't get any verabl or written commitment as to when I am going to see my money despite many logged phone calls to Kaputhing Edge & ING and going to the Ombudsmen & FSA. Can't wait any longer for my money as I need it to pay off other credit debts now payable.

I have been unable to get any personal commitment other than the empty promises off approx. 2 weeks ago as to when I would see my money. Therefore for an FSA regulated bank that has to be unreasonable and therefore negligent.

I have decided to seek a County Court judgment which will cost £210 but I'm claiming that back as part of my overall claim. The more you claim the higher the fee.

Suggest if enough people decide to act similarly, then they will pay all oustanding monies to avoid the risks of mounting costs.

    I have also contacted my local MP as this debacle was partly caused by a Government decision to seize the assets of what was a fully registered UK bank and turn it over to a foreign bank without guaranteeing UK savers money would be paid promptly. Look your's up at;

    Hi fredthrung,

I've been waiting (hopefully) for some new information, and have been told that any new statements will be posted to this discussion as soon as ING have them.

I've felt that posting without any new details at all is a bit disappointing for people, but am happy to do so if people feel this helps? My posts from yesterday and Monday included anything we knew extra t those points in time. Either way, I am following this very closely so please don't fear that we have forgotten you.

    Dan

Thanks for the response Dan. And I've had my money back so I guess I should really keep quiet. BUT: I said (quote): "what contact you have had with ING and what the response is"
If you have been in touch with them what have you said? When? What have they said? When?
    • Are you being proactive on behalf of those waiting?
    • Why don't they update their web site (since Thursday last week)?
    • Why don't they say what is happening?
    • What do they say when you ask them these questions?
I acknowledge that it's difficult for the MSE team to stir too much because you depend on the financial institutions for your income. But you (plural "you" - MSE team) do have some duty to keep your audience in the picture don't you?

"Waiting (hopefully)" doesn't hack it I'm afraid.

And where is the ING spokesperson?
CHAPS out 8 Oct KE - received 20 Oct A+L
    Still here for moral support.

Just had a look to see if the Prime Minister's Office is contactable by email. Apparently it normally is but they are currently off-line due to making some improvements to the process! His office can be faxed though. Don't have a fax myself but thought I'd mention it. fax no. 0207 925 0918

He will probobly come out with all the usual spin. I quote. "95% of savers have been re-united with their money, it is just a small 5% who are having problems. I would like to add, that we are doing everything possible to bring this to a satisfactory conclusion"
Chaps requested 8th October : money left my account 8th October : £20 chaps fee deducted : destination account Halifax : Chaps fee of 20 re-funded to my KE account 27th October but dated 8th October: On the spreadsheet and received generic e-mail 29th October. Funds paid to my linked account 4th November
  • Money arrived in linked account this afternoon - a CHAPS that has :j taken since 8 October. So shocked, I don't know what to do with it now!! Thanks for help and backup from this site:j

  • Hi Fred,

We really honestly know there are still significant amounts of money and people caught in the system, and can tell you

    1) We have spoken to ING 2/3 times a day for the past fortnight

    2) Most times when we ask for updates the answer is that the remaining payments are slowly going through, everyone should call the phone number and get logged (as I posted yesterday) as they would hope for cases to be sorted 48 hours after that. As we have seen, this hasn't been the case, and I am currently chasing up info on why that is the case

    3) I have no idea why they aren't posting more updates, but we do encourage them to post more on this thread, and have been told they will post any new info when they have it.

I have posted on the thread at least once a day, and really hope this is a help. Am also really sorry we can't give any more info.

One thing it is crucial to say is about this
I acknowledge that it's difficult for the MSE team to stir too much because you depend on the financial institutions for your income. But you (plural "you" - MSE team) do have some duty to keep your audience in the picture don't you?
Our income has no bearing on what we ever write, least of all in this situation. The way this site makes money is linked to from every page on the site. ING have a massive technical procedure to carry out, and no pressure from any media outlet is going to make them do this quicker. We are, and will continue to provide as much info as we can.

I really don't want this post to be negative, or detract from the focus of this thread which is giving as much info as we have or can get to people still waiting for Kaupthing transfers. You, and everyone else are doing a great job of supporting each other, and all I can say is keep it up, and I promise we will too.

Well folks for the first time KE have kept a promise and called me back following my posts on page 58. It wasn't the chief I was promised but the team leader I spoke to this morning who said they had been in touch with the department handling the problem cases and that my transfer had been located and addressed with a payment now scheduled as part of a large batch for tomorrow and arriving in my account on Friday or at the absolute latest Monday. Her name was Sarah and whilst my faith may prove to be misplaced I did actually believe her. If you have not phoned the number yesterday or today I suggest you do urgently as it seems they screwed a lot of logged calls up on Fri/Sat and you may not be on the famous 'spreadsheet'. Fingers crossed and good luck to everyone for this Friday... I doubt anything will happen before.

I spoke to Sarah today too.......just said that I would get a call tomorrow..or an email....but my Friday and Monday calls hadn't been logged...hence I wouldn't hear anything til tomorrow.....mmmmm!
    I have money!!!!:j :j :j :j 31st October 3.30pm. Organised by nice lady from E & Y, very, very grateful.

    £20 debit for CHAPS received 27th - dated 7th on A/C
