  • Latest from my phone call to KE. Take it with whatever size pinch of salt you feel you need to, but it at least sounded partly credible.

spoke to a Jade. This is my 3rd phone call to them, one on Sat, one on Monday and now this one.

She checked to see that I was "on the spreadsheet" (j***s, spreadsheets....? I know others have mentioned but...).

She told me I would receive my phone call from them by either 8pm today or tomorrow morning. Yes, but I've been promised that before, why should it be different this time? (politely...I don't think the KE staff here are the problem per se).

Well they are working through the logged calls in date order (date order of the logged calls, not the payments). Different spreadsheets for different days (still aghast at mention of spreadsheets). They have just completed working through Friday's, and are now starting on Saturdays (i.e. my first call).

Of course I'm now expecting a whole load of posts to say they logged their calls with KE on Friday and haven't yet received their call back.

BTW, as per my post on Saturday morning, this does emphasis that if you are waiting on payment and haven't logged a call with them probably nowt is going to happen until you do. But I assume by now that everyone who has missing payments has called them (and by the way I used the non 0845 number).
  • I can't believe that some of you are being asked for passwords by ING; that goes against all safe practices by any other bank.

At first I thought that it was harmless as the money can only go to the linked account, but what if someone used the compromised password to change the linked account?

    What a bunch of cowboys!!
  • Im going for it ....

and have sent the following email to the media. If you user name is in the list, it might be helpful that you SEND A FOLLOW UP EMAIL TO THEM (bcc them). That would get their attention and help them (the media) understand the gravity of this situation.

KE/ING have NO authorization, NOR the power to hold our monies at will. Their actions are bordering a criminal act. My letter below:

    Dear Sir or Madam,

There is a group of people, including myself, that have their monies' held up by KaupthingEdge/ING Direct's clearing bank for over three weeks with no clear explanation or deadline as to when we should be receiving our funds. Many of us have received an email from them yesterday, 28 October, explaining that "we are working with the clearing bank to release your payment in the quickest possible way so the funds are available to you as a matter of urgency." We have waited patiently for over 3 weeks and all we get is an open ended solution – we will get our money… one day.

Further questioning as to why it's been held up are quickly answered by a confusing let's-blame-others game that sounds like this "KaupthingEdge (KE) is and has been run by administrators since it was bought by ING, the administrators (Ernst & Young) are in control of everything. We, KE, just do as we're told by the administrators."

A large number of KE depositors have received their monies on KE's own imposed deadlines on October 17 and October 24. The last few of us are left completely in blank. KE/ING actions are bordering a criminal act. They have no authorization, nor the power to hold up our monies at will.

Some of us have gathered in MoneySavingExpert.com forum to help and support each other. At last count (today, 29 October) 92 users have their money help up. The sum held up for 44 of us GBP1.1 million. Below is the list of the 92 users.

An investigation from the media or some media coverage would be very helpful.

Please feel free to contact me if you need more information.

  • Anyone else with my problem?
When I access my KE account and tell it to confirm transfer of money to my "home" account, it freezes every time.
Spoke to KE, who say it shouldn't be doing that, as there site is working fine, but can offer no solution. They advised I speak to my isp and ask if the page is being blocked by them! Isp say no...
Spoke to ING Direct who say they can do nothing about it as the transfer of accounts is not complete and could take weeks.
Spoke to KE again and was told only way to get my money back was to close the account, but refund could take MONTHS!!!!
Contrary to Martin's words, the ING logo is not displayed at the bottom of the KE web page and no-one knows why this is....
So I can't get my money and no-one can tell me why!
    Any ideas folks?

Have followed up on Carlostk and Zaphod's media emails with the following email bcc-ed to the addresses they suggested.

I understand that you will have received the email below and would support the veracity of that email (I am the Kdm on that list).

In addition to the illegal with-holding of funds, Kaupthing Edge/ING seem incapable of dealing with the issue - I called 2 days ago and was told that someone would follow this up with me today - and when I called today, they had no record of my previous call and no action was been taken with my case.

I would appreciate any attention you could bring to bear on this situation - to inform savers at large that both Kaupthing Edge and ING are not currently behaving like reputable institutions dealing in good faith.

    Sincerely,

I’m just thinking out loud and probably teaching my grandmother to suck eggs but here goes anyway:

When contacting the various authorities, please tell them the story, right from day one about the failed transfer.

Keep a log of all communications, emails and phone calls with their replies and pass this on to them.

Mention that this is your life savings, not just a washing machine or three-piece suite.

Contact your local MP and the Treasury, they took us from the frying pan and dropped us into the fire.

    Good luck all.
