It's not as good as the B & Q thread!0

As I said in my previous post this is not the policy in my Tesco. I don't know about the self service tills as I don't use them, but on the staffed tills coupons are rejected by the computer if the item hasn't been purchased.DailyClicker wrote: »I'll give you an example:
- Tesco sell 200 Mitchum deodarants in a week
- They are unlikely to receive 200 coupons for this product, as many customers buy the product without using coupons
- Therefore, Tesco can afford to let you use that coupon for which ever product you like
- The policy(guidelines) from Head Office states that you can pay for ALL your shopping using the coupons if they are ALL different and in date
So therefore the customer gains, Tesco gains, but the manufacturer looses a little.
No, the manufacturer loses a lot. They have to reimburse Tesco every time a coupon is used without the benefit of a sale. Again, as I said in my previous post, why should they be expected to repeatedly subsidise someone who is not even their customer?0 -

But, the least they could give me, was a reason.0 -

Firstly, I don't know what Tesco's you go to or how they are scanning your coupons, but I believe every Tesco has the same system in place, and I haven't heard of that problem on the Tesco Coupon thread, as a lot of Tesco stores support this policy.
Secondly, well why would Tesco's have such a policy? Are they the greedy ones, wanting customers custom, and taking money off the Manufacturer?
So easy to say I'm the one committing fraud, but do you not think what Tesco's do is worse! At least Tesco's permit me to do this, but I'm not sure if the Manufacturers permit Tesco to do what they are doing.0 -
You might get a better response and more help over at the forum on the "paid to shop" website!
Hope you feel better soon.0 -
Waitrose happily take coupons for any item as long as they stock it (you don't have to purchase it) - you can give them as many as you like and the staff are polite. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0

Obviously your belief is mistaken as the staff in my Tesco regularly hand back coupons that won't scan because the item hasn't been purchased.DailyClicker wrote: »Secondly, well why would Tesco's have such a policy? I see, so to knowingly buy a stolen mobile phone in a pub is acceptable because the person who stole it was worse and has 'permitted' someone to buy it :rolleyes:0 -
I was not aware of this!! But thank you for the information. Definately something to look into :beer:Dustykitten wrote: »Waitrose happily take coupons for any item as long as they stock it (you don't have to purchase it) - you can give them as many as you like and the staff are polite.0

Thanks to R4pture, for collecting this information.TESCO COUPON POLICY
Tesco Coupon Policy
HI all
Please find below the policy that my local supervisor in Tescos gave to me last week after it was reissued to all stores (or so she said) She'd been keeping an eye out for me coming in and gave me a copy to keep with the email I take in should I have any problems using coupons.
Hope this helps.

ASDA COUPON POLICY
From: "Lucy Robinson" Sent: Wed 07/05/08 1:21 PM
To: <r4pture>Subject: Response from ASDA (Ref #000000019540738)Thank you for your message.I'm sorry to hear you were refused to use the internet coupon.I've looked at the policy and here is what it said:Internet Coupon Acceptance The 21st century method is to make available coupons via the internet rather than manually distribute paper coupons to households. We do accept coupons that are downloaded and printed from the internet (not photocopied once printed). Stores need to know that the same stringent conditions apply to internet coupons as the old style manufacturer coupons:-¤ The coupon is in date and has not passed the expiry date ¤ They are not specific to different retailer (Not ASDA e.g. Boots) ¤ We stock the product All accepted internet coupons attract the usual handling charge which becomes store income. One temporary rule which remains current policy until a more comprehensive policy is formulated is: -Only one internet coupon per product item in any single transaction - unless the customer actually buys the product in multiples and the amount of coupons tendered corresponds with the same amount of items purchased. The above does not include Kiosk
I suggest you print this off and show this to the customer service manager so they are aware of this policy however I'm disappointed they don't already know.thanks again for your email.Kind RegardsLucy RobinsonASDA Service

Thank you for your message.Thank you for your email.I have now received a call from the Nottingham store.- ASDA do accept internet coupons.- As long as we stock the product you don't have to buy it to us the coupon.- The limit of the amount of coupons that can be used is down to the stores discretion, for example, if your shopping comes to the amount of £50 and you would like to use £30 in vouchers this would not be possible in most cases.- Coupons can only be used in the ASDA store, not the petrol stations.- All ASDA stores do accept internet coupons however, the amount that can be used is down to stores discretion. Thanks again.Lucy RobinsonASDA Service Team----
