Banned from Tesco - 'Misusing Coupons'

I work there !!!!!! and know the police alot better than you!
if you have an issue with me take it to PM
I agree with you to an extent. All these coupon policies are at the local branches discretion. That is why there are so many discrepancies.
In my area I have at least 25 supermarkets (including 5 Tesco's) in a 5 mile radius fighting for market share. The coupon policy is a lot more lax. However I always use valid coupons and very seldom internet ones. If I was to be banned I'd go elsewhere quite happily.

Store could not ban any individual for trying to give coupons as a method of payment to a SA.
As its the SA (Tesco) decision to take them and what is allowed. Why i always go to an SA.
D.edna its just your replies are full of 'i know it all'... yet we have irrefutable fact/evidence that alot of us are following the tesco policy as posted here... weekly with no issues.
If the policy was so strict as yours, there would be no confusion, no coupon use... and its coupon use would be like sainsburys... non-existant. Tesco have taken coupons since the last recession i believe...0 -
Basically, its the same but with these extra ammendments
- The store manager can decide the amount of coupons to be accepted (none tesco ones)
- Self scan coupons need to be approved by staff and processed by them
- The store can refuse any coupon at anytime without notice
Yeah, that's fine but what I posted was a reminder of the KEY POINTS. If they were a decent manager or staff member, they would give a good reason for the refusal. Not just because they don't want to.
There is no mention of your views that you can only use coupons for products used, and that 60% off total bill is classed as abuse?
This needs to be cleared up.0 -

I normally do my shopping using the manned tills, instead of the self-checkout.
But I assumed for two items, it wouldn't be a problem going to an empty self-checkout.
I've learnt my lesson thoughStore could not ban any individual for trying to give coupons as a method of payment to a SA.

Can you not get a family member to go in and buy the stuff whilst you wait in the car?0

Its been interesting reading this thread. I used to use coupons at Tescos - depending which SA you went to depended on what they took. Some would take just 3 coupons for stuff you hadn't bought. Some would take coupons less than 50p. Some would take not over 10% of your bill.....and this was at the same store! The thing that stopped me using them was I handed some coupons to the SA and said "I'm not sure which of these you are allowed to take, could you let me know". He took the 3 largest and gave the rest back to me. The last one wouldn't go through and he checked with another SA. She took all 3 coupons back and ADDED them back to my bill and said they were all over £1!! I was so embarrassed, I've never done it again since!! She said it so loud that everyone could hear! It would just be nice if customers knew where they stood. As it goes to show above - different policies fly around and even the SA's don't know what's going on.
I do think its a bit harsh to be banned from Tescos for using a couple of coupons twice in a row. Surely the SA or store manager could have just politely told the OP that in their particular store they do not take these coupons.0 -
Hi DailyClicker,
I agree with you, it's not fair that the manager won't speak to you, you have the right to speak to a manager if your not happy with her banning you. I would go into the store and ask to speak to a manager immediately, if not go to a different Tesco's. I use vouchers at the self service all the time in tescos and have had no trouble before.
Hope that helps.0 -
A written complaint would have to be looked at though surely, and a response given even if in the same vein?No chocolate, cosmetics or clothes to be bought before xmas day 14! ~ NPower eBay target £541.670
