    Hi Guys

I’m Kelly Sykes and I am a business energy consultant for E.ON Energy. I am currently offering no obligation quotes to businesses that have been affected by E4B going into administration. I am providing quotes for both electricity and gas. I would like to see if E.ON could save you some money and give the business some energy saving advice. If you would like to discuss how your business currently uses its energy and what changes, if any, you’d like to make in the future then please contact me on the details below as this would allow me to recommend the best plan to suit you. I’m here to provide you with one point of contact for all your business energy needs and help to make things as easy as possible for you, as we have some great energy plans that can be tailored to suit the way your business uses energy.

That's unbelievable, it's about equivalent of saying 'this will not affect your statutory rights'......:rotfl:

I'm not sure what you are saying here. In broad terms, irrespective of how long the customer has been with E4B, the customers would be in more or less the same position with their new supplier even if that new supplier was someone other than British Gas Business.

E4B customers will move to BGB on a "Deemed Contract" - the rate they are on will be significantly higher than a contract rate, BGB themselves say, "...your supply will continue on the basis of a Deemed Contract. We will be contacting you over the next few days to discuss competitive supply options...You do of course have the option of going to an alternative supplier but we are sure that the contract options we will be able to provide will be extremely competitive."

    Hi DS-2,

I just mean that current wholesale prices are lower now then they would be if you have signed an annual contract within the last 6 months (or rolled over on to a contract).

No need to apologise, I am sure that there will be many opportunities in the months to come for disgruntled SME E.ON customers to spam you with their complaints about the service they are receiving :T .

It's so helpful that you have made your email address and telephone number public domain :rotfl: .

I'm only guessing, but I'd be surprised if what you've done hasn't broken a Company Policy

    chrisrufc, thanks for the explantion.
  • I took out a contract with E4B in March. :cry:I have contacted one broker who gave a price from Scottish and Southern but decided to see what British Gas came up with. They rang me today - they said that if I decided to go with another supplier it could take 8 weeks to complete the transfer!! I think this is almost bullying me into taking a contract out with them as until I am transferred I will charged the higher, out of contract rate which they did not tell me what that would be. What I don't like is being put under pressure by both British Gas and the broker - if you don't decide now you will pay out of contract rates/prices might go up/ can only offer you this rate today. I do not want to make another wrong decision. All this when like is hard enough for small businesses - we are a 28 seater seasonal cafe. One other thing - I have been paying by DD and I asked what would happen if we had underpaid/overpaid - was told by British Gas that as contract void if owed anything would not have to pay and if overpaid well I have lost that!! Would be interested to hear of anyone else who has been contacted by BGB.
  • You don't have much choice unfortunately as this is the way it works when Ofgem has to nominate a Supplier of Last Resort.

British Gas has been your supplier since 1am today. If you agree a contract with them then you get their contract rates from the day you agree it. If you want to change supplier then BG will bill you on deemed rates from today until your new supplier takes over.

The industry standard for a transfer is 4-6 weeks so how long you stay on BG's deemed rates depends on how quickly you make a decision and how quickly your new supplier processes the application for your supply.

Well if they are treating you this way at the start of your relationship with them, do you think it will get any better?

There will be suppliers offering E4B customers quick registrations. You aren't in a contract with BGB, so BGB can't object for the usual gamut of contractual reasons.

Go direct to other suppliers and see what they have to offer.

    - for information, when you speak with E.ON ask them about the process you would have to go through to terminate the contract at the end of the "fixed" period. The last time I looked, they were getting stick about it from a number of quarters - maybe they've had a change of heart and altered it, maybe Ofgem have suggested they amend it... Maybe the E.ON rep can clarify ;)

I'm not suggesting E.ON's terms are any worse or better than any other supplier - I'm just "balancing the books" because E.ON are represented within this thread.

For information, questions such as the one I suggest above are questions that the industry "watchdogs" suggest should be asked.

I agree if you have overpaid E4B then you are unsecured creditor and you are unlikely to get anything back.

If you have underpaid then it's likely that someone acting on behalf of the receivers of E4B (pricewaterhousecoopers) will be contacting you with regard to paying your debt!

As we all know now that E4B HAVE GONE BUST, and all ex-customers require to be supplied either with the appointed BG or they change to another.

I think the most important thing to Ex-E4B customers is the
    TERMS AND CONDITIONS.

I have been looking through a few prospective suppliers and the T&C's range from one page in very small print barely intelligible, to 13 pages that when you have finished reading them you have unwittingly changed faith !!

does anyone know of a supplier who has terms like :-
    'x' pence per KWH
    FOR six/twelve MONTHS
    PAYMENT DIRECT DEBIT
MINIMUM 30 DAYS NOTICE TO CHANGE
each 6/12 month contact to be confirmed with a signed acceptance.
any arrears at contract end charged at 3% above base until cleared.
Customers CANNOT be stopped from changing supplier at term end.

This way suppliers will have to look after customers or they will move.
Customers will have to pay suppliers (complete) or they will just end up in small claims court with costs.

It seem to work in most business dealings, its worked with me for 26 years.
I know this seems very simplistic, but maybe thats whats needed, something simple.
If you weigh more than the space you take, You will sink !.
  • Hi everyone, i have switched from E4B now, no thanks a BG advisor. They called me the day after i swopped- and posted some info on this forum- to tell me that if i did not take up their offer in 7 days i would be paying much higher rates for atleast 1 year!!

Ignore these idiots, i checked with my broker and Ofgem have clearly stated anyone in an old E4B contract is free to leave and join any new supplier as long as your bill with E4B is pain in full. Make sure you shop around and look for deals though,as the BG rates from next month with probably be really high!!

I used ESP brokers,a guy called nathan, they swopped me over to Haven power no problem- despite the lurid threats from BG!! There number is 0151 236 0099.

Hope this has helped anyone lese that has received nasty calls from BG over the last few days:j
