  • what happens if customer were in credit to these energy bandits?????

Join the queue of creditors I'm afraid
  • I hope the OFT and fraud squad can put these people in jail as a warning to others who mis-use position of power.

Waterwalker, are you on some kind of medication? It appears that your dealings with Electricity 4 Business have certainly removed your ability to think rationally.

Do all directors of failing companies deserve to be locked up? If your previous comment is any thing to go by it looks like thats your opinion.

Companies in all business fields call in Adminstrators everyday many fail becasue of bad management, some because of outside forces and some because of crooked dealings. E4B appear to have fallen on their own sword and have taken risks that have cost them dearly.

If poor judgement is reason to lock anyone up then I reckon about 60 million people in this country should be behind bars

"Imagine if every person out there had to pay all the agents I have listed above"

It would ceraintly be a lot cheaper not having to pay the middle men rigging the market. I would also be able to take to the generators for example and ask for example gas companies why they were charging such high prices when energy prices worldwide had halved.

I could also switch to an electricity company which was not using over priced gas.

You really think you could organize all those payments? And that everyone else in the country could too?! The admin costs of these agents would easily quadrouple (v. conservative estimate) in any case due to having to send out circa 30 million bills instead of 50 or so - and you would be paying a lot more than you are now. So it would in fact certainly cost a lot more! But you're welcome to join the masses who like to complain about everything and everything :) Electricity and gas suppliers do make money off you, but then so does every other company out there - well the successful ones anyway.

I won't bother trying to explain to you why prices haven't come down - Robert Peston tried to do that on his blog on the BBC and almost every reply was people forming their own opinion on the matter, choosing to ignore the comments from the suppliers that Robert has quoted as they thought that all supplies are greedy evil profiteering bandits and such like. Some people are just overly opinionated and refuse to accept any opposing point of view.

No, but their liability shouldn't be limited until they've lost the shirt off their back. They should have to give evey last penny of their personal fortunes to their staff and creditors.

    Hello 'broker'!
My medication is fine thankyou, its called 'TRUTH' I have been in business 26+ years and always paid my bills, and still doing so.

From your comment you think it right that people can start a business, trade illegaly and then pass the cost to others, either insures, banks, creditors and the small customers that trade legally and do honest work for profit.

Yes, I will stand on my soap box and preach.

There are many people reading this thread and I will not be drawn into stupid arguments. You have read the thread and know the story, it may be wise for you to take heed of what has happened.

There are more honest people in the world than dishonest, that is why you get a good feeling inside when you have helped someone. It is a nice thing to do.
These people set out to make a quick buck, ask their ex-employees, who have just lost their jobs.

If you are a director of a company, you have taken on responsibilities both to suppliers and customers and employees. The main share holder in E4B is quite well off, even with a pool in the back garden, if you do your credit searches well. I bet the ex-employees are not that pleased about how they set up and run their business.

I did my home work, these people targeted small businesses with a stratergy to rip them off, I only found out after being caught out, but they got no more money out of me once I found out and I warned every one I could to the limit of legality. My home work will be better in the future but you can be assured I will not be using your company.

I am sorry I could not legally give more information on this forum than I have done before, I only hope that the regulator now starts to have teeth when he bites.

That's not very friendly - attack the argument not the man.

From posts I've read I saw that you "predicted" the only way E4B would go out of business was if people stopped paying them - thats now looking like an optimistic viewpoint. Yet Waterwalker predicted as far back as July this year that E4B were playing a numbers game and going bust.

There's nothing wrong with Waterwalker's grasp of the situation, in my view.

    Waterwalker,

It comes as no surprise to me that Businessenergybroker has shown up on this thread still somehow trying to defend E4B.
What he failed to grasp on my thread and is still failing to grasp is the level of bad feeling regarding the treatment of their own customers.
If he was in the shoes of alot of the people we have corresponded with both openly on the thread and for legal reasons in private, he may then understand the levels of anger being shown towards mainly the directors of E4B.
What angers me most about all this is that I can virtually guarantee that when the dust has settled, the same names will be heading up yet another dodgy company, hiding behind their directorships. That is if they havent already made enough money out of E4B customers to be able to retire. After all there is 48 million quid floating around out there somewhere ?
  • I am happy that I got out of an E4B 1-year contract at the end of last month. For that year they charged 7.1p per unit. Their renewal was an incredible 16.21p per unit. I'm now with British Gas at about 11p.
Not so happy that we slightly overestimated our usage last year and paid by monthly DD, so they owe us about £150. I don't suppose we'll be seeing that!
And most unhappy that in Sept 07, had I stuck with Scottish, our previous supplier we would still be in a 2-year contract at 8.16p, but E4B tempted us away with an un-sustainable low offer.

I was wondering if the Direct Debit Guarantee is going to be any help here. If E4B has taken more money than it is owed, could I claim it back off the bank rather than the receivers?
  • British Gas have been appointed supplier of Last resort and will take over the supplies with effect from tomorrow.

This should be good for anyone who has signed a contract in the last 6 months as long as they act now to get on a good contract and presuming E4B weren't offering completely ridiculous deals in that period.

Feel sorry for the staff at E4B.
