Sorry, not ignoring other posts, but wanted to add my twopenneth to this. At the beginning of the year I had a tumour (small thankfully) removed from my breastbone and, at the time, I was in the middle of 6 sessions of hydrotherapy. i spoke to one of the oncology nurses about whether i could keep my hydro appointment before stitches were taken out and she said absolutely not! There is one particularly harmful organism (can't remember what unfortunately) which is prevalent in swimming pool water no matter how heavily chlorinated it is. I'm not wanting to be alarmist, but I think anyone who has any type of open wound - even a deep scratch - should steer clear of swimming pools etc. Only my opinion folks.
I made the mistake of having a glass of spritzer earlier and so brain isn't processing well, but I'll be back tomorrow  and read the posts I've missed.
    Sleep well all.

I think I know the one you mean, as I used to be a food safety auditor, but for the life of me I cannot think what it's called! Damn this fibrofog!

I have being using the '4Head' things for a couple of years now, they do seem to help.
Un fortunately I suffer from chronic debilitating migranes and spend quite a lot of my time in the bathroom (head over loo) and as I have M.E./CFS I tend to sleep in there too. It is so horrible.

Who was the person who mentioned "chatting off the forum" I am just too tired to scroll back and see who it is. Yep, I am one of lonely ones who lives alone who has now started having conversations with their Teddy Bear!!

Do you have the energy to make a complaint, or do you just want to let the dust settle for a bit?

To be honest, I've just had enough. I want to get the house straight again, and forget about it.

I have, one way or another got a record of the various issues, so should the need arise I can point to this whole fiasco, and insist that any other jobs that need doing (I'm being threatened with them putting in a new kitchen - Nooooooooooo!!!! Can't cope with more disruption, especially as it all seems to take place in the middle of winter. I had to have the roof replaced about 3 years ago, and they did it in January!) are done properly first time.

I do intend writing a letter of thanks, in respect of the work the plumbers did (carefully not mentioning that one of them set fire to my house in the process), while pointing out that the whole thing could have been a lot less stressful if those at the top bothered to communicate properly and kept accurate records of the work that has already been done.

I have said it before, and I will keep saying it 'til it sinks in somewhere - this house may just be housing stock to them, but it happens to be my home.

My only question is... did it really take you that long to come to the conclusion that he was "bordering on incompetent"? I'd say he was a bit of an idiot, imho.

Actually, I was trying to be polite, as this is a public forum. Quite frankly, the man couldn't find his @rse with both hands.

I was actually told some rather interesting things by someone connected with the job - but as this a public forum, suspect I should say no more.

Magenta, that may have been me
Do feel free to PM me if you want to "talk", vent or just generally waffle nonsense!
Off to see my dear old Dad today and, love him as I do, I still need every ounce of patience and my patience is a little thin on the ground some days!
It's not raining here and the sun is doing its best to break through and I picked up some cheap books and lovely home made almond biscuits frm the Farmers Market yesterday, so lazy afternoon is planned when I get back home.
All the biggest hugs to s/e and meagre ones to everyone else :p

sue i said a while back on here that its always swimming that people suggest for fms as its not weight bearing but i just cant manage it and the cold gets me however warm it may feel to other people and my arms just cant manage any swimming stroke, it leaves me totally exhausted.

a friend of a friend does reiki and she has offered to give me a session to see how i feel and im looking forward to it even if it just helps me to relax that day :)

    Hi Raeh,
I have bother swimming too - I've only ever been able to do the breast stroke, but that froggy thing with the leg stroke makes my spine dip at just the wrong place and it really bluddy hurts :o. We're off to Centerparcs in a couple of weeks and DS says he'll teach me how to do the front crawl, whilst DD1 says she'll teach me an elegant backstroke :D. I am just looking forward to the lovely warm temperature in the 'Sub-tropical swimming Paradise' and if I can skulk off to the Jacuzzi without anyone seeing me - well, so much the better ;).

I'm the same. I used to go swimming 3 times a week before I got this much worse. The cold is too much, of both the water and the ambient temp... that's before we factor in the wet hair and cold air outside etc etc. I'm wary of them being a virus breeding ground too... :o

I must admit to being absolutely terrified of the cold . I have a close friend with fibro and she's exactly the same, we both find that we hurt so much more when it's cold - I swear it's because we tense up against the temperature.

I've had that weird thing today which I'm sure everyone gets with fibro. I was sitting with a cuppa and the Sunday papers and just sort of rested the cup on the bony bit of my chest - then I realised it was really hurting, as if I had been punched. Half an hour later and it still felt as if I had a bruise - there's something definitely not right here isn't there?

Hi there Somebody-else - I just wanted to say that I think you deserve the 'Patience' award for the month, or even the year :T. Your council is a complete joke - or it would be if it were remotely funny. I just hope that you are now warm and toasty and able to shower in comfort..

Thanks Unity. Dunno about patient award - I did lose it a couple of times, especially on Wednesday when there were not so subtle hints that they might not get it finished by Thursday. Then again Thursday afternoon when the guy who commissioned (or nearly refused to) the system was threatening to pull the fuse on it. Still not the slightest bit cross that they set fire to my house, though.

The shower I had on Friday was bliss. (Despite having the central heating fixed, I still can't shower too often as it completely knackers me and leaves me fit for nothing for most of the day.) And getting into bed in a warm room and getting up the next morning in a warm room...

I can't swim either - by the time I've got changed into a costume and dragged myself to the pool then done a length, I've got no strength left and can't get out of the pool unaided or changed without a huge struggle, and then that's me wiped out for the next 3 or 4 days. Not to mention the water being so cold.

    Hi guys,
I have no idea what I was gonna say anymore... but on the basis I've started typing, I'll just say "hi" :hello: shall I?

  • Hi Zippy

Yeah, know that feeling. Start typing something then can't remember what it was you were going to say.

Oh well, it delays the onset of RSI, I suppose.
