The idea of a bathing 'perch' conjures up pictures of an African Grey or even a Norwegian Blue parrot :rotfl:with a shower head clutched in its beak :D. it has been one of those days.

I had faxed my doc with some worrying symptoms as I couldn't get an appt. to see him till next Tuesday - so he rang me to say he wanted to see me this afternoon - no argument:eek:. Anyway he did a set of tests and reckons my bulging disc is bulging even more. My reflexes are very brisk, but there's a lack of sensation in my right leg compared to my left. So he thinks I should see a surgeon. I have to take a urine sample in tomorrow just to check it's not an infection making me think I want to go - only to find out I can't.

This was me attempting to catch up with everyone and no doubt failing miserably - but I too am not ignoring anyone intentionally ;). Sorry to hear you are feeling the cold - that's about the only thing that hasn't bothered me today!

I too am feeling zombied - I think it's because I've taken Zopiclone two nights in succession to try and get a decent dream free sleep. The only problem is that I then start having these weird little episodes during the day - probably only seconds long where I just find myself in a dream then I end up talking rubbish - no change there then :rotfl:.

The "perch" conjured up images for me too... glad that wasn't just me too!

Faxing your doc eh? That's fair impressive!!

I was on Zopiclone for a bit. Think I've got some more somewhere in the chemist that is my laundry room  I was a bit wary of getting hooked and GP told me notto take them for too many days running... I found it took at least a couple of days before it kicked in though :o

Freshly squeezed just for you, M'lady :D Just wondering what kind of shock I could give you to stop hiccups, but decided that would just be cruel.

ATB is my lazy way of saying "All The Best".

Plumber has left the building til tomorrow but I'm wondering if I could sneak a digital camera around when he's back :D

Unity, you made me think of the Parrot lying in the bath pining for the fyords

I promised myself I wouldn't write a novel this post, so I'll catch you all later on no doubt.

    Stay warm everyone.

Well ta very much :D Unfortunately shocks doesn't work. I reckon it must be another involuntary spasm...as part of the fibro. I don't have it all the time (that would be horrendous!) but it does seem to be more obvious when I'm more tired and run down (aka more symptomatic then ).

I reckon most plumbers would be oblivious to the presence of a digicam... I look forward to the evidence of the subterfuge ;)

To be honest I fax a lot of people from my laptop, because it is quicker than a letter - but still a physical copy, rather than a phone-call. I have had so many co**-ups occur over the years that I refuse to rely on phone conversations any more. It has cost me dearly in terms of lost benefit, by relying on the so called 'experts' on the disabled help-line, so now I am extra careful.

If you think this is impressive, you'll love my next snippet - I make appointments to see my GP on-line :dance::dance::dance::dance:.

I knew because the symptoms had all arrived at once and very suddenly, that I should let him know before the weekend, so that he could decide whether or not I needed to be seen. As it is he has told us what might happen in a worst case scenario, and if it does I have to get straight to A&E - do not contact a GP or NHS Direct, do not pass go or collect £200 etc.:D I'm not worrying unduly as I've had similar things happen in the past and usually the disc situation settles itself down to a more or less manageable state. The doc is going to contact the pain clinic surgeon again to see if I can have the facet joint injections re-done, since I pointed out that they'd then be able to check the x-ray with those taken when the last lot of injections were done to check the deterioration.

You are so right about the Zopiclone, I find if I take it for more than two nights it stops working. So I battle the nightmares until I get to the 'tearing my hair out' stage - then I will take half a tablet two nights running - just to break the cycle. I reckon if I can get two nights relative peace, I can then cope again.

I have a couple of books on lucid dreaming - but I can't seem to get a proper grip on this. They say to try (when you are dreaming) to find some sort of sign, or writing - then look away and look back, whereupon it will probably have changed. Get into the habit of checking a watch or the dialling pad on a phone. However I have tried this - once in particular when I dreamt I was in the local hospital. I looked at one of the signs pointing to 'x-ray', looked away and looked back and - well, it still said 'x-ray' LOL. So maybe I'm not dreaming, I'm having out of body experiences in the local hospital :D. If I could crack lucid dreaming, I'd spend my time having flying dreams, where everything is weightless and nothing hurts at all and you wake up feeling totally energised.

Have a good night all

No WAY! That's just.... well... left me speechless! :lipsrseal

...steady on, it is me ;)

Wouldn't it be good if you *could* pick up £200 everytime you consulted a doctor/NHS Direct/A&E?? We'd all be minted!! :rotfl: Think we could get it set up?

The dreaming thing is a !!!!!!. And I'm sure the books are very... complex. I can't be doing with reading anything that requires my actual attention, if you see what I mean, cos I just end up rereading the same passages over and over without anything actually going in. Luckily I don't have tooooo many bad dreams, but you're right - flying dreams would be ace. I used to take extra Ami so I could sleep longer and hopefully get at least some benefit from it. But now I'm moving over to Pregabalin I'll have to see how that goes...

Good night all. Hope you all get some restorative sleep... for a change

  • Hi all

I hope someone can reassure me! I am a dental nurse so have done all the things we advise pts who have jaw problems, but mine just isnt going. Have got an appt for local hosp dental dept for investigation but not until Jan 09. I am really struggling at the mo. Does anyone have similar symptoms? my main one is the pain in the jaw, but also for the last 3 weeks on the same side I have been getting a really painful throat/windpipe! It is like a sore throat but without the sore part if that makes sense - a feeling of a lump there and awful pain when I swallow! Hope someone can shed some light!
    thanks

  • Lord, I'm tired! Suffering from having to get up very early for the last two days. Only been up an hour and could fall aslepp again right here.

Sharon - awful for you to be in so much pain. I hope you get relief soon.
Raeh - get it all off your chest girlie and have a vent - you know you want to! Glad I made you laigh - like so many, humour is my way of coping.
Was a bad girl yesterday and bought 7 (!) books. They are my passion and stave off boredom, but I agree with not being able to read anything that is too challenging. So many things I just don't understand these days, even if I think about them! I try to concentrate on summat and just end up thinking about choccie.

Hugs to all and I hope your day is peaceful.

Sorry magenta, OH came home from work and although I was up til gone 5am  I wasn't online.

C'mon Raeh - vent your spleen. You know you wanna.

I'm gonna too... I woke up about an hour ago now, alone in my house with a horrible cold that seems to have come out of nowhere... with no transport, and no food in the house  OH couldn't wake me this morning, apparently, so although I was supposed to take him to work so I could have the car in the day (he's on 11 til finish, which means about 1am to normal folk) he left for work with the car and I'm now stranded...and hungry. :(
I then rang him, to "discuss" strandedness, to find him very upset as he's being sent back to a pub that he hates (he's a pub manager) and nearly got fired in the fallout of some incidents that happened there (that were not his fault) and he doesn't wanna have to go back (he's really stressed about it). He's currently running an unmanaged pub and if he ups and leaves to go back to the other pub next week then he will leave them right in the sh*te and have a s**tstorm to come back to (and they only really want him to go to the other pub because his "boss" can't be bothered to work all the late nights that he used to do!). He also has spoken to payroll about the fact that he hasn't been paid properly for 3 months running  and they are trying to fob him off with excuse after excuse. We REALLY need this money too, esp with the cars to buy and the wedding coming up. He's on the verge of walking out...but the job he got offered this week gave him a start date of January, as that's the next training course after 17th Nov, which is monday, which he said he couldn't do because he didn't want to leave the company before his pay was sorted out and he'd handed the pubs over.

I'm really worried that he will get to breaking point and just walk out. Then will be jobless. And then have to find another job to tide him over, in this current economic crisis.... I'm scared!! I'd love for him not to have to work all over Christmas and New Year, but not at the expense of another 2 months wages....

This is really not good. And I'm sorry it's not fibro related. But I had to vent

  • Good for you to get it off your chest big zippy. When yo have chronic medical probs, to have to deal with other things as well sometimes just tips you over the edge eh?Sending you lots of warm hugs.

Can you phone a takeaway that delivers for some food??
and then really make your OH humble when he returns. Go on - lay it on thick! i take it that if he couldn't wake you this am that he at least checked you were still breathing! :D

How awful for wages to be wrong for 3 months. That's terrible! Can he visit payroll department and sit down with them to sort it out by any chance?

Thank goodness he has another job for the New Year. You'll have to be a very understanding OH to keep him calm until then.

I found out quite by accident when I had a cold a few years ago that if you mix Lemsip with tramadol and then have a small glass of wine, that your eyes roll in opposite directions and you feel no pain!!!! Not that I could possibly recommend this of course :D
