I was diagnosed with FM a couple months ago and I have applied for DLA, they are sending someone round next Thurs to do a medical, hopefully that will go ok.
A few weeks ago I did a local search for Hydrotherapy pools and all I got was one for animals which my parents take their dog to.
I really wanted to go to Alton Towers Halloween party tonight from 4pm to 9pm with my kids and parents, I just feel too bad and it's too cold, my wife can't go either due to her severe scoliosis. My nearly 70 yr old parents have taken them on their own, they are still on their way back, bless them.0 -
Hi everyone:) I am so pleased to see this thread, as I too was diagnosed with FM 3 months after being in a road traffic accident on my way to work. I had to retire through ill health from my job which I really loved doing. It has been lonely at times as my husband is out all day working and my remaining son at home(24) works all day too. I was very fortunate to have a G.P who made this diagnosis(I had never even heard of FM and know no one at all with it.) I had to buy two books to learn about this illness. There is a support group but I have never gone to it. I have bad days and good days too, and I have had people say to me i look so well but they don't see me when I am in a lot of pain. I find the foggy brain very upsetting especially when I am speaking to someone on the phone or outside, and I hate it. I find humour helps a lot though at home or with a friend who knows I have it. My G.P. put me on a drug called Ampytripyline which helps me sleep well as he said you don't go into your deep sleep with this illness which you need to refresh you. I would sit up till 2.00 in the mornings not feeling sleepy and I was always a person who went to bed early all my life believing in a good nights rest, so this drug is a great help to me. I already have osteo arthritis and seasonal asthma, so am on a few drugs now. I also have raised blood pressure and my health has not been good in some years. I had the accident in 2006 and was diagnosed 3 months after the accident. I am 54 years old. I am going to several classes in our town which I enjoy going to as i am meeting others and learning too, and it is only two hours each class and they have been a life line to me. Best wishes everyone, Margaret xxxDo a little kindness every day.;)0

Hi all, I'm moving at a snail pace today, things have rather got on top of me this week so am now taking a step back and planning on an afternoon snooze
This cold snap has hit me even harder than I thought it would so am staying home snuggled up as much as possible over the weekend and hopefully it'll even out.
Welcome to everyone new - hope you'll enjoy the thread as much as I have! It's been one thing that's kept me going actually - being able to check in here. And even if I post a lot of nonsense you'll all understand
I've had the feverish thing - mainly at night, so it's good to know I can chalk that up the fibro too!
Zippy, hope you're feeling much better now, tis always yuck to be stuck in A&E! You take care of yourself.
And to everyone else, hope we're all keeping warm and well, I'll probably check back later but in case I don't, hope you have a lovely weekendGet busy living, or get busy dying.

Today just isn't happening for me. I'm having one of "those" days. I'm not doing the washing up coz I haven't run out of plates and cutlery yet.
I've been sitting on the sofa all day except for having a hot bath. Mood is very low and really can't be bothered with anything.
I am due to go to Theatre tomorrow pm, and will force myself to go as I know I will enjoy it when I get there, but at the moment it feels like everything is too much effort.
I HATE days like thisI must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -

just wanted to say hi and welcome you to our little-but growing all the time club. SHARONX:j this money saving is such fun:T0 -
Thanks poohbear and beeka for your thoughts. I'm still paranoid about my breathing and watching how many words I can get out before I have to stop and breathe... they were worried about my fast heartrate in A&E too...so of course I've been watching that too..! I am better now (though not fully) but still not risking doing much and been wrapped up in duvets or had the heating on full blast all the time.
Careful with that Axe: hope you're feeling better tomorrow. I know all about "those" days. I live on my own and have about 12 sets of plates... how long do you think it takes before I need to wash up...?
I was considering paying my meagre DLA to a cleaner to come help me out with all the stuff that just *doesn't* get done otherwise (unless some kindly person does it for me.... yeah right!) but I'm too ashamed to have them in my house the way it is now!"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -

Ive had a really bad week. My legs are killing me all the time. Thank goodness it was half term and i didnt have to walk to school twice a day.. But DD2 has been flued up and needing constant cuddles so she has spent alot of time lying on me which has not done me much good, especially on my stoma... Now she has passed the bug onto me so now is the time I hope the flu jab fights some of it off. I get the jab because of my asthma. After reading so many posts on here where people get DLA im going to have to try again for it. This time i think will involve the CAB.Sealed Pot Challenge - No 1520Want to be debt clear by June 2012:j0
