Furtle? What on earth is furtle?! I would have guessed it was a small furry creature?
Do you mean fiddle f@rt?
s/e I'll go back when my head is straighter and resize pic of Lite so it doesn't muck your screen up. Soz
BZ Hope you have a good time and don't tire yourself out too much. Have you tried putting the dogs medicine in something like black treacle or yeast extract to disguise the taste? The cat will kill for yeast extract. Her fave thing after small amphibian playmates
I just choked on my dinner. Recorded Watchdog earlier (consumer show) and in an article about pension credits, the Government spokesman said that "benefits are paid in a professional and caring manner".
Responses on a postcard please. :rolleyes:I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -

Given current compensation culture, postie would see an opportunity and claim mental distress.
Tis perishing cold here. I woke too late and hungry to cook a dinner so ordered a Pizza. Place nearby does the nicest pizzas I've ever tasted and I think they're reasonable at £4.95.
My head is not screwed on straight at all today. I tried to tidy the kitchen a little and was jus moving random things from place to place, so gave up.
and always being keen to improve my vocab, what is the dic n arry definition of Furtle? It is derived from Faff?
I think you made it up *grin*I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -
Evening All,
We arrived back from CenterParcs today, absolutely shattered and I fell asleep more or less straight away only vaguely registering that DS had arrived back and DH was running him up to work. I don't know if I mentioned, but he's a student and had got a temporary contract via Reeds to input data for Royal Mail. He started last Monday and at the interview plus on his original application he had answered the question: "Are there any dates when you are unavailable to work?" He had replied that he would be away from Friday 28th November until, but not including Monday 1st December (my birthday).
Next thing I knew the phone rang and it was DS to say he had been sacked for not being in at work on Friday and he was walking home (around four miles). Luckily DH returned and went straight out again to pick him up. So that has meant coming down to earth with a real bump. Poor kid he's had a tough year, starting with an op on his back then damaging his cruciate ligaments twice (first time playing football for his university, second time on his first day back playing tennis). To cap it all he also caught chicken pox!
Anyway it was a great weekend. I told everyone just to get on and do things and let me go at my own speed which they did. I went swimming twice, on Friday and Saturday, but can't manage to get the hang of the crawl and after a length of breast stroke my legs started feeling numb so I went and sat in the Jacuzzi with DH. We saw red squirrels, lots of robins and had a tame pheasant that arrived with his harem to be fed at the patio doors! The scenery was beautiful as it's been exceptionally frosty every day, but I didn't get out at all yesterday due to IBS but managed to get to the quiz at the on-site pub. We went on both Saturday and Sunday night and got second prize each night - so a profit was made.
We did all our own cooking on a rota basis as we know what the prices are like for eating out and £8.95 for a burger and fries or £10.95 for fish and chips was we felt extracting the urine slightly.
Just as well we got back today as I found my appointment for the emergency MRI scan is tomorrow - not looking forward to being confined in a small space again  or all the noise
I feel quite rested now - ready to start getting the cards written out and presents wrapped, maybe tomorrow.
I'd best start trying to catch up on all your posts now then folks- It's good to be back.

T/S has not long got home from work (8.00 am - 9.00 pm seems like a bluddy long day's work to me), and he's had a furtle with my laptop, but wasn't able to resolve my\ drive issue. Sorry, CwtA, but I didn't ask him about your printer issue - I felt guilty enough with the amount of time he spent furtling around on my pooter. I honestly expected him to press a few keys and sort it. This time he even removed the drive (both physically and softwarely (now that word I did make up)) and nothing helped. Eek! I've stumped him. Scary moment Chez Else.

Evening All,
We arrived back from CenterParcs today...
Nice to see you back, and glad to see you had a good time.
Sorry to hear about your son - it's rotten what some businesses will do to temps. I absolutely hated temping when I was doing it - it's so easy to get rid of someone for the flimsiest of reasons when you've got no contract with them. I suspect that's why a lot of firms use temp agencies these days.
Good luck with your MRI tomorrow. Just take a deep breath when you go in, and remember that it only lasts a short while. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, and hope you come out with a thumping headache.s/e0 -

See? I knew I wasn't making it up... Dunno where I got it from, but I've never been up north for more than a couple of weeks at a time, so I think it must be more than just northerners wot use it.
Thanks Raeh.s/e0 -
Right, that's it - I give up:mad:. Has anyone else noticed something peculiar with this thread or is it just me?
I went back to one of the pages before I went on holiday and started reading posts - next thing I knew the page had mysteriously gone back to 18th November, ten days earlier than the ones I was reading. What's worse of course is that I didn't notice at first:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:.
This isn't a new thing as far as I'm concerned, it often goes from showing something like 38 pages to 72 and then back again - it's bluddy irritating when I am trying to play catch-up and see what you've all been on about whilst I was away - but I've given up so will never know if you've been talking about me whilst I wasn't here:D.
As to 'Furtle' - never heard of it - ever. Now if you'd said 'Plodging in the clarts' I would have known immediately what you were on about :rotfl:.
Was it CWTA who had the burst radiator? See I read the posts - just can't remember who said what. Anyway - sympathies these things are so much harder to deal with when you're on your own. I remember having some awful times when DH was working abroad. I've come back to find water dripping down the inside of our bay window and I don't know if it is coming from the roof or the window itself - but at least I know that DH will sort it when he gets back from dropping off DS.
Crumbs I know Raeh also said something I wanted to reply to - but I've forgotten what that was too.Was it you who needed a neighbour slapping? I almost slapped someone on Saturday evening funnily enough. B*tch shoved me out of the way to get to the loo in the CenterParcs pub:mad:. I was about to go into the cubicle vacated by another woman when she just shoved past as if I was invisible. Mind you she was shouting at someone in one of the other cubicles: 'Don't you swear in front of my pharking granny' with an unlit fag in her chavvy hand - so it would have been pointless saying owt as she was very obviously one of our neanderthal throwbacks. I moved on down two cubicles as there was an open door - only to be greeted by another of her mates sitting in full flow with the door wide-open  also shouting the odds about the pharking granny. Some people eh?
Anyway, it's good to see everyone is still here and hello to the newbies. Did I also see that BZ got a new car? I was reading something then the page disappeared and I ended up a couple of weeks further back - I swear sometimes this forum's a bluddy Tardis - but I can't find David Tennant.
Oh Raeh - was it you mentioned John Barrowman? He doesn't do anything for me - but that last series of Torchwood - when a couple of episodes had James Marsters in - Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer? I would cover him in custard any day of the week :rotfl:. I have to say at present though Jason Statham is my weapon of choice - can't wait to see Transporter 3. DH says I would watch any JS film with the sound off, just to look at him.............................. He's right:D.
Good night all and sweet dreams (hopefully)Some people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever

Oy get yer filthy mucky paws off Spike, Unity! I saw him first! Oh, what i could do to corrupt that boy
Great that you had a good time, chavs nothwithstanding. Still, it's nice to feel superior. For me the times I come back exhausted are the best as I know I've had a good time and made the most of things regardless.
Good luck with the MRI. Deep breaths and think nice thoughts if you can. The noise is absolutely horrendous isn't it.
I think the forum sprites have been up to mischief recently. I've had a few error messages saying that this thread can't be found.
s/e don't worry about printer; it's hardly a priority. I remember times whetre the pc has said it can't find something and I've picked it up, waved it in front of the screen yelling "Look, here's the bleedin thing!" Hope you get things sorted eventually.
There are lots of colloquialisms (phnar) in the SW. Here you don't say "where is it?", you say "where's it to?" Had me reet confused when I first moved here. Also, you don't get a fit of the giggles, you get larrups. Don't ask me why.
I'm feeling decidedly unsettled here and I can't quite figure out why. Might be left over stress from leak, but that doesn't feel quite right. I feel like I need to get something out of my system yet I have no idea what it is.
Mind not right for going to bed yet, so maybe another half an hour and I'll try again.
Sweet dreams all.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0
