  • your welcome,

yeah not a lot of people know, the benefits agency dont seem to publicise it or tell anyone, anyone i know who has got it has been because some external agency or rights worker has told them about it.

likewise people dont get told about the benefits of free or cheaper carer entry to places, or reduced rates for you if you show your dla letter.

when my heating broke/was breaking it was here i learnt about warm front, i was told there was no help available by the council.

  • Welcome to the thread henvic.
Most of my tabs are enteric coated and it makes a big difference. My GP is really considerate like that and looks into what would be best. For my chewable Vit D tans, she even phooned through to the in-house pharmacy to see what flavours they had so I could choose. We get on well and I like to think that if it wasn't for the professional relationship we could be friends.

BZ - good on you for getting the list out of MIL2B. Nice work. I telephoned dial some time ago and they were brill. You tend to get an answerphone but they do call back and continue to do so until they speak to you. Isn't there something called a welfare rights advisor or something to through Social Services?

I had an early night last night and slep a blissful 13 hours. Wonderful. The Ami really does curb the dreams, but I don't like to take it all the time and reserve it for those nights.

Got an apppointment through for my 24 hr heart monitor - next Tuesday. So will make sure I steer clear of the crowded shops etc or it may display my homicidal streak towards people for all to see!

Have had so many ocassions where there's me doddering along on crutches and people have done a quick two step around me to get in front of me in the queue. Some people are so ignorant, yet others are so helpful. Ah, the vagaries of the human condition.

Sharon, hope you get the bladder stuff sorted out soon. I had a sort of bladder stutter after a long bout of cystitis some years ago despite sample being clear and they said that sometimes it can become a muscle habit.

I think it's important as unless you have insight into your medical problems, how on earth can you judge what might be a noteworthy symptom unless you have educated yourself?

I remember being asked when looking at Mum's chart in hospital by a nurse in a sniffly tone whether I was a medical expert?! I said, no, but I'm an expert in Mum.
    That shut her up *grin*.

My tablets all seem to be enteric coated. I wondered what the diff was tbh, and now I know. Good to know he's doing his job well then ;)

Careful, have you got a shopmobility where you live? We've got one here, and although I don't use it often, if I've got a lot to do (or just want to potter around town without knackering myself before I've left the car park) it's really handy. They usually have a choice between electric wheelchairs and scooters, so if you can't manage one, you should be able to manage the other.

I quite agree with that, although there are times things become so normal that you don't think to mention it to anyone. Or you get to the point you can't be bothered to mention yet another annoying symptom because there's just so many of them.

Similar situation with my father - he was a diabetic and I probably knew more about his diabetes than most of the medics did.

Then there was the occasion, after mum had smashed up her heelbone falling off a ladder, after the cast was taken off and an OT was going to let her 'student' put the tubigrip on. First she started trying to (not sure of the words here - like you'd do with tights or long socks before you put them on), and the OT didn't say a word, just kept watching. So I took it off her, said "sorry mum, but this is going to hurt for a moment" and just pulled it straight up her leg then pulled the other end up 'til she'd got a double length on with the fold at her toes. For crying out loud, they had all the necessary cages there that they could have put it on without any difficulty. I do realise that students need training, but please don't let them loose on a patient 'til you've at least ensured that they've grasped the basics.

Speaking of which... do any of you have a pretty much constantly bleedingnose. I don't mean as in a nosebleed - but the capillaries in your nose get broken all the time... if that makes sense?

Awesome. I'm always grabbing MIL2B's chart when she's in hozzy. I'm too nosey, but I also want to know what she's not telling us! And what she's not told them, more to the point. :D

Are you using any kind of nasal spray (beconase, decongestant, etc) at the moment. I've been suffering a bit recently with a bluddy nose - as you say, not a 'proper' nosebleed, but a repeat dribbling. I've decided that it was because I'd used beconase 2 nights running when I was feeling decidedly bunged up.

I've resisted the temptation to use it since Monday night and it seems to be clearing up now.

Oh, and if you're taking ibuprofen (neurofen, etc) that can also thin the blood a bit and encourage bleeding at times.

Shopmobility has just opened near me, but I'm sure you'll understand that I always think it's there for someone who has real problems, not me  . I will bear it in mind though for next theatre trip to Plymouth as that had me on my knees.

Also, I'm afraid I'm a bit of a petrolhead and would be oh so tempted to try a handbrake turn etc - no I wouldn't do it of course, but it would cross my mind. As I've said before I have a deplorable excess of mischief.

Grim for your Mum. Thank goodness you stepped in to help. I'm sure most us would rather with things like that that they just go for it rather than taking twice the time and trying not to hurt us.

Good news today is nice payment into bank in excess of £35 for various mystery shops, luncheon vouchers of £6 for product surveys and a £10 Waterstones card for TV survey type thing I've been signed up for, for several years. Now have to persuade myself that I really don't need the zippy ickly sexy but cheap camcorder I've seen. Would be nice though for when American family contingent descend on us at Xmas. I don't need it - right?

Not so good news that I went to put recycling in car to head on trip to disabled friendly Organic Farm Shop and realised that I perhaps wasn't "with it" enough to drive. Spesh down the muddy, winding tracks that the shop is on.

Clear blue skies with a touch of sunshine today which is why I would have liked to have gone out, but I can congratulate myself later tonight when the house is in a better state. Oh, and when I've done a few more pages of DLA form.

  • BZ - I do get little spots of blood from my nose and it's always bunged up in the mornings. Part of the reason the window in bedroom is open come hell or high water.

I wake up to lots of little blood spots on the pillows and it takes me ages to work out where they've come from.
I'm convinced its a side effect of sommat.
