Hi all, so many posts to read yet again ... its such a busy life i have now with all this reading ;)

i went to the GP this afternoon and i have strained the muscles in my shoulder during the crash [yes BZ ;) crash not wedding] she has upped my dose of pregabalin and told me to start taking cocodamol or just codeine? along with the paracetamol. She didnt give me a script for that as she said it would be cheaper just to buy it? only thing is i have bad cotton wool head after working and it was someone iv never seen before who kept reading my notes and saying hmmmm  well im not sure how much to take and is it ok with the paracetamol, she did say it was fine with the pregabalin. I really dont want to make another appointment just to ask this or maybe can just rng tomorrow and get phone advice but the receptionists are soooo scary  i just figured someone on here would know ;)

    Hi Raeh,

I bought a Tefal rice cooker/slow cooker/steamer, but so far I've only ever cooked rice in it. I was just wondering whether they used much electricity? I've been thinking for a while of trying it out in it's slow-cooking capacity - so if you've got any particular favourite recipes that I could try I'd be really grateful :T.
    Ta,
    Unity

unity i mostly use mine for stews and its whatever veg we have in. Braised steak is lovely cooked all day with carrots and onions or brisket as someone else said already. I sometimes use lamb to stew instead of beef. Its also great if you just have loads of veg to be used up and chop it small and leave to make a vegetable soup :) im not sure about the electricity but i use mine loads and im sure it cant use much

sharon i hope you are feeling much better soon xx that sounds horrid
I'm sure I'm not the only one who's made herself worse trying to prove that I do want to get better.
god i know that feeling well:rolleyes:

I'm very sceptical of any miracle cure for the sort of conditions we have. I mean, if there was anything to it, we'd all have known about it long ago, right? Maybe I'm an incurable cynic, but I suspect a lot of these things are somebody trying to make money out of other peoples' misery
hello  your weekend sounded nice :) the opera and then friends. I agree as if there were cures then there wouldnt be this many people living their lives this way?

my step mum a while back gave me a huge list of supplements to take and told me it had been given to her by a 'friend' who used to have fibro and was cured by taking all these. She constantly asks me if im taking them yet and am i better? i know i really should give it a go but it will cost me a fortune a month and im very sceptical anyway :(

CwtA / Unity not sure this will appeal to either of you at all :rotfl: but regarding the photos , i saw a fab pop arty andy warhol pic last week of a bottle of hendersons relish [yeah must be a sheffield thing] but it would look great as a photo :)

As far as I'm aware co-ocdamol is prescription only. Do not take paracetamol and co-codamol or you're at risk of overdosing on paracetamol. You can, however, take co-codamol and codeine together, or paracetamol and codeine together, but do check the insert on the safe dose. Oh hell, hang on a moment and I'll check the maximum on mine.
    s/e
  • Okay, checked the insert on mine and it no longer tells one the maximum dosage (in mgs) per day.

As a guideline - I have 30 mg tablets, and my doc is aware that I take 2 parats and 2 codeine at a time, so 60 mgs of codeine is safe as a single dose.

I recommend phoning the surgery tomorrow (or tonight if they're still open) and asking a doc for more advice, as I'm not sure how that much codeine would react with the pregablin as well.

  • Raeh, you must still be so sore. I get my paracetamol on prescription as I get 200 (I think) at a time and I think you can only buy 12 x 2 at a time. Think it might be an idea to call again tomorrow and get them to clarify and maybe ask for a prescription. So, are you now going to sue for personal injury?! Normally I would make a joke about compensation culture, but I wouldn't blame you if you did.

also, let me clarify as you don't seem to understand, the rule is I can tell other people what they should do and they must obey, but when it comes to me, only I know best and I don't take advice - OK? :D:p

s/e - I apologise for spellong Igor incorrectly Mith :D

I found some lovely Art Deco (passion of mine) fabric today and thought I could cover a cushion with it. You can do that with a stapler and glue right??!

I did have something else to say, but it's blown away in the wind. (oops, pardon).

Sharon59 - I hope your UTI clears up soon. With IC theres no infection, but its possible to get both, if you keep having these problems then ask your dr to refer you to a Uro and check out the site I linked earlier.

SE - Thanks for the advice about paracetomol and codeine. I will get back to the doctors but I want to wait and see if this is a bug first by waiting for it to clear up and then giving the Tramadol another go, just one at a time when needed this time I think.
I think Co-codomol can be brought over the counter, but it's not as strong as the prescription one.

:j this money saving is such fun:T
  • Had no idea co-codamol could be bought ove the counter - perhaps it's the soluble one. I am no good at all with bad tasting things. Unfortunately, that includes most of my cooking.
after you all talking about the Tramadol, took some today for my afternoon headaches and, for me, it's not as effective as the Diclofenac. I still get confused what I can take with what as I have is, Diclofenal, co-codamol, co-dydramol, paracetamol, tramadol. The only ones I tend to double up in the co-codamol and diclofenac.

Does anyone mourn for co-praxamol? It was so much more effective than anything else I've come across. Shame it had to be taken from the market.

It hasn't been mentioned, but is anyone else on Steroids? I suspect not, but would love to know.

Oh why when I've done some clearing and chucking out does the place look more of a mess that if I had left well alone?
S/e - I may be a contortionist - you're not to know whether I ran away to join a circus. No BZ, not as the bearded lady *grin*
