  • I got my card reader halfway through January and a card to put in it the following week. Another week after that I finally got a PIN. However, it did not work. I called Tesco and they said that they had to send me another card and another PIN. Two more weeks later and I now have these. This time they worked. So 3 months after applying for the account I can now finally use it properly. However the interest rate has now dropped so much that there's no point. Also, I still have not got my Clubcard points promised...now the helpful call centre staff says they will arrive in my May statement. What a farce. 100% not worth the bother for a measly 1500 points. Will be closing the account soon and in future avoiding Tesco finance like the plague. What's the bet that it takes 3 months to close...?
  • A word of advice: the first line staff on the call centre only seem to know about the November 30th cutoff date for points. I got my person to talk to their supervisor who confirmed they are honouring the 31st December date as well... as I added extra money for Dec I should get the extra points. I say 'should' though as I am starting to doubt they will even be able to get this right... Mind you, the Amex Nectar bonus point offer has been giving me problems too. I doubt I'll fall for any of these in the future; just not worth the hassle.

Could I ask where else pays 4% AER for instant access at the moment?

Surely the 4% includes the bonus of 1.5% which used to be available, so just 2.5% for those applying now ...
    Wins since 2009 = £17,600

    MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS

Yes, but 'jonmimir' applied 3 months ago so has the bonus until November this year.

I'm just interested to know where he's moving to that will give him a better rate than 4%.

I see ... yes, I agree, don't know why people are moving when they have the bonus and have (eventually) set up their accounts. Probably a question of "cutting off your nose ..... " just for the satisfaction of telling Tesco where to go

I certainly know of no other instant access account with a better rate and would be interested to know if one exists (which I very much doubt).

  • Is there an email address to contact Tesco with?
  • Card reader received today and everything set-up great. I don't really understand what all the fuss has been about. The account was set-up online and took deposits immediately. This is a savings account to which people were attracted to the excellent rate. Withdrawing money was only a phone call away, without the card reader.

What I want is the ability to move my money around. It is not likely that I will move it but I should be given the choice.
