I opened my internet savings account a few months ago, i requested my card reader on 31st December, the website says it takes up to 15 working days (three weeks). So far i have my PIN number and internet banking card, but no card reader, has anyone else had any delays with there card reader arriving?
I contacted tesco on 0161 931 9959, I was told by an advisor, tesco experienced problems in sending out these card readers, I was told another one was ordered, but this will take another 12 - 15 days to arrive, why are they so efficiant?? I am really surpirsed in this organisation, I dont rate them well at allTrinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0 -
i got my the following;
1st - card reader
2nd - card - a few days later
3rd - PIN - not yet arrived?!?!?!0 -
I've got a Tesco Internet Saver account and was under the impression from their T&C's that money could only be paid into the account by S/O or D/D.
"Deposits may be made by Standing Order or Direct Debit or by using our Online Service".
So I understood wrong in thinking the account could only be funded by S/O or D/D?
And whilst I'm wingeing, I've still not received my card reader after 3 requests. Now I'm wondering if I transfer all the money from my Sainsburys a/c if I'll be able to take it out from Tesco without a card reader?
It really does seem like Tesco still operate in the dark ages.0 -

Incorrect. Just do a "funds transfer" from another bank ... you don't need your card reader to pay in from another account. This is what I did before receiving my card reader.
To transfer money OUT of the Tesco account, you will need a card reader though to use it to set up "payees".

Thanks MimiJane, I was aware that the card reader would be needed to transfer money out of the account. I'd convinced myself that D/D and S/O were the only ways to pay in.
Could I use a card reader from another bank? For example I've got one for my Barclays account. Or are they bank specific?0 -
I receieved my card reader after a long wait and a second request and then two arrived at once!
I set up my current account with another Bank as a payee and made a token payment to see if it worked and have to say was impressed, showed up in my account the same day. So after all the carry on to get this account open I feel it may be worth it, to keep my liquid savings in which I may need quick access to, and the rate is still pretty impressive at 5.1% (incl bonus)0 -
Soba, From other posts I understand the card readers are non specific so you can use another Banks0

Yes Soba, you can definitely use another bank's card reader ... good thing too with Tesco being so slow in sending their's out, so hope you have one.Wins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0

Something positive to say!!! Did transfer OUT to linked account late Monday afternoon and it was there first thing yesterday.0

Their "faster payment" scheme does mean money arrives very quickly in another account (providing the bank you're moving money to also has this facility ).
It is worthwhile sticking with it to get the account up-and-running as it's very easy to operate and, of course, the interest rate is good under the circumstances.
Shame it's enough to drive you insane setting the damn thing up!Wins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0
