Changes of clothes in the car? I have gloves and woolly hats (kids lose these astonishingly often) and daughter's riding clothes (she always forgets these on riding day) - oh, and wellies. Not that we go in for mud in a big way, you understand...
The American site always seems to have people having to leave their homes in about 30 seconds because there's a tornado/hurricane on the way... we should obviously count our blessings that we don't get these in the UK!
I read one thread on Flylady which was about "preparedness" in the event of Bird Flu - the amount of stuff you needed to have in the house was ASTONISHING - not to mention masks, sterilising gel, blah di blah. I was still reeling from the amount of bottled water I was supposed to be storing, "just in case". Changes of clothes in the car seems utterly tame by comparison!0 -
Hi everyone
I've just merged this thread with an older one on Flylady which you might like to browse - the earlier posts being listed first, so you'll need to start from the beginning again.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. As far as I know - to join a yahoo group you need to sign on, yes. Have joined Uk group, daily digest messages. Used to be in the American group, but found there was too many E-mails. However, the ideas have helped me a lot.0

Hi
I'd seen the Flylady challenge threads and became intrigued so I just checked out the website - and miraculously didn't read past Day One of the FlyBaby instructions LOL
I dont know if another thread has covered this but how many of you are FlyLadies? How did it work for you? Not knowing much about it exactly was does it entail?
And should I have a bash? What type of people does it work for?
I'm just off to shine my sink LOL - I ruddy HATE housework so anything that gets me off this PC chair and into the kitchen is a miracle

Yes........
It is a good system but you need a yahoo e mail. I work so I found getting in with tons of E mails offputting.
Work from the Home page and you are ok!
My house has really benefitted !:T0 -
There is another flylady thread that it might be useful to join this one to. I'll look it out for you.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

Flylady has really worked for me - or, to tell the truth, is really working (again), as my house managed to slide into pile of pooville again after I managed to break both my arms this summer and couldn't be bothered to do ANYTHING for a while. The best thing for me is my bathroom, which always looks gleaming, despite the fact that I never seem to clean it - she introduced me to this brillo thing whereby you wipe down the shower while you're in it, "swish and swipe" the loo after you've used it in the morning (takes 3.5 seconds) and wipe round the sink after you've cleaned your teeth (I use a wipe from Lidl's which does the taps/sink, dado rails, loo handle and loo seat and then gets chucked in the bin). Total time spent cleaning the bathroom in the morning - well, max of two minutes, and, like I say, it just doesn't get a chance to look other than gleaming. I used to spend a good hour on a Saturday scrubbing it back to life!!!
As for the emails, they've never bothered me (though I'd turn them off if I was going on holiday, LOL) as I see them simply as reminders. Just looking at the ones that came today, for example:
- Grab your control journal: check your morning routine
- Where is your laundry?
- It's time to move: 15 mins of loving movement
- Spend 15 minutes in your zone
- REMINDER: what's for dinner?
- Continue to swish and swipe
- 27-fling boogie time
- Time to check the girls: monthly breast exam
- Laundry habit: a load a day
- Your morning routine puts you on auto pilot
- Drink your water
- Check your calendar for birthdays
- REMINDER: where are your shoes?
As you can see, these are not emails you need to open. They are reminders: you just read 'em and delete 'em. There are "testimonials" (always marked "testimonial") which you can read or not as you see fit. Some of them are quite inspiring. Some make you want to barf (it is an American site after all - apologies to any Americans reading this, but my good old UK cynicism can't always deal with the (undoubtedly sincere) sentimentality of American outpourings!) But you can choose not to have the emails if they annoy you.
The main thing about Flylady is this idea of "I can do anything for 15 minutes". And it seems like nothing, so you do do it. And just as (as she repeatedly says) your house didn't get dirty overnight, it won't get clean overnight - but it's amazing how acquiring these little 15-minute habits gets your house noticeably cleaner and yourself noticeably more organised really quite quickly!
So go for it! And best of luck - you'll be glad you did it - you are not behind! Just jump in where you are!!0 -
*grinning widely*
WHO has a lovely shiny sink now? Add this to the Stardropped oven and I feel positively virtuous
Have signed up to the UKFlaylady thing and will give it a go - what harm can it do?
Thanks all you flyladies, anything that can get me more organised has GOT to be a good thing :TComps £2016 in 2016 - 1 wins = £530 26.2%
