Any other Flyladies around?

I have been flying since just after my daughter was born (she's 18 months now). I dont do all the stuff; in fact i dont do most of the stuff - but i try not to whine! It has kind of fallen by the way-side at the moment, but I still sing its praises!Threadhead0

I'm a big fan too - don't do half the things she suggests, and sometimes just look at the missions and move on! I go through the emails deleting them - just use them as reminders - though if I've got 5 mins I will read the testimonials. However, I used to spend every Saturday taking a flamethrower to my DISGUSTING bathroom and dealing with a huge pile of laundry, plus every day hacking my way through yesterday's dishes to clear enough space to prepare the evening meal. Since discovering Flylady, my bathroom is always spotless even though I never seem to clean it (swish and swipe, girls!), my laundry is always done because I bung a load in the washing machine every morning while I'm making the tea - takes 5 minutes and I don't even notice it; and all my kitchen surfaces are clear though the sink is never really shiny - too old and manky for that! And setting your timer for 15 minutes to attack the horror that was more-or-less any of the rooms in our house has really cleared them so that, like others who've posted here, you actually seem to do less housework, not more. God Bless Marla, I say!0

I had a nosey when it was mentioned on here a couple of months ago. First thought was "How is someone who pictures herself as an overweight purple fairy possibly going to help me?" but it did! It's not perfect but it's worked for me (with some tweaking to make it fit in with my somewhat haphazard lifestyle. When I'm not feeling too well the 15min per job helps get me through the day. And I've also started to look at what I've achieved rather than what's left to do. And as for the decluttering - I could be getting addicted! It may not be everyone's cup of tea but I've definately aquired a taste for it!!!0

I'm a haphazard Flyer too. Have been signed up for a couple of years and will admit that I'm not as focused as I used to be, but I still get the weekly home blessing done, together with other habits such as making the bed, shining the sink, planning the week's menus etc etc. I filter all the emails directly into my delete box because if I sit down to read them, my morning disappears. I like the fact that the method takes away the guilt I've always felt at not being a star hausfrau; now I feel much more relaxed and happy if unexpected visitors turn up and the thought of entertaining at Christmas no longer sends me into a hysterical flat spin.
Flylady rocks in my book (if a little icky at times!). FF :snow_grin0 -
I joined up a few months ago and my life since has been transformed. My house was not too bad beforehand, as I hate clutter anyway, but I now find that I can enjoy my weekends (work full time) as all house work shopping etc done almost like magic in the week, its just a case of doing jobs in small 15 minute bites and not allowing yourself to wallow in self pity.
I thought the most helpful tips from Flylady were firstly that you can't organise clutter and secondly to have antiprocrastination days when you do all those nasty little jobs that keep getting delayed for months, but in reality only take a few minutes once you decide to do them.
I don't worry about all the reminder e-mails I just delete and read the testimonials.
Now the most organised I have ever been leading up to christmas :xmassmile hurray :jLBM July 2006 debt 1st August 20060 -
Welcome to the forum mcardinalblue!
:santa2:
I agree with what you say about the Flylady clutter mantra, it is most helpful and as a natural hoarder its helping me mend my ways. I came from a house where both parents worked, and both me and my DH work now (well I'm technically a student but I go to my office most days). Changing from a tradition where housework was done in marathan sessions during the weekend (if at all) to doing it in 15 mins during the weekday evenings, swish and swipe in the mornings and putting a load of washing on before I leave the house (luckily I have a delay timer on my WM) means I come home and things have already been done, as if, as you say, by magic. :snow_grin
Also from an OS point of view, you don't need strong cleaning products if you are doing it a little each day. I do my swishing in the morning with a spray bottle of vinegar and water solution, and shine my sink (well try its plastic) with it too! :money::shhh: There's somewhere you can go and get books to read... for free!

Hello all.
Just to say another flybaby here - yes it is a bit americanised at times but it does work.
My sink is shiny, my laundry is organised, my bed is made and our clothes are ready the night before!
Still struggling with the clutter a bit though!

I am too although thinking of unsubscribing because of the amount of emails... and I get confused because of the time difference! It's a good site to pick up tips on though...0

I've tried to be but keep lapsing! I love the way it breaks everything down - and still do the hotspots and the odd 27 fling boogie! Funnily enough I do still get the emails but I just delete them - think I would find that more useful if the time difference didn't mean I get the "Go to bed" one mid morning!
Must try to get back on the wagon....0 -
I wonder if it would be worth emailing her on using her contact us page to ask if she can set up the timings to give people the option of having the emails delivered to fit UK/Europe time?Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there.
