withdrew money from KE on 7th by CHAPS - still waiting - telephone answering message says next Friday or Monday 27th. Spending my days on PC checking bank account.

I hope it is not going by date as I withdrew on 7th and havent received my money yet. £35k by CHAPS to Barclays. £20 debited. I only joined KE on 29th Sept so had no chance to get any interest - it was only in a week.

My "lucky" other half received their money yesterday. Huge sigh of relief there. I tried to transfer my savings out on the same day 10 mins later via Chaps [9th Oct] but nothing came up on screen. Rechecked an hour later and still nothing on screen so thought transaction had not gone through as accounts had been "frozen". Could not even access/transfer my fixed rate accounts. Spoke to a chap at KE who said, yes that's probably what has happened. This incidently was following a news item on radio about Kaupthing going down the tubes.

Have been so busy worrying about other half's money I did not even think to check my own savings account believing, like a complete plonker, that mine was safe!!! Ha Ha.

This morning I checked KE account to make sure money still there and nothng untoward had happened. Low and behold all money from savings account sent out by Chaps on 9th!!! Panic set in. I went into my on line Barclays Current Account. Money not there. Came out in a rash. Looked at this excellent Forum and finally it sunk in that I must be one of the last lot of 5% manual customers who, hopefully, will receive their money on Friday. I spoke to Nicole on Customer Services line at KE who more or less confirmed this.

Will believe it when I see it. Am trying to remain optimistic but am finding it very difficult to concentrate on anything.

I'm so glad this forum exists. Thanks to Martin and his team and all who contribute. You are keeping me sane.
