  • In Martin’s 2pm update today he said it sounded if we were urgently trying to ensure the remaining Kaupthing Edge payments were made. He was right and I am pleased to confirm that all outstanding payments will leave the bank by Thursday 23 October and start arriving in destination accounts on Friday 24 October.

We do follow the very influential moneysavingexpert.com threads and obviously recent ones have not made pleasant reading although it has been good to see reports of so many payments being received. We are pleased that we have now managed to resolve the administration issues we encountered with Kaupthing Edge and can now provide customers with what they want – certainty about when the final payments will leave the bank.

Below is the note we have just posted on the Kaupthing Edge website:

Kaupthing Edge outstanding payment issue resolved

We have been working hard to clear the backlog of payments and the vast majority of these have now been made. However, there are a small number of payments which we have been unable to process so far due to administrative issues within Kaupthing Edge.

Kaupthing Edge in the UK is being run by Administrators and we have now received their confirmation that all outstanding payments will be released by Thursday 23 October and we would expect these to start arriving in the destination bank account on Friday 24 October.

ING Direct and the Administrators would like to apologise once again for the delay in resolving this issue.

Your money is safe and secure and our priority remains to restore normal service to all customers.

Thanks for that. Easy for me to say as I have had my money and there's no point repeating the critisms of the way the process has been handled. You know what they are. I won't be banking with ING in the future but I do recognise that ING's involvement has got us our deposits back quicker than any other process would have.

Please make sure you stick to your commitments to the people you have not paid yet.

I'm trying to keep the database up to date re money received but not everyone used user names when they emailed me etc. If you are still waiting, and I have your details, tell me and I'll keep it going.

After the FIRST REAL message by ING (why on earth they did not do post here before, it was so simple and the mere fact of them aknowledging the existence of the problem on the very same forum where we were all panicking over our disappeared money would have certainly reassured all of us!!!!) I am sure that now ALL of us will finally receive their money by the 24th.
I was very very sceptical this morning but I did receive my money back today.
Surely Mr ING spokeperson you should have handled this mess better...
I am sorry, I am not going to recommend your services to any of the people close to me.

So would it be possible to have a database of those of us still waiting which you could supply your customer service team with? After speaking to them countless times, they have got an uneviable job and, like us, would like to have helpful inromation, not empty promises like we have been given time after time. I appreciate your statement, I realise you are trying to help, but at the end of the day - I am still without my cash, all 35k of it.

I cancelled my account on the 9th of October via phone the gentleman that took the call took my details and told me my money would be transfered by the end of the week, nothing arrived.
I checked my account his morning still nothing, the money is still in the Kaupthingedge account.According to the update on their website everything should have been sorted out by the close of business today.
I shall check again the morning and if my money still has not been transfered I shall ring them again.I am now getting very worried! They still have our savings of 35k.

Sounds like I might have been right then, account was locked and legal bun fight ensued! No wonder they didn't want to mention it until they had straightened it out!
