All over including Panorama but fell on my decking at the beginning of the year - fractured my pelvis and had to give it all up. Miss the buzz of the media so much. Incase you missed the previous postings here is a clip that was going on Panorama special last week but pulled giving the ing statement just before the prog. Where did you work in the Beeb?0

WhatEverItTakes
I have been reading this forum for some time and with respect! I have to agree with the comments.. I like many others are owed £ thousands from a Chaps request on the 8th October. Whilst the issue of the Chaps fees will have to be resolved, Plus any loss of interest during this period. Myself and others are *still*waiting for their life savings to turn up..Chaps requested 8th October : money left my account 8th October : £20 chaps fee deducted : destination account Halifax : Chaps fee of 20 re-funded to my KE account 27th October but dated 8th October: On the spreadsheet and received generic e-mail 29th October. Funds paid to my linked account 4th November0 -
Well still nothing turned up. I know Thursday/Friday is supposed to be when things happen, but I was told on Monday evening "hopefully, it might turn up before then".0

Hi all
I have just been catching up with last night's posts and I have to say they cheered me up no end and encouraged me to dig out all my old Monty Python videos. I agree that we are in a serious situation and should focus on the key issues - but hey it doesn't hurt to lighten up a bit occasionally when there seems to be no developments.
I also agree that escalating to the media at this delicate stage might exacerbate (is that the right word??) the situation if others with savings in ING start to get panicked and start withdrawing.
Based on yesterday's discussions I reckon nothing more is likely to happen until Friday, so I'll just keep an eye on my linked account in the firm belief that it will turn up eventually.
I agree we should concentrate on getting the capital out before we start campaigning for return of CHAPS fees and lost interest.
Thanks all of you who continue to support this thread even though you have been paid - it is much appreciated. :T0 -
Good morning everyone - glad no trolls appeared last evening - it was horrible the night before. I had to be lighthearted - if I didn't laugh about it I would have been crying.
Martin - thanks for all the help - heres hoping you won't have any of us to follow up on after Friday.
ING spokesperson - a daily post from you would be reassuring - it feels a long time to Friday.KE veteran - life seemed so much simpler then!0 -
Am I the only one who still hasn't received an email from ING telling me I'm one of the 5%?0
-
No. You're not the only one.
I spoke to ING last night and was told that it must be a clerical error that I hadn't had an email but not to worry as everything was safe.
I remain hugely comforted by that - NOT!!!!0 -
So - um - one of the theories we floated in that other thread was kinda right - ING Direct haven't been paid in full for the KE liabilities ....
Oh well. Given that that's the situation, there's really no point in agitating ING about it, because there's diddly squat that ING can do until they get the money (which might be sent to us directly by the administrators Ernst+Young rather than via ING first).
I think that at this stage, shouting in the press and going on pickets and marches might not be productive. We still have the problem that Icesave customers don't know when they're going to get their money, and KSF Isle of Man plus LA / NHS / Uni / charity customers don't know if they're going to get their money.
I think the main reason that the KE thread has been much busier than the Icesave thread is because, at the outset, ING tried to reassure us that everything is fine and will carry on pretty much as normal, thereby raising our expectations. Icesave, by contrast, did not do this. But objectively speaking, the number of people affected by the Icesave freeze is somewhat larger than the number affected by the KE transactional stickiness.
What I don't want is for us to create resentment between these different groups of failed Icelandic bank customers. And I think we're at risk of creating that resentment if we should too loud in the press at the expense of, say, KSF IOM customers. We're already in the situation that KSF IOM customers think it's "unfair" that we - yes we who are still waiting for our money - are being given "preferential" treatment.
The way I see it is this: we're all in the same situation in that we can't get at our money, and we can't be sure when we'll be able to get it. Sure, we've had assurances in the past, but those assurances have been broken. If the KSF IOM customers want to call that "preferential treatment", then that's fine, but preferential treatment doesn't pay my rent or my bills.
But the bigger point is - I don't want to argue the point with them! Reality is, we're all in this together. We shouldn't be fighting with each other.
My point is, if we do say anything in the media, we need to make sure it's done with respect for Icesave customers, KSF IOM customers, and, if applicable, the residents of the nursing homes that might not be able to pay the wages of care assistants due to their payroll funds being frozen in Icelandic bank accounts too. We really don't want to be drawn into a public media fight over whether we are more or less "deserving" than these other groups of people. So although I'm not against agitating for a resolution in the press, I think we need to be careful how we handle it.
ING have said that the administrators will start issuing more payments on Thursday, which we should start receiving at the end of this week, or next week at the latest. I know people have said "let's wait and see" before - but really - this time - I do think let's wait and see!0 -
