I have been with Amazon for 3 months on the 5.99 deal. It has been great. More or less got my number 1 or 2 choice everytime.
The only downside is that the 10% discount didn't work properly and gave me only 2.25 off a DVD purchase of 29.97. Go figure!0 -
I've been with loads of these postal DVD rental services such as Blockbuster and Amazon, amongst others, and all of them have been absolutely rubbish in one way or other.
The only one i've found which is any good is mymoviestream. In fact they're not just good...they're superb and faultless in my book. They're the only ones who have taken my money and have sent me the films I actually want, quickly and undamaged.0 -
I signed up to Screenselect's 30-day trial on 10-Jan. They dispatched the first DVDs the following day and, as of today, 17-Jan, they haven't arrived, so I have reported them as "missing". Definitely not a good start! It's already put me off not only Screenselect but the whole idea of postal rental...
Now I hope they don't try to charge me for the missing discs. But that would be another story...0 -
Another vote for Amazon from me. I've tried several different services and have found Amazon to be the best so far. It's really easy to use and I don't think I've had to wait for anything on top of my list yet.
I used the £7.99 per month service for about a year but started to struggle to watch 4 a month and so have dropped down to the £5.99 service which is just about right for me.
The customer service is excellent, I can only think of one occasion when I had to wait for more than a couple of days for a DVD to be sent. There may be better value services, especially if you are a heavy DVD viewer and it's no good for tarts but if, like me, you are a light user then I don't think that Amazon can be beaten for price and service.0 -
Amazon gets my thumbs up.
Ive always had my number one choice uptil this week when they have sent me another top choice instead due to availability.
Its excellant service ,very fast turnarond and well worth £5.99 a month for 3 moviesLightbulb moment January 2006 ..This spendings got to stop..things can only get better :T0 -
3/4 of way through screenselect now.......very very good.......on a par with whsmith (powered by lovefilm)
quick turnaround
no problems playing any of the disks
lovefilm and screenselect......about the same....very good from both
Blockbuster (not up to scratch) too many disks had problems playing and slow turnaround
maybe disks problem down to blockbuster using cardboard post wallet things whilst lovefilm and screenselct use plastic ones.....anyone know what other companies use?0 -
I've been with Blockbuster for quite a few months now and have found their service has always been very good, with the exception of around christmas time but that was Royal Mail's fault I'm sure!
I sent 3 DVD's back on Tuesday (last post), got notification that new ones (all 3 were in my top 10) were sent yesterday so I expect to see them when I get home tonight.
Also, I've had 2 missing DVD's (one from them and one going to them) and they've taken them off my list straight away and issued me with new ones!
This costs £14.99 a month, great service and, to be honest, although I'm tempted to try lots of the free trials I'm happy with the service I get and from the sound of it there are a few dodgy ones out there!0 -
Just a warning to take care with cinemaparadiso. Signed up for free trial using martin's link provided here. No problem receiving dvds quickly, but they have debited my card on first day of free trial for £137!
I have been emailing them (no telephone number available) for over 10 days, and to date no response!
Anyone else experienced same treatment?I have gained from advice as well as bargains here, so if I can help in any way, I am only too pleased to do so and appreciate your thanks.0 -
I was with screenselect a while back, Started off very good, catching up on all the movies that I hadnt seen, but soon (within 3 months) I was getting the back end of my list, and sometimes just films related to them.
I often got pt 2 or 3 of a trilogy without seeing the 1st, and also the bonus disk instead of the film.
Is far as turnaround goes, I cant fault them, maybe they are too good as I went through my must sees a bit quick. And the value for money is also good.
In the time I was with them, no disks were reported unreturned, but 1 did arrive with me, which was delat with by there own department.
The only other thing that I didnt like was that there way of trying to entice you back, then not delivering there promises.0
