what was said?
EDIT: http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/reports/consumer/consumer_20051220.shtml
Ah who'd guessed it? argos direct0 -
If Argos have done 50 million transactions this year and Watchdog have only had only 700 complaints about them then that is pretty good going.0
-
Yeah watchdog had 0.14%, but the fact is those 700 are Argos Direct, Argos probally told them everything.0
-
I posted my letter on the 12th but I have not heard anything back from them, do you think I should contact them again?0

Regarding the self-service tills, I don't know if it is still the case but when I used one approx 3 and a half years ago to purchase a car stereo (£200) I got to the collection point after paying by debit card and the woman at the desk had to take my card and phone some credit agency to verify that I could pay!
She was on the phone for around 20 mins (on hold apparently) and told me that if the item was over £100 thay had to do this. Had I queued like normal I would have been back home by the time she finally handed the stereo over.0 -

I only use self-service if it is something small or I have to get in and out again quickly and the store is packed/queue for tills is massive. (In fact, the best time to go in is 5.20pm on a Saturday - 10 mins before closing)

now the quickpays are chip and pin , they no longer phone for authorisation if the order is over a certain amount0

Yes, Argos stink. I am boycotting them. I've only bought about six or seven items from them and had problems with at least half.
I wish people would stop buying from a store they have complaints about; if everyone did they'd be out of business or would learn to treat their customers better.'Everyone loves to read but it can be a real nuisance when you lose your place. Here's a solution. When you finish reading a page, just tear it out. You'll save money on bookmarks too!' -- Amanda's Handy Hints, Amanda Keller. :cool:0 -

yeah true like argos card/visa electron? i think the electron dont have chip and pin, but then again the young pipsqueek at the collection prob wont figure it so will let you sign then away!!0
