Last time I visited Argos and used the self-service tills, they only allow one reservation number per transaction. So, in answer to your question, Yes, you will need to complete two transactions - inserting your credit card twice, collecting two transactions worth of receipts, and being quick to ensure they don't call your first item whilst completing your second transaction!
Thanks, tigermatt
Don't forget you can always put all the items on one reservation number. I reserve several items at once just getting one reservation number. Then pay at the quick pay. The jewellery items are always collected by the staff, I have never had to go to the jewellery counter to collect them seperately. The quickpay is always quicker but you do have to ignore the other customers glares when your item arrives before theirs!!!!0 -
An anagram of "argos" is "agros". Says it all.0

How on earth do you get more than one item on a reservation number?

Not sure I understand the issue... you select an item, then when at your trolley, click on the "go back and add more items" button and repeat to add more. When you get back to your trolley if you click the "reserve for store pickup" checkboxes, they'll all appear on the same reservation number.I really must stop loafing and get back to work...0 -
Hi, i worked there to two years and can agree with most of that
when i went for an interview (argos was my first ever job) they didnt look at my cv and there first question went a bit like this: 'how was your day today..oh and when can you start work?
As soon as i went from a temp to permant staff i worte a three sided a4 letter to my manager and stated what i thought could be improved for the customers, i could rewrite it now but you have all said it anyway.
while i was there it was about targets, profit and making sure the argos experience went as bad a possible for the customer. when i was there untill march this year i had to ask for insurance on anything and everything, gift vouchers, argos cards and aditional purchases (ie cdrw disks to go with a dvd recorder) and thats before they knew how much there shopping was
I agree too that as many people as possible were faffing doing anything but serving/helping customers and as for mannars i agree with that too. One day i even stuck posters outside my store as stated 'sorry but if you wish to be spoken to politly and with respect, please visit anothor store' they lasted about three hours untill the manager arrived.
ok i still shop in argos if i cant find the item anywhere else cheaperbut i know how the system works and untill they change it they profits will not increase.
*btw i was layed off in march due to money shortages after they took over index, my brother still works there and has been there a year now (he was also a temp)*0 -
last time i visited, the queues were massive, i was wrong changed and was treated like a liar and an inconvenience (like i would lie about £1) and then had to wait around ages to collect.
but what i wanted is normally £9 in other shops and was £5.20 in argos.
shame it was back to full price (£7.99) when i went back 2 days later for more :doh:If at first you do succeed, try not to look astonished.

i remember the jasper carrott routine about 'argos- the greek god of pointless queueing' and how their stores were staffed 'entirely by people who failed their woolworths exam'.
pmsl- was laughing about this the other week with a friend of mine- who used to work for argos
i wish somewhere else local sold yu-gi-oh! cards so cheaply though.
in the latest catalogue, it calls 'dark beginning 2' cards 'dark begging' cards- caused much hilarity between me and my friend although i dared to utter to my friend that it sounded like some kind of weird fetish and i got a really weird look from the woman at the next order point- well she shouldn't have been listening in :snow_laug
i nearly turned round and told her it was humour- you need it if you shop in argos :rolleyes:If at first you do succeed, try not to look astonished.

I remember that one, classic, :snow_laugI don't go near Argos at this time of year, haven't done for years actually.
I can remember small Argos stores in the very early 80's when I was setting up my first home. They have always been cheap with awful Customer service, you pay your money and take a chance to misquote a famous saying.............. :xmassign:0 -
I have to say I agree with a lot of the things that have been posted here about the store itself-every company has its faults! but I am very against those who are belittling the staff. They are people, and I do not think it is right to judge and make assumptions about people when you do not know them. I do not agree with the staff being rude to the customers and when they do not apologise for the wait it can be very frustrating. However I have to say the customers that rant and rage at the staff for things that are the fault of the company and not the individuals' cannot complain when the staff member is rude to them, as that staff member is under no obligation to serve an abusive customer.
As for the company only employing '16yr old losers', I could not disagree more! It makes me very angry that people say that. I worked at argos for 2 years and met some of the nicest people I have ever known, all of us went out of our way for customers that were not abusive. Most of our customers were very pleased with the service they recieved and came back again. The ones that weren't happy tended to have problems with the company itself rather than the members of staff. I am at University studying medicine and the others I met at argos are all off at university (still workin for the company in their spare time) studying for careers that will one day be looking after the country.0 -
This is a reply to those people that said that Argos only employ "!!!!!! and 16 year old losers". Fristly this cant be true as your friend, if not in the second topic would most certainly fall into the first. I have worked for Argos for over 2 years, at 2 different stores with some of the nicest people ever. I am currently studying a Law degree at a top London University and got 4 A's at A level in Law, combined English, Sociology and Politics, and passed an Advanced English exam at pre-degree level with a merit, does this make me in any way a loser? If so I'd like to see what a majority of the halfwits I serve each day do. Just keep in mind that it will probably be us in about 10 years firing your asses for falling asleep on the job because your lives are so unfulfilling or just because your plain idle!!
Fair enough a lot of the staff at Argos are about 16 but coming out of school with GCSE's doesn't really open up many opportunties and EVERYONE starts off somewhere, remember that. Argos gives us students some money so that we can live from day to day, does that sound familiar to anyone?
To the guy that said Argos employ the people that failed their Woolworths exams, I'd just like to point out that you probably still shop at Argos even though Woolworths sells exactly the same. If this is the case why get served by the people that didn't pass this so called exam? Obviously you deserve better as one of the many rude and ignorant people I see most days at work.
If you have issues with the company, which in my experience most people do, then contact Head Office, I have better things to do than to hear from some sad pathetic loser who thinks that the customer is always right...here's some news, the customer is only right when they know what they are talking about!!
P.S. Have a nice day, and thankyou for shopping at Argos. ;-)0
