We've just heard back from Landy and they can do it! €200 which is great!
I am assuming they looked at the jewel detail before quoting and are sure that they can do this. Landy don't send pics so we just need to be sure about this as it's a major part of the dress.
I'm not allowed to put a pic of the whole dress as this is probably THE one;) but I can put a pic of the jewel detail:rolleyes:
What do you think, would the jewels be a problem?
Hey Sal,
As you know I got a JP from Landy - I sent them as many pics as poss (Inc a close up of the jewel detail). They matched it brilliantly, HOWEVER....in the pics some of the jewels look lilac instead of the silvery grey so of course, they've put LILAC ones on!!!! ARGH!!!! My dressmaker is painstakingly removing them and replacing them ....good job shes a friend! So, if I were you I'd fully describe the colours to them as well? I also requested they did my dress in silk which I'm pleased about - it hangs beautifully!! (All I need now is a new wedding venue and date and I'll be able to wear the darn thing!!!)

Thanks Hels,
Ivan didn't go into detail so I've emailed him back asking what material he's quoted for and more detail on the 'jewels' plus a lead time. The jewels look blue in the pic but it doesn't matter if they use blue as that's the bm colour.
I haven't heard back from Milly yet...0 -
I've now actually (despite my utter insistence I was not going to wear a dress) found a beautiful prom-style one on there I'm being tempted by (if they'll do my size!).Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

http://www.landybridal.com/Product/Pro1513.html is the one I'm kind of wavering over - don't want anything fancy since it's only a reg office jobbie anyway, but that looked like it would emphasise my least grotty bits (got a relatively tiny waist and cleavage to die for) and give everyone a shock if I showed up in it after being adamant on the no-dress thing.
Can't decide if I can justify the cost though - been pricing rings and they're pretty ikky when we're faced with a potential house move in the next few months.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
That's a stunning dress Dizziblonde, even when I normally wouldn't go for that sort of colour. It looks lovely!!!:j0

Ooooh that's niiiiiice!! i can see why you're dithering. Go on, shock 'em! lol0

Looking at their size chart (and a tape measure) - they would actually be able to do it in my size - just their bust measurements seem awfully disproportionate to the rest of their measurement - I've got size 26 other whatnots but size 20 boobs according to that. Guessing that means I'd have to go down the custom made route or pay for alterations in the UK (would have no idea where to start with that one!).
OH's all for the idea of me getting a dress and loved the fact that it was unusual compared to standard white dresses and could be worn again... just need to hold off for a while since I'm starting to lose weight and don't want to order - then have to pay out to get it dropped a size (and it's very likely I will drop a size as I'm on the 24/6 borderline generally anyway).
The line to my family is still that I won't consider a dress at all and will be showing up in trousers - would love to drop the dress size, tone up and shock them on the day (still got 8 months to go so I guess there's time and I do put in the hours at the gym).Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Girls,
Just thought you'd like to know I got a quote for my dd's dress (the 2nd one) from Milly and Landy - and Milly's was cheaper!
Milly quoted £132 for polyester silk and £307 for 100% silk whilst Landy quoted £172, they didn't stipulate fabric but I assume it's polyester, I'm waiting for an email from Ivan to confirm the fabric.
If this is right, she'll probably go with the 100% silk from Milly.0 -
That's brill sal. Do I hear relief???:D0
