i am having my dress which is from landy altered by adding crystals, and the dressmaker seamstress said its quite well made but just wanted to let everybody know that it actually isnt boned at the sides etc,she is doinf that for me,also mine had quite bad stains on it so maje sure you get it proff cleaned.
just a few points i have learnt from my dress.hope this helps someone who is thinking of buying from landy, maybe you could add that you want it fully boned ??

What kind of stains????? I don't fancy having to fork out to get a wedding dress cleaned before I have the chance to wear it!

Just been looking on the Landy site....what does 'got score' mean??
    Brand:maggiesottero Catalog:maggiesottero Got Score:5Market Price:€1186 Member Price:€150 Get Disccount:€1036

I think it's something to do with discount for future purchases - the higher your score the bigger the discount.

    Edited to add:
example from site: 20 points gets you a 2% discount.

  • I just wanted to say that i bought my wedding dress from Landy and am over the moon with it, it fits perfectly. As for stains i havent spotted any on mine nor will i need to have anything added to it. The bodice came fully boned. I hope this helps anybody who is thinking of buying one from here. Everyones experience is different but i was completely satisfied with my dress cant wait to wear it!!! I did ended up being one of the unlucky ones to pay custom charges but it was only £20ish so the dress was still a bargain.

there was alot of different stains on it,1 very large water mark stain on it,these were all pointed out to me by my seamstress, she did say the dress was well made but looked rushed and a few problems with it.

i had a lace up back and she said the hook things where it laces up were a bit flimsy, and i wanted a piece in the back of the lace up so you couldnt see my flesh, that was just a piece of material where that is normally boned, also down the sides of dress were not and down to the side of the lace up section.

i queried this with landy and they say it was boned.now it was boned a the front top of dress and at top section, hard to describe i know!!.

basically if i hadnt of met this dressmaker i wouldnt of known all the problems but with having them sorted out and me adding what i wanted on it,the dress looks 100% better.

what my point is like i have already said is that you get a good quality material, but it isnt designer,it wont be like you would buy in most wedding dress shops UNLESS of course you got things changed with it like i have done.

all in all though my whole dress with alterations, crystals added, boning put in and i bought my tiara too was about £260 ? so cannot complain  .

i just want to be honest abut my experience, not saying it to put anybody off using landy or any other.
appreciate what you have got x

I'm so pleased that you love your Landy dress!

Mine should come any day now and I'm beside myself with anticipation!!!

I've emailed them and left two messages on the customer services thingy - just because I want to know how the dress is progressing but they've not got back to me yet. I expect they're up to their eyes in the backlog after New Year!

I think I will burst if I have to wait much longer - especially as I get married in 6 weeks!!

    Scooper:

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I'm glad that everything worked out in the end. I'd be worried that a dressmaker wouldn't touch somebody elses work esp on a wedding dress. Was your dressmaker ok about this?

    Your dress is stunning!

you have to pay customs import duty and vat on these don't you. what sort of amounts have you all had to pay please

I think a lot depends on what Landy puts on the invoice on the front of the parcel which doubles as a customs declaration, I've read posts where the poor bride nearly had a heart attack when she saw the contents described as 'rags' (she then realised this was to try to avoid duty!).

If you are unlucky enough to be charged, you will pay 12% customs duty and VAT (currently 15%) on the declared value of the goods.
Be warned however, any insurance on the package will only pay out on the declared value.
