OS Thread - Sunday 19th October

Good morning,
a very lazy morning here. Been mooching on the lappy in E-bay (I love Ebay) and not much else. Going to rally the troops soon and make dinner and then pick up DS1 who has been at camp since Friday.
Got chicken and all the trimming for tea and an afternoon in my bedroom carrying on with a bit more. Hopefully the kids won't be too noisy as I bought them a new game for the Gamecube and they can take turns at that or help me paint. (I think I know which they will choose.) :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Washing is dry allthough it is cold and overcast and I will have a couple of loads to wash I should imagine when I unpack DS1's bag.
Well, best get us all washed and dressed.
See you later,
Smoky. xxxxxIf you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape 100 days of sorrow.......Chinese proverb

Morning all,
Thank you Pooky, Catowen and Nelski. I've been getting more and more disheartened with the daily every time I read it because of the negative comments and digs at Penny and myself, but your posts this morning made my day! :A
We had a lovely day at our brothers yesterday. It was great fun and Haribo behaved herself. She's coming round here for the day so I need to go and get the pork into the oven. If it stays dry we'll get the kids out into the air for an autumn walk but we'll have to wrap up warm though as it's freezing here. But that will give me an excuse to light the fire when we get back.
Aussie, your lounge looks lovely.
Outrageous monkey, here's the recipe for D&DD's Apple braid.

Morning all
Not been able to read the thread for a couple of days - hope things get back to normal SOON!
DD1 wedding yesterday - it was lovely! she wanted (and got) a very relaxed day. Most of it was OS - I made the cake and did the flowers for her, DGD as bridesmaid, and the button holes for everyone else - very moneysaving, very satisfying and very successful (though I say it myself) was only a small wedding - just 18 of us - but we all had such fun.......I wish we could do it all again.
We were all sitting having tea in bed this morning (DD2 and DS2 always come and sit on the bed and join us for this at the weekend) when DS2 asked me why I had the brides and bridesmaids flowers hanging upside down from the top of the bookshelf. I told him they had asked me to dry the flowers for them so it was the best place to keep them out of the way safely for the weeks it would take, and then we would be able to dismantle them and use the dried flowers to make a collage picture (DGD's idea) . He looked puzzled for a minute then asked me why I didn't just dismantle them straight away and put them in the dehydrator...................... because he has more sense than I do that's why!!!...they are now merrily drying away and look as if they are going to keep the colours much better than if I had left them exposed to air dry.
Breakfast was pancakes filled with stewed apples
Lunch will be fish with mashed potatoes, veg and parsley sauce
tea will be crumpets, cheese, salad and wedding cake in front of the fire
DH picking the last of the apples at the moment and I'm off to change a cross stitch chart that is driving me mad. It is a Jane Austen sampler but for some very strange reason the designer has only included 4 of her books in the chart - not 6. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to why 2 have been missed off either - it's not the 2 that were published posthumously, so the reasoning behind it escapes me, but I can't bear to stitch it the way it is so I have to re chart the top of the graph. Good job I have cross stitch charting software on my PC  and I am very thankful I was lucky enough to find the kit unused and complete with silks and fabric in a charity shop for £5 and hadn't paid the original price tag of £39.99
Right - off to start charting - have a nice SundayPeople Say that life's the thing - but I prefer reading
