  • Forgive me, but did anyone local actually think this was going to be a 'magical' experience? It's matchams for goodness sake!

My mother in law suggested a big family outing last month, I'm glad I put my foot down and made clear it would be a waste of time, not to mention several hundred pound.

Anyway, my thoughts are with those who have bought tickets. I notice the website is now closed down. I strongly suspect the 'leisure park' will close within the next few days.
  • As has just been posted, I have also been advised by Consumer Direct today, that unless WE go and personally experience it, there is no 'breach of contract' between us and the company. Despite everyone else's experience and the obvious problems. She likened it to a bad holiday experience where some people have problems, and others dont.

However, it does seem that going, may be the only way of standing a chance of getting the money refunded to our credit card. In this case my parents and I have tickets, but as I don't want to take my children anywhere near, my parents are just going to go in, take photos, then leave. They are going to make copies of their tickets first of course.

Fingers crossed it will be shut down anyway and then things should become more straightforward. Annoyingly, our tickets are for tomorrow.

She also advised me the next step is to follow up with a recorded letter to the company (with evidence ie photos if possible) and if no joy within 14 days, then start the process with the credit card company.

I also understand that unless the price of a single item was £100 (so in other words you bought a family ticket) the credit card is under no obligation to refund you. Bad news for those who purchased single tickets. This does however depend on the credit card company.

I hope this is helpful and would ask anyone else who has been given similar information to post it on here, I'm sure many people must have been given feedback now on how to get their money back if possible.

Good luck to everyone in getting your money back. Let's hope the whole thing is shut down as soon as possible.

I can offer no suggestions or advice but I wanted to say good luck to you all. This looks like an absolute shambles of a place, and i hope that trading standards can actually do something for once.

Perhaps it's purely co-incidence, but there appears to be someone posting under brand new usernames in several places inc Facebook etc, and the strange thing is, their story is almost identical.
But more strange, so are all their spelling and grammar mistakes.

I haven't read this whole thread, but has anyone else noticed the disclaimer? It's just unbelievable! How many people read disclaimers? Not me, but it looks like they've got a get-out clause:

For a start, calling travellers "!!!!!!" is very offensive, trust me. It ranks among saying "pakis", "wogs" or "niggers"

Race has nothing to do with it.
Er, quite. I can't see anyone mentioning race except you. "Travellers" are not a race. It's been tested in law, Mills vs Cooper - google it.

I knew it wouldn't be long before someone played the race card as defence - it's about as ignorant as calling Muslims a race.

It's nothing but a cheap and nasty scam.

It's incredible the way officials ho and hum telling us how they can't do anything, when the simple answer is that they shouldn't be in paid employment if they are so impotent.

These jokers clearly have every intent to drive whatever bulldozer they like through any regulation that prohibits their money making shennanigans in the clear knowledge that by the time authority catches up with them they'll have folded down and run off with the loot.

In earlier posts the participating parties to this disgraceful saga have been identified and having had one enterprise closed down, they clearly decided to perform a cash and grab raid to circumvent that ruling. What next ? a rocket launch ?

I think the authorities should consider this fiasco as contempt of the earlier legal ruling forbidding them from running racing at the site, and order them to return all funds, failing which all directors of that company and those associated, should be barred from running a company.

If the local authority cannot do anything against people who defy planning regulations, why do we support them by paying their salaries ?

If I tried selling party balloons in the street, the police would be on me in a trice.

If you know who their bankers are I would feel inclined to write and inform them that you intend to reclaim your money in full, and that they should not transfer money out of the account until your claim is submitted. If they do you intend to hold them accountable. That should hinder their cashflow.

    UNOFFICIAL NEWS ALERT!

I have just spoken to my credit card company about getting a refund for tickets booked for 21st Dec and the lady said she is under the impression that tomorrow there will be announcement that trading standards will be CLOSING down the Winter Wonder Crapland... Yipeee.

She said it will be much easier to get a refund as it will be for "services not rendered" rather than a dispute.

    HTH

    Alison x

THAT IS FABULOUS NEWS ALISON -THANKS (FINGERS VERY TIGHTLY CROSSED!)

"P!key is a pejorative slang term used primarily in the United Kingdom, originally referring to Irish travellers" - pejorative meaning contempt or disapproval.
  • I too bought tickets to this fiasco last weekend and am trying to get my money back.

I don't know if this will help anyone who like me only bought the tickets recently but there was a sentence in the t&c'son their web site that said 'refunds cannot be made outside of 10 days of purchase'.Which I'm assuming backwardly means you have 10 days in which you can request a refund.

I sent a 'special delivery' letter to them (to get there today)cancelling the tickets as it is within the 10 days.

I realise they won't honour it but I'm hoping it will help with the credit card company ,as they will have renaged on the agreement, and I have a copy.
I don't want to buck the system....I just want it to WORK!!!
