Lapland New Forest Scam. How to get money back...
Comments

I would just like to say that although slightly warey of buying tickets myself I did so because my child is desperate to see snow and loves everything to do with Christmas, and done right this could have been a true magical experience for a lot of families.
I don't think we need to be debating whether some people(a small minority!) may have enjoyed it or not, hopefully some children have. The thing is that we were all misled to believe this would be something it clearly is not, and it does not come close to. Queues I can understand and could even tolerate if everything else was done as advertised. So you can't blame them for queues or even the weather, but we can blame them for falsely advertising an event that just isn't there.
I have tickets for later on in December and half tempted just to go and see the snow if any left as telling my child we were no longer going brought her to tears, but I would much rather get it closed down and get my money back. I would sign the petition! I wasn't expecting the real Lapland but did expect to be able to enjoy a nice Christmassy family day out.
Where do i sign......0 -

Oh and when you've learnt, pass on your new-found knowledge to your good friend Henry Mears, so that the website advertising his next scam is a little more professionally put together.0 -

Lots of people have been affected by this. There's lots of useful info in this thread but here's some important tips:
Did you pay on a credit card?
Any spending on a credit card over £100 is covered by Section 75 of the consumer credit act and means the card company is equally liable so you may be able to get your money back. So those who bought multiple tickets may be able to get moneyback this way.
The one problem here is technically the £100 must be a single item. Yet this is not well defined so it's worth trying anyway! Full info and template letters are in the section 75 guide.
Did you pay on a Visa debit or credit card?
If so you may be able to use the 'Chargeback' rules to try and reclaim cash. This is where the Visa processes allow your bank to ask for money back from the person/company you paid's bank. Again full info the section 75 guide.
Paid another way?
Just contact your bank and tell it what's happened. The huge publicity about this and the Christmas theme may make it sympathetic.Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

UNOFFICIAL NEWS ALERT!
I have just spoken to my credit card company about getting a refund for tickets booked for 21st Dec and the lady said she is under the impression that tomorrow there will be announcement that trading standards will be CLOSING down the Winter Wonder Crapland... Yipeee.
She said it will be much easier to get a refund as it will be for "services not rendered" rather than a dispute.

We've got 4 tickets for this Saturday (!) and obviously don't want to go now but can I claim if we don't go ? Anybody know how I stand ? Don't really want to drag the kids all the way down there (2 hours from ours) just to disappoint them (luckily they don't know anything about it yet !).
Do you think they would know whether we went or not if we just make a claim after Saturday ? (or is that a no-no !)
Consumer Direct advised me today that unless we went (our tickets for the 13th Dec) then we have nothing to complain about under the supply of goods and services act. I am loathe to drag my children on a 3 hr round trip and trash their idea of Christmas and spend money on petrol. It seems unfair that without doing this, we have no redress.0 -
OH NO !!!!!
Ivan Hancock, principal Trading Standards officer for Dorset County Council, said: "I'm staggered at the number of complaints we have had in a short space of time.
We've already had over 50 this morning. That's quite alarming.
"We are looking at what enforcement action is appropriate. It does appear as though some misdescriptions have been applied."
He added that the department did not have the power to shut down the attraction.0 -
In case anyone's still not sure, there's video from inside here
