Hi Tirl
i live just outside cardiff in caerphilly.
you are doing really well. i would love to pay off my o/d's. that would be a big chunk of our debt gone!Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
Well, the thing that took me back into o/d (which I haven't been on for ages, except for the last 3months) was a course I hadn't budgeted for, but did anyway. In the end, I'm not 100% sure it was worth it though I enjoyed it at the time.
My main pain is the student loan. I didn't know I had to start paying it back and for the first year it gathered interest without being paid at all . My next aim is to pay off all the accumulated interest before end of the year, after cc is paid end of August.
Where are you off to this weekend? I was supposed to head up S!!!!horpe way to a friend's bbq that I haven't seen in ages, but decided I couldn't afford it as we're off to Scotland next week for bf's nephews naming ceremony.DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0 -
dh's parents live near manchester and they haven't seen the baby for ages. (can't see why they can't visit us but they you are) so bit of a guilt trip.
was also my best mate's b'day last month and didn't get round to sending her present up so will be making a detour to drop that off too.
i suppose i'm quite lucky. my student loan payments (UK) get taken straight out of my pay and the interest is really low so i'm not rushing to pay that off when i've got other things to worry about (o'd, car loan and dh's c/c)Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
Hi, I have just read this thread from the start, and I have to say that you are a lovely bunch!!!!! You are really supportive and you have had a lot of fun along the way. Love that you still have holidays (and handbags) lives (and shoes) etc but bust your debt at the same time.
Just a thought Tirlittan, you have probably thought of it anyway, but is it worth doing a balance transfer to pay off your student loan? Your virgin one is nearly finished and you have done so well busting that, and you would stop paying transfer fees etc to send the money over and you wouldnt have to worry about the exchange rate. Shall return to lurkdom, but was just a thought (takes coat and makes a quick exit!!!!!)

Awww PAID hun.... it sounds like a total different me writing that post!
Oh its butt kicking time PAID, I'll kick yours if you kick mine!
I booked a holiday to NY and we cant afford it..... and these debts are dragging me down and Ive got no idea how to actually do anything about it, just paying off interest all the time.
We've not got a good enough credit score to get any good deals..... and it just sucks... and Im not helping myself at all by booking holidays and spending money i dont have and using my credit card....:(Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
From someone who may be relatively objective CAFCgirl, I dont blame you. It is gut wrenching trying to pay off debt month after month and not having any life, and your job is very full on, and you are tired, probably run down de da de da de da. Sit down and look at your budget and see where you can find the money. Itll be there somewhere. Do you have any offers at all that you can use - Any paid off cards that could be rang to get an offer? If all else fails, you may have to increase your debt to pay for the holiday - not the worst thing in the world, so long as you work out what you are going to do to sort it out - at least that way you only need to find spending money. NYC will be costly though, and you need to budget for this - shoes/handbags - need I say more?!?
Dont beat yourself up, what is done is done - enjoy your holiday when you get it. Maybe your need for a holiday shows that you are not getting enough free time? (Just a thought) and need a bit more relaxation - your job is definately full on!
(I know, I Know, Im off should have put my coat on first time, but it is so hot!!!! - and I am such an expert in spending first and working out how to pay for it later .....)
