Lol, I think the Orla Kiely suitcase is looking further and further away!

If myself and OH put our heads down at AQA we could prob have the flights paid in 2 months. Need to focus though.

Hi CMD - I understand where you are coming from - but it depends how close a family you are I think.... and how much you value your holidays. It is a never to be repeated event...

One of my many sister's is living abroad with someone I have never met in a very expensive place to visit too.... (not very safe either)! She is making plans to get married but we've said we probably can't go - we want to clear our debts, we are not that close, and it is somewhere a) we don't feel is that safe to go and b) is ultra expensive and that we would never choose to go to.... I wouldn't mind so much but she is having 2 wedding ceremonies - one in a much more holiday destination - but she doesn't want us at that one!!! I expect you probably think I'm hard and cruel??! :o Families!

Her attitude is we should just go back into debt to afford it but we are not willing to do that. We have almost no contact throughout the year - I probably see her on average for about 4 hours a year - would you part with £3k? We have nothing in common really other than a very unhappy childhood....?! I do feel guilty about it. I've said perhaps I will go on my own but that would be very uncomfortable... I genuinely worry about my safety too!

    Hi

CMD - sounds great about going to Australia, I went there for 3 weeks in 2000 to see my brother as he was working there, it was 3 weeks after I got together with OH so kept ringing him up while I was away to make sure he didn't forget about me. Here we are nearly 9 years and 3 kids later where has the time gone.

I just won £5 on one of the free scratchcards on a certain site (not sure if I'm allowed to mention it) so I'm at just over £9 on there now (have £1.50 bonus but not sure how I use that).

Will be Ebaying like crazy the next few days while the kids are away, just closed my Ebay Shop as it is costing £14.99 a month and I only had 15 listings so hardly worth it really, am sure my monthly fees will be less now.

Will update when I have more debt busting news.

    Hi SavingH,

I don't think your hard at all, especially if she is holding the wedding in a place that is unsafe.

One of the reasons we are going is because I am close to my brother and also because we have some really close friends living over there as well who will have very new babies. We can see them all at the same time and have a really good holiday too.

When we have our own family I think we more selective about where we go and defo won't be booking tickets at the drop of a hat.

It's a shame your sister is putting so much pressure on you. I am lucky in that my brother didn't at all. That's probably why we booked it.

    Wow TooMuch,

9 years and 3 kids!!! You are a quick mover! I have been with my OH for 8 years and it is only now we are thinking about children. Maybe I am slow. Lol!

    Hi CMD

We had our first daughter in June 2004, I got pregnant again when she was 4 months old (nice surprise) so she was born in July 2005 and 3rd daughter was born in May last year, we were trying for a boy. That is enough now as I am 40 now (OH is 40 in July) so I suppose we both tried for kids early as we weren't getting any younger and weren't sure how long it would take (took 14 months to conceive DD1, I was 35 when she was born).

    Hiya all!
And nice to see ShellyC and Snow White back.

First day back at work after hols :(. Not too bad actually.

Getting bit annoyed with my internet connection at home, just can't get on most of the time, so can't put anything on ebay or check amazon sales. Grrr!!!
Waiting for an amazon voucher from Toluna, do they really take 8 weeks to arrive??? Was going to put that towards new wireless dongle. Hoping that'll get me online. Did a list at weekend and have 32 items to put on ebay! But can't...

Not feeling too much off post holiday blues, but a bit as bf went straight to do Hadrian's Wall with his mate. I think when I get rid off Virgin cc and up my payments,I'll be able to bring my DFD forward hopefully by a year! I hope so. Almost want it to be September already so I'd only have the student loan left to pay.
    DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!
Proud to have dealt with my debts!
