I'm sure the rats wont mind!

I've always wondered about rats, are they friendly and easy to keep? Dont think I could get one though as I have a cat and dog that like small furries! LOL

Are you planning on treating yourself today?

Hope you have a great day whatever you are doing

They make fantastic pets, very clean & intelligent & can be clicker trained but they only live to be 2.5-3yrs old really, *some* make 4 but not many. You need at least 2, preferably three, mine cost about £400 to set up & now are pretty cheap with ongoing costs.

However, some people think being a small pet a rat is cheap @ the Vets! Mine cost just under £100 as they are prone to respitory infections & mammary tumours & if all 6 had got ill it coulda been nearer £600!

I have a cat, dog & the rats, the first day the dog stood on her back legs, shaking & whining (First time she saw them) since then she's totally ignored them & the cat knows to leave them alone but sometimes watches them. Cat would come off worse anyhow!

Not doing anything, had the Dr's this morning for my injections what fun, waiting for the dog food/frontline delivery which idk if it even comes today! lollll

And yeah i'm paranoid about this damn Patterdale being about, he seems quite nervous too, they've taken the scaffolding down so maybe they'll be off soon but before she goes out i've been going out to check where he is & if he's tied up! !!!!!! can't they neuter or keep him tied up!

i dont understand why the dog is out with them anyway. are they working for the council? if it was me i would have gone out and asked them to make sure hes tied up at all times!
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire

I think their company are hired by the council to do the painting & what not yeah, so not actual council employees but hired by them. Apparently the dog is the boss'. I told them it needs to be tied up when I take her out but !!!!!! it takes them forever to get him, he has 0 recall, all these grown guys running about trying to catch him!

And he's round the back when tied up but that's right next to a park & has a cat sized hole in the fence he could get thru, if he's not neutered & I really don't think he is from as close as I could get, why's he off lead! He totally ignores them!

And what's the betting if i'm out with mine on the grass & he comes up & she bites him (She hates dogs) I get done not him even tho i've said she's in season & hates other dogs??

You won't get done so long as your dog is on the lead and he's off it... You dog is by law under control and he isn't so the police won't even entertain the "case"... They're not interested in dog on dog attacks anyway and especially not if the other dogs owner tries to make a claim when HIS dog was off leash and thus legally not under control... infact HE'd be liable for anything the dog did as by law the dog should be under control...
I'd put both her harness and collar on if you go out - if she slips one maybe she won't slip the other?

lol i'm gonna do that when the other lead arrives to see how she goes but for now just the collar, I can't get it over her head her heads too wide but i'm not of course gonna really really try but I did do quite a reasonable try! She has a long long neck & her head isn't quite full Staff sized but still seems too wide for the collar to go over. I think they've gone now!

What's annoying is they knew I had the dog here cause I called them before they even began work & they know which flat cause the cats ramp is outside where the dog is & I mentioned the ramp too in case it needed moving, they coulda said! If it hadn't been barking i'da gone out not knowing! Mine doesn't seem too bothered until he's barking at the window but she's still not going out when he's there!

Wow its quite expensive and the vet bills  they are quite cute tho!

Hope your delivery came today and they managed to get the dog under control! Have you been taking Chaya out? I just got Cola (my dog) spayed and am so relieved now all the messy seasons are over, she only had one but that was enough to cope with! LOL

Nope she's grounded! She only walks around the flats up as far as the road! lol I have no idea how to tell when they're done cause they don't bleed all through do they? No good counting three weeks it may vary! She looks done now but can't be it's only been a week! I would say I can't wait to get her done but I hate them having ops & would feel better if it was my own Vet, but at the same time i'll be relieved when it's all sorted & she won't have this again, why the heck can't people neuter as Pups then old dogs like mine wouldn't have all the risks!
  • I betya she will be cool - Badge was speyed just before I got her, probably aged about 5, and sailed through.

Hope your birthday was ok, I hated turning 30, I still havent got over it am I am 35 now:eek:

Yeah I hateeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee being 30 but there was alot of issues with it, was suprised tho even my Dad & Bro got me cards (First time in god knows how many years!)

Yeah i'm sure Chaya will be fine, i'll probably use the local animal ambulance people to transport her there & back, I don't mind if it's more than a taxi for a one off it's all properly fitted out to transport them properly & stuff. (And he can carry her to the door if need be! lol)

Least the cat will have a break for the day! It's not to bad, £111.96 I think (With the 20% discount). This is if she's over 12.5kg, shall I be moneysaving & starve her? Save on food + cheap neutering! (JOKE before i'm reported!). The rescue refund £60.00 for females & £35.00 for males once they recieve a signed neutering voucher from the Vet but I think i'll have them keep it.

Looking into where to send her while i'm on holiday. In theory I have three booked, but will probably only do two of them as this was before I even knew i'd be getting her! The lady in the village will take her for the one in September & have her at home with her on her barge. She can't have her in March tho & I won't put her in kennels! (Think it'd make her think she was being left again & the noise must really do yer head in & i'm sure they're cold even with lamps!)

Shame my Dad can't have her lmao he did have a woman (g-f) & her dog there but the dog died on Saturday & the woman moved back to her Hubby  But he works 6 days a week so that's no good. There's holiday homes where people take them in but idk? I mean idk how she is with kids for one. It's one thing walking her by the primary school when they're coming in & out & having her sat by them in pet shops, where she's on a lead & being watched, but in a home?

I dunno what she's like, I imagine fine but don't know. None have touched her as yet. Maybe they have adult only homes idk & what if she escapes?! I might not even go yet. Can't see me sending her to kennels tho, I didn't get a dog to make it think it's being sent back to rescue. Still that's ok I won't go unless I can find somewhere i'm 100% sure she's happy at.

Even the cat has only gone into a Cattery 2x in almost 9yrs. Guess i'll wait & see if anything suitable comes up, maybe they'll have some retired people with no kids on the books or something. Shame she hates other dogs she could stay with my mate who's Dad is retired & home all day but she just homed the female Border Collie! Her Sis said she would but she has a 2.5yr old Boxer (Male so they might be ok but not castrated so I wouldn't chance that) & a baby so she's out!

I might ask a friend on Facebook, his Fiancee is a Vet Nurse so maybe she'll know somewhere good, they have two Labs or i'd think of them! lol still idc if I don't go & it's only a few days. Any suggestions anyone? I'm in the East Midlands (Leicestershire)

LOL Lily I'd say drop her here but I have Kira (the most insane bouncy GSD/BC cross) 2 moody cats and by March I'll be 7 months pregnant. Normally I'd have no problem getting two dogs to get along, even aggressive ones, but with a belly the size of a small planet I won't be as agile or energetic as usual :)
Kira has both ended up back in kennels for short stays and with a list of friends :) She loves her little holidays (well not the kennel ones but I think that's mainly because she usually gets a bath before I pick her up! They do a great service there when you can tell them what time you want to pick them up and they'll make sure they are washed & dried just before you arrive... bonus!) however there are loas of places that allow dogs. And as for kids indoors - you'll probably find she's fine so long as they are wellbehaved - running and screaming in my mind could set of ANY dog...
