Hi lbt
I'm planning to grow lots in containers this year, including....
Carrots
Spring onions
Radish
Tomatoes
Marrows
Lettuce
Spinach
Rocket
I'm also going to be growing some other veg in the garden, probably runner beans and beetroot, with a view to growing even more in 2010 (once I've learnt more of the art of veg growing)

sorry been away for the night at BIL 21st party.
I would buy good quality bulbs from a garden centre (then there is no P&P) or online with a mind to saving the best bulb for planting next year.
When saving seeds for example beans I look for a healthy plant that cropped early then I mark that plant and save the bean seed from that plant without harvesting any beans from it. Let it dry and then I have a good supply of seed for next year. The reason I pick one that produced crops early is so that the seed produces lots of plants that are early next year.
Save pepper seed. I screen off a very healthy strong pepper plant with fleece and then once two good peppers have turned red I harvest the seed from them. Remove fleece and harvest the rest of the peppers as normal.Kind Regards

This is great - thank you so much. I was wondering how to save seeds.
I will visit our garden centre tomorrow to pick up some garlic too - hopefully I am not too late.0 -
