Afternoon peeps - we had a bit of snow yesterday but it washed away mighty quickly in the torrential rain:rolleyes:
My hands feel ancient and dry today because I have been busy sandpapering my new (old) tea trolley/table - it is oak but has been covered in some sort of dark brown/black gunk (guess over the years it has never been cleaned properly). It cost me £20 in the local charity shop and I uhmmed and aahed about it all weekend before trotting back this morning. It is quite a clever thing it looks like a tea trolley but if you slide the top backwards the bottom shelf comes up and it has two brass hinges that you move to hold the top up and it converts into a table. I love sandpapering but its hard work so i have left it for a while and will tackle it again later.
I am supposed to writing assignments but got distracted by the table/trolley:rolleyes: I just lurve tinkering with things - my love of wood I got from my granddad and the tinkering generally from my dad:D
Sorry to spread wood dust everywhere, I shall just sit on this newspaper to avoid getting the chairs mucky and have a hot chocolate and a slice of apple pie.0 -
Hi all.
Ooh, that bean casserole smells good, I think I'll have a helping..... Yum.
Been AWOL for 3 days, as Mr LW had Friday off, and I'm almost never online at weekends.
Hope everyone's well and warm.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Brrr...it is cold - I have had to put my oil filled radiators on (one was on all day yesterday) - thankfully they have thermostats on them so they switch themselves on and off:D
I am thinking of my christmas list (and birthday which is on Saturday) and I am thinking that I would like some draught excluders and some shelves or even a proper filing cabinet. I shall also want some pampering so hopefully any monies I receive will go towards this.
I hate this biting cold - my right elbow hurts like hell today and I am sure its because the weather is cold, have no idea what the pain is other than it comes from a break that I had in 2003 (I fell and broke my radial head and humerus head:eek: ) since then if the weather is exceptionally cold or damp it starts to hurt:rolleyes:
I need more than a fire today, a hot fleecy blanket and some hot casserole will go down a treat. Brrrr...it is so cold I might just leave you all and go and clamber under the covers.0 -
Brrrr .... it's frosty out side here still. I was watching the birds in my garden this morning and the woodpecker made me smile as he pecked a hole in the ice in the birdbath to get a drink!I hate this biting cold - my right elbow hurts like hell today and I am sure its because the weather is cold, have no idea what the pain is other than it comes from a break that I had in 2003 (I fell and broke my radial head and humerus head:eek: ) since then if the weather is exceptionally cold or damp it starts to hurt:rolleyes: .
Horace ; It is more than likely the reason for it. I cracked my shoulder blade in a riding accident during my teens and had them pain in them for years afterwards, including a short period of time before the cold snap started. I've never really understood the reason why it happens, but I've noticed the pain in my arthritic joints is similar in patterns too, so it somehow makes sense to me now.
We had parents evening with DS's college tutors last night ...... and found out he only has a week left to make his uni applications with UCAS  . (He should get top honours in leaving things to the last minute!) Still, they are pleased with his work and think he's capable of fulfilling his dreams - I'm so chuffed for him because he's naturally born to his chosen field and I can't imagine him doing anything else.
I'll have a large cappacino to kick start me into getting some chores done today. I've got so far behind recently and I do want to get my new 15 tog duvet (am I allowed to say I got it at Morrisons for £6 at the weekend??!) on my bed today.
Hope everyone's well.
Just noticed I'm first in so kettles on and shepherds pie's in the oven for dinner (quorn ones for vegetarians included). Anyone else fancy spotted !!!!!! with custard for pudding?0 -
Hi Bluedog
Men always leave things to the last minute - hopefully DS will send off his UCAS form this week otherwise he will be University-less next year.
Oooh Shepherds Pie - my favourite and Spotted !!!!!! with thick custard...mmmm I will have a portion of both please and a large cappuccino to wash it down.
I have been lax today - my flat looks like a tornado has been through it (I can't be @rsed to sort it out), I nipped out this morning to post a birthday card and wondered about going to the post office because I have run out of stamps so that I could post something else then remembered that I can save on postage by hand delivering it. Nipped to the local hardware shop for a pot of Brasso (need to clean the brass fittings on my new old table) and stopped off at my local florist. I keep calling her Mollie after her shop name but her name is Sharon:rolleyes: she has been really helpful whilst I have been setting up my business and has agreed to provide me with some flowers for my exhibition stand next February:j I am hoping to blag balloons from another shop and maybe even a couture dress:D I also need to crack on with my assignments - I have written them but not typed them up or submitted them for marking:rolleyes: One thing that I did do this morning - a machine full of washing which is currently drying.0 -

Hello all, I've been painting with my grandaughters, not sure it was such a good idea,I don't know who's got most paint on them, me or them!!! never mind it was fun. We've been making bells for the tree from egg boxes. I think I'll do the glitter though.
I've been planning how to spend £100 worth of Netto vouchers my OH got the other day from the Social Club he belongs to. I could buy one of each item in netto for that!!:D Solves the where to get the turkey from debate.
It's cold but bright here, a line full of washing's dried already. Just as well, the tumble drier gave up the ghost yesterday:( I don't think I'm going to get another, maybe get another clothes horse and just use that.
Shepherds pie smells good, I love it!Spotted !!!!!! and thick custard- oh yum I never get any of that cos I'm the only one who likes it so I never make it, and don't feel I can justify the cost of buying one. (even with all those Netto vouchers!!) Sounds like things are coming together for the exhibition Horace.Sealed Pot Challenge member 28
