Af'noon all, another late start today, but I've managed to get quite a few chores done. Just closed the windows and the upstairs curtains for the day. It doesnt get warm here untill the curtains are closed, too many draughts coming through the windows but I am assured the new secondary units will be fited next tuesday and wednesday so crossfingers.gif for that.

hope you're all having a good day. I'll just take a cup of tea and did someone mention walnut cake? ;)

... newspaper cut into squares to use in the loo, only ever had proper toilet paper on special occasions. ....

That was my regular chore at my gran's, to tear the newspapers into squares, make a hole with a big nail, thread string through and hang it on another big nail on the wall.

What else do I remember, lets see .........

My gran had a built in brick boiler in the 'outhouse'; the cat used to always come with me to the loo, a big fat lovely tortoiseshell called ..........ummm, mind's gone totally blank so I'll fill that in later :o

I remember our old rayburn stove, dad heating bricks in the oven and then wrapping them in a towel for us to take to bed (I was only little so I got half a brick, no just joking :D)

I remember taking a bottle of made up watery squash (I liked it watery) and a bag of jam sandwiches and going off with a couple of friends. We'd spend all day roaming and playing in the woods and no one worried about us as long as we were home before dark.

I remember climbing back over a fence after scrumping in an orchard, got my trousers caught on barbed wire and the seat ripped right out of them, and I remember the real ear-bashing from my mother about that :D

    later peeps peace-1.gif
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

zzzLazyDaisy I love Baileys. How did you know? I love it in coffee too.

Just got in from work. My colleagues' are driving me demented. Never mind it's nearly the weekend. :wall:

And my partner's car needed £150 worth of essential repairs yesterday.

Today I managed to eat toast with my new teeth in. Chocolate's just not happening, not yet, at least not in the real world. :silenced:

    Afternoon peeps.

Kpwll - I am doing a diploma in professional wedding planning - to be honest I am only after the logo to use on my website and my stationery, plus the silly nanas running the course have said that if I don't earn the money that I paid for the course (£520) they will refund it:rotfl:

I have now become fascinated by these new teeth of Ally's:o - I hope you don't mind me asking a question? Now you see the ads on the TV for the goop that sticks them in and stops them moving about when you are eating, what makes me wonder is how you take your teeth out to clean them after all the advert says that by using their goop they stick and don't flop out:confused: Ally its easy to eat chocolate - break a bit off and stick it in your mouth and suck:D

Its cold and gloomy here - I nipped out to put my HB cheque in the bank (I do wish they wouldnt pay it in arrears and then I have to wait another two weeks for the next cheque:mad: ). I went to the butchers and got some meat along with a lump of beef fat for my joint, I stopped by the cake shop too and treated myself to a pineapple cream (only fake cream but I don't care).

I have spent the afternoon on the phone talking to a magician whom I met at the wedding show. He was good...I couldnt see how he did it and I watched him closely:D

Thanks, I'll just have a sliver of that chocolate fudge cake, no - bigger than that :D ! and a banana smoothie mmmmmmm.......coins clinking.

Long day at work today, and I'm now off to do the weekly shop Hooray - not  .

Anyway, hope youse all okay and hope to see you all out and about again tomorrow.

Ally - you could have melted chocolate :rotfl:
  • Well that's the third DLA form to collapse on me....All I had left to do was sign the final bit and submit it....4 or 5 working days to sort out....

I'll just go and sulk in the corner, if I may, black, black, black coffee with Tia Maria please, and skip the milk on this occasion. If there are any chocolate scones left, I'll take a couple into my corner and try not to leave too many crumbs....

Horace, I'm confused by the advert too. I don't actually need the fixative; mine stay in by themselves. Maybe you need an anti-glue to get them out. :D

As for chocolate, sucking works but then it sticks to everything. Think I'll just go on a diet.

    Afternoon all.

I'm a tad late today, as my friend phoned, and she tends to natter for quite a while. I'm hoping that we can meet up at a pub near her place in the near future to catch up properly.:D

I've made some nut loaf; I'll just put it over here, help yourselves.

Large black coffee for me please..... oh and isn't Magenta's virtual puppy a little sweetheart?

Virtual crumbs being swept up as we speak.
Wish the real world was that easy.
The paperwork in front of me has grown bigger and my fingers are knitting themselves into spelling mistakes. My freezer has developed an odd fault, the top shelves are defrosting but the lower ones are OK. Engineer came two months ago but the fault had rectified itself. Typical. Now he can't come until Tuesday so I am likely to lose some contents. Insured, thank goodness.. but hassle.
Anyway a nice hot lemon and ginger tea with toasted teacake... please.

Well done on getting the form done! Best of luck for the result, no chocolate scones, HOWEVER I do have a rather large slice of P F Changs "The Great Wall of Chocolate Cake", will that do instead?
