Bacon butty and a mug of tea for me this morning. Its quite mild here, but damp and very autumn

I've got to tidy my (real) kitchen this morning and do some baking - wish it was as easy to keep tidy as this kitchen ;)

Have a good day all, catch you later :)
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

mmmmmm Rosie, I can smell that baking from here.....

It is a dank, damp, dingy day here today. Somehow I missed the autumn - one day the leaves were starting to turn.... the next time I looked the trees are mostly bare!

Had my flu jab today - I am sure it is my imagination but I can TASTE it for ages!

  • hang about, since when did we have to start paying for drinks ?
    - I thought MSE subsidised the cafe to keep us old crocks out of mischief .... especially after all the work we do to keep the place spick and span and also provide all the necessaries ....

Horace comes in - finds the door open and the lights still on:eek:

Spends time putting out the cats, putting the fire guard on the fire, cleaning down all work tops and tables, stacks the dishwasher and puts it on, sweeps all crumbs onto a shovel and puts them in the bin.

Gets some food out of the freezer to defrost over night:

6 Victoria Sponges (need jam and cream)
2 Tubs of Soup (marked up as being any flavour:eek: )
Brown Bread, White Bread and Seeded Bread

Switches off lights, closes door and puts the key under the flowerpot.
  • Morning all... key found under flowerpot - covered in ants (yeuch)...

    Oh lookie, food .....

Right, kettle on, toaster warmed up and the porridge bubbling gently on a low heat.

A 15lb beef joint put into the oven (slow cook), with a turkey for afters (someone put that on in a couple of hours). We can have roast potatoes, brussels, peas, green beans - all with lashings of gravy - the yorkshire pudding mixture is ready, so that's something else to remember for later this morning.

I'll start filling the sponges for when the hordes descend. One of the soups is green pea and the other chicken broth.

Suppose I'd better settle down with a coffee and the morning paper for a while and let the beef slowly cook...
