Know that feeling Trialia, for me it was pethidine and morphine to get through ovulation and my period.....then from there it prgressed to having to be on strong pain relief all the time and never stopping bleeding.
Mine was done because of endometriosis, an enlarged womb and the final nail in the coffin (womb wise), early stage cervical cancer for the 4th time. They thought it would just be best to whip it out than keep going with me in tremendous pain, loss of blood (which brings its own problems) and the ongoing and constant threat and treatment of cancerous cells.
*nods* I don't have any painkillers that save me from being in bed all day for at least the first day of my period, usually the first two. Mine is due to nerve damage in my lumbar area, caused by the fall that ultimately caused my fibromyalgia. Anything that affects the nerve sensations in that area causes me agonising pain. Even things that should be pleasurable.Homosexual, Unitarian, young, British, female, disabled. Do you need more?0 -
Social services lost my care assessment referral, so I'm not even on the waiting list yet, am somewhat unamused! I have just sorted out my referral to CHUMS- who're a befriending service in our area, so that I'll be able to go out without mum, and when mum's too busy, which is fab! Another thing with a nice long list unfortunately though I think the waiting time can vary depending on the age of the volunteers they have etc. I HATE using the phone, so very happy I managed to make 2 phone calls even if I was some kind of quivering *can't breathe* wreck
Hey, though, WELL DONE on doing the phone calls; I'm such a wuss with phones, Mr LW does any calls I need to makre for me.
Don't think I could do the CHUMS thing though; the social phobia would kick in.:(*sighs* I would love to be allowed to get one. I've wanted them to just shut my reproductive capabilities off since I was about 15 - I've never wanted kids and still don't, and my periods are hell - last time I had to call the on-call doctor on a Sunday because I couldn't take my painkillers without throwing them back up again.
Was gonna put more, but Mr LW just put a plate of food in front of me.....:AIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Hi Invasion _ I've been with our charity for over 3 years now and we do virtually anything we're asked! We usually get referrals from SS or MHT and we usually get paid for it.
I especially like teaching life skills to enable people to live with greater independence - that can be cooking, shopping, budgeting, accessing . . .
The list is endless. Sometimes its just providing companionship or encouraging a person to join a group.
I had some really great support when I needed it and it gave me the confidence to get back out there and learn to drive!
Like many of us on these boards I sometimes find it easier to see through some else's problem and reach the solution. Also (forgive the wording but I hope you get the gist) when you see someone with problems far worse than yours it helps make you realise what's important.
I'dreally like to become an Advocate in the future . . but its a lot of training and ,for now, I'vr got my hands full!
It sounds like you could do with some one who knows the system a bit better.
Have you got a list of charities in your area? Try anything which has 'lifestyles' in its name!
Best of luck

Invasion Im sorry lifes so hard for you, but accept the OT assesment, they can be a big help and not just with aids around the house. If the OT can see that you cant bath or do any of these things then she/he may help you with getting a carer in . I hope you get the help you need soon, dont give up hope.
Thanks for everyones experiences of a hysterectomy, if thats the outcome I wont worry so much now, but this time Ive just been refered for a hystescopy, where they do the camera thingy, I just hope they find something they can treat.
I hope everyones enjoying the bank holiday weekend.Real stupidity beats artificial intelligence every time.

Not sure I will sleep much tonight as youngest's chest appears to be brewing something and his peak flows are down (not enough to get medical advice at this moment in time)...at this point he could one of two ways, shake it off without drama or go the whole hog and end up in hospital...I'm hoping this time is going to be different to the last two occasions he has been like this.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

I think this might go the same way as the other two times...peak flows are now down over 40% despite regular reliever and steroid boost and he is starting to struggle a little.
We've been told to hang fire, see how he gets on over the next couple of hours to give the steroid boost a chance to get into his system properly...oh how I hate this, I would feel much more comfortable if he was being monitored properly instead of getting me to judge on my own, I'm so scared I will get it wrong.
And it is always a blooming Sunday! We made it! Hoping the steroids kick in and you can enjoy a stress-free day

Last round of inhalers seemed to have worked better...peak flow has risen a little which has taken us away from the real danger zone.
For the moment.....
Edit - Hehe, he is obviously feeling a lot better, we have farm yard noises now! Could we have dodged the bullet this time? Think I will still keep my fingers crossed on that one.We made it! And now a further improvement in peak flow to almost safe zone for the moment (still down a bit though but a hell of a lot better than it was!)

and as morag veyr kindly reminded me on facebook, i havent begged here for votes for my cat, so would any of you mind swinging by and giving whitney a vote? if you havent seen it on my facebook and already voted that is
simply click or copy and paste, stick in an email addy and 66 is my whitney (still miss her terribly). its one vote per pet per person so you can vote for others if you want too, but any duplicate votes (and i think she is checking ips) dont get counted otherwise id go add a million votes myself lol
