Ha ha! Well Singlesue I sort of guessed that, but I was really hoping for you! What have you done!! Oh no! Did you feel you'd pulled something in your back straight away? Well I hope you haven't done too much damage.

Hope your little man will be ok although you're worrying and waiting for the phone to ring!

I've probably just too much strain on the discs as they are very dodgy. I'm not supposed to lift or carry much at all because there is so much damage in that area and because there is no cushioning, it just compresses the nerves when I do..that will account for the nerve pain, for the spasms, my back does that all the time anyway, just gets worse when I overdo things.

It doesn't stop me doing it again though, think I am much to stubborn to give in to my body just yet! :D
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

JoJo why are they offering you Council property that has steps? do they not know you are disabled?

They're only rehousing me because I'm disabled - that's the daftest bit about it! Today, they told me that if a car parked in its allocated space, I should get out, walk into the next road, round the corner, between the bin area, through the centre of a residents' car park, down the alley and up a slope. Then (as I didn't see this on Google Earth) I could 'hop' down 3 broken steps, which would get me into the house, where, wonder of wonders, there was a stairlift and they could possibly put a wet room in upstairs.

And the reason the property was vacant? The previous tenant was moved because she broke her leg falling down the steps.

I offered the Housing Officer the crutches, suggested he took them and tried it for himself, saying 'oh, and you'll be post surgery so non weight bearing on the right and you've got to get your temporary wheelchair up and down there for around 4 months.

Shame really, because according to them it was a beautiful house inside. Someone will be over the moon to have it. Just not me.

Really sorry that it's yet another disappointment Jojo, and a waste of time!

I've started decorating one of my crutches today... Just with buttons at the moment, waiting for diamante beads to put in the gaps and will probably extend them down further than they are at the moment.. but so far:

Oh, they should shrink down in size too, I've resized them on photobucket, sometimes it just takes a while for it to transfer.. Sorry for stretching the page!
  • They look very original, Invasion! Bright and cheerful, too - possibly not suited to me atm :D

They were from a company called Kaneshoes. They're an american company and they have tread on the bottom like trainers so they're much safer when it's slippy from leaves or ice or whatever. They come in loads of different colours, and they cost me £16.50 for the pair, including postage. Not cheap, but soo worth not ending up on my bum! and feeling safer with all the ice and snow that was around! Plus they look cool ;)

The original turquoise ones that matched my crutches came from here as did the crutches themselves. :)

Thanks Invasion - I got crutches with moulded handles (and *cough* rated for the larger user!) but the company doesn't sell ferrules (tcha!), I got the last lot from The Red Cross but as I said they are grey and boooooooring!

Hi LW I hope you havn't been over doing things at the weekend again ;)
I took your advice and joined the Flylady thread, DD made fun of me  but I did ok today I think. Luckily she's sort of moved out now, she stays at her boyfriends flat all week as its handy for work, and only comes home at the weekend as she likes to go out locally with her friends, so most of the time its just DH and me which means the house doesnt get as messy as it used to.
It's her day off today and we went to visit my Dad this morning, he's not doing too good now and is having a final short course of chemo to try and give him a bit longer , he's been told they cant do any more for him.
    Hope everyones ok

I nearly forgot to say, Invasion, I love your funky crutches
