Bigzippy, regarding the paracetamol to help sleeping - I already take 8 per day along with a range of painkillers, (there supposed to make the Meptid more effective), also take maximum Gabapentin, so can't take any more. I currently have 20 items on my prescription. Any other suggestions?

Sue, I have issues with temp. control and paracetamol isn't always effective, I have wonderful ice packs called Polar Powder Cold Pak. They are great for headpain, and also help for cooling. Chillows are very good too, and I've just come across this which I'll be getting as the nights get warmer. I often find the simplest, natural things work the best weirdly!
I've never seen them before Invasion but nearly had a heart attack at the price!

Saversue I was going to mention cold/ice packs too tho. I've got a couple of those Mr Men ones in the freezer and that in a towel did the trick the other night :) When I've had a few days of not being able to sleep I tend to change all the sheets on the bed, get the bedroom tidier (and more a place I want to be and relax) and have a bath and put on clean pjs and then just go and chill out. Tends to break the cycle a little and even if you don't drop off it's nicer and more relaxing to be in bed ;)

I'm one of the lucky ones in the summer (not so lucky in winter though) as my core temp is a lot lower than normal, so for me to be hot, it has to be absolutely sweltering outside...when I am nicely warm, everyone else is very hot. In winter though, I really really struggle to keep warm and being cold really makes my joints hurt.

My lower temp put the hospital staff in a panic when I had my hysterectomy, they took the temp, saw it was very low compared to a normal person (despite me feeling absolutely fine) and then proceeded to warm me up....I finally reached 'normal' temp and my body just couldn't cope and they had to go and get the fans to cool me down again.

Just back from a weekend away at my parents caravan, wouldn't say it was completely relaxing although the chance to have a freebie night out was nice but youngest really struggled to cope with the change of scenery and it was ministry of funny noises, funny movements and temper tantrums for the whole time.

It was a relief to come home tonight!

  • Received another house offer from the council. :D

Checked it out on the quiet.

15 broken concrete steps down from the road to the door. :(

And yet another pointless compulsory viewing tomorrow to confirm that the steps exist....

Ergh, Jojo, what a pain! I really hope that you find somewhere suitable soon!

BZ, being hot makes me so uncomfortable, and when my constant headpain decides to kick up then it affects my temp. Plus I'm nearly always hot, or the right temp in a strappy top in winter, and once I'm hot I can't cool down without something like an ice pack. Same goes if I get cold, warming up can take the whole day! The way I see it, my disability benefits are meant for exactly that kind of thing, and as I don't have a house to run on them I have more spare.

Those polar powder ice packs are sometimes in Home bargains for £1.99. And the little bruise size ones for kids are normally about 99p, they're really good if you're just a little too hot, specially if you put them on your wrists.

I also get through stick on cold patches/migraine patches like there's no tomorrow, the boots own brand are just as good as the brand names and cheaper. I've been looking at instant ice packs too as if I'm home alone and in huge amounts of pain I can't manage the stairs and so end up in unnecessary pain till someone gets home! Can get a box of 20 single use ones for around £10.00 so shall be trying those too... Cold addict, me?! ;)

Hope everyone manages a decent night's sleep! x
  • Good morning all,

Jojo, hope they don't ask you to "just try" the steps. I think it should be legal for anyone with a walking stick or crutch to be able to belt people round the head if they say something stupid.

Speaking of heads, I have a headache. Started some new tablets over the weekend which was not a good idea as I have a cold that's moved into my sinuses, so not sure whether it's the sinus issue or the tablets causing the headache......

Hope everyone has a good day.

JoJo why are they offering you Council property that has steps? do they not know you are disabled?

Sorry I've not been around (well I have just not been posting), too much pain etc going on and the SAD didn't help matters, I hope everyone has a great week!

Hello everyone, another Monday morning -to go with a Monday morning feeling!
Hi Oscar, sorry you've got a headache, do you think it's because of the new tablets or can't you say because of the cold? Hope it clears soon.:)

The Dragon, welcome back. I know what you mean about being around and not posting, I was like that over the weekend ... just couldn't get my head around enough to post! Hopefully your SAD will get easier now that spring is here - hopefully we'll get a bit of sun!

Jojo, what the hell is wrong with these people ... don't they know you're needs! Why do they offer places that are obviously unsuitable and make you go and see them! What a waste of time on your part aswell as theirs. Don't be bullied into taking anything that will make your life difficult!

, no I'm not a member of 'benefits and work' but I have been looking and reading different posts. I'm not sure if I would pay to join ... that it would be really worth it! I'm a little sceptical!!

Singlesue, sorry your weekend away at the caravan wasn't as relaxed as you'd hoped! Hope this week goes by without any dramas!

Hi to everyone else.:) Hope you all have a reasonably pain less (I wish) day!;)

Arrgggghh, I am in pain....did something very silly this morning.
Went shopping and got some cat litter, bigger bag than normal but still not out of normal scope for cat litter.....knew as soon as I picked it up that it was too heavy for me but by that time, it was too late.

Now I am walking about like an old woman with horrendous pains shooting down my legs and across my back plus unending back spasms.

Tobruk - Me a week without dramas? That would be like Eastenders without the Queen Vic! :rotfl:

To further add to my morning, youngest felt a little wheezy this morning and his peak flow is a little depressed (from 360 down to 260 but back up to 300 on having his reliever x 3), almost at borderline level for keeping him home. I have sent him in but am on tenterhooks now for getting that call.

Ha ha! Well Singlesue I sort of guessed that, but I was really hoping for you! What have you done!! Oh no! Did you feel you'd pulled something in your back straight away? Well I hope you haven't done too much damage.

Hope your little man will be ok although you're worrying and waiting for the phone to ring!
