  • Good luck with CT scan. He does sound a sweetheart. My Rheumi has a holistic attitude too and once he is reassured that you WANT to get well, he is very caring and honest too. I did say to him "Call me Jo" rather than Joanne and he said I'll note it on your file, but I'm sure to forget anyway. I like that kind of honesty.
Will keep fingers crossed all goes well for you.

    Hi everyone ...

I've been in lurk mode for months for several reasons and will spare a lot of details ... just nice to be back in the best place for whipped cream topped hot chocolate that's laced with brandy, lol.

After 2-3 years of complaining about side effects from various pills I've been told I have take, I'm now off them totally as I've finally been taken seriously and been diagnosed with ulcers in my stomach & duodenum coupled with an infection in my intestines. I've also got small stones in my gall bladder so finding foods I can eat without severe pain from any of it is a bit of a nightmare. There is so many foods I cannot eat now and though I could afford to lose a bit of weight, I really don't want to lose anymore. Winter is my worst time of year anyway and I would move to warmer climates for the duration if I could afford to ... thank goodness spring is almost here & hopefully some warmer weather over the coming months.

It's nice to see so many new faces (to me anyway) and look forward to getting to know you and re-connecting with the "oldies" here who may remember me.

Regarding the outbound trip, sue. I think it would be an incredible experience for him - if he is well enough. I hope consultanbt etc can help you come to a decision about it.

I once expressed a desire to take part in something like that and Rheumi looked at me like I was mad! *g*
I got that sort of reaction when I wanted to do a parachute jump.:(
Btw, that was 8 years ago, and I was still able to walk with just one stick in those days.

Bluedog great to see you back; not so great about not being able to eat what you want.

Gotta run - haven't started my Flylady list for today yet.

    Later, folks.

How are you finding the Fly lady thing LW ? Ive looked at it a couple of times and even did the shiney sink thing for a while, but couldnt keep it up so Ive never taken it any further. I just try to keep into some sort of routine with the housework now and do a bit each day however small. I was worried it would be too much for me.

Just back from the hand specialist with eldest...eldest can now sport a lovely thumb splint thing for when he is writing and a letter is going to be forwarded on for the exam board to ask for a laptop during his upcoming GCSE's.

Apparently eldest scores 7/9 on the Beighton score...my score was higher!

On the downside, we are going to have to ask to see our local physio as his knees keep buckling and we haven't been referred up to the main hospital for those..only his shoulders, wrists and hands.

I must admit to feeling a little rough today, not sure if I have picked up a bug or what but I am absolutely exhausted, keep having weird head things (can't really explain it but it used to happen a lot when I was young - I kept thinking back then I had epilepsy!) and not quite connected.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

He can also get extra time if his typing speed is slower than what it would be to write.

I don't do the American Flylady website - that's waaay too scary for me! I couldn't get past the insistence of putting shoes on.... I never, ever wear anything on my feet at home, not even slippers, because they hurt.

I follow the thread on the Old Style board here on MSE, and find it very helpful. You get given a room a day to do, and 3 levels of tasks - if you're having a bad day, or just plain busy, you just do level 1, or as much as you can cope with.

I find it good, because I always used to go at it like a bull at a gate, and end up flat on my back for the rest of the week; also, I always started with the lounge, then the kitchen, and so on, so the tail end of the house (bedroom, spare room) rarely got done properly, if at all. This way, each room gets a bit of a go, in turn.

That sounds more realistic than the site, I'll have to go and have a look. I must admit if Im feeling well enough I do tend to overdo it a bit which I think we all probably do.
Ive had a splitting headache all day and my hips are painful so I havnt done much housework today.
    Hope everyones ok

  • Just a quickie - spoke to Consultant's secretary yesterday - very apologetic but all consultants are on leave for Feb and March and there are currently no outpatient clinics planned so no appointment dates to be offered. Not impressed so have started making noises of complaint to various people inclduing MP - not MP for me so much but to protect other people who maybe are afraid to make a noise iyswim. Am still lurking everyso often but on yet more antiflybotics and feeling a bit grim.

Have you been back to your GP, to check whether you should be made to wait that long? Having no doctors is completely unacceptable.

But, of course, if MPs get involved, maybe they'll suddenly find a way to send you somewhere else/better.

Hello everybody, I've been up since 4am - slept on sofa again, fell asleep around 9.30pm in the middle of watching a programme!

I had a phonecall yesterday afternoon about a follow up appointment with the surgeon and wanted to know whether I wanted an appointment for this morning 10.15am! So I'll be going there this morning. I'll be going there again on Saturday for an MRI ... it's all so exhausting for me.

Hi Puzzledbubbles, so I'm taking double the dose you are on and it's not affecting me like it is you even with everything else I'm taking! Well, whatever you do, don't just stop taking them without speaking to your GP. Are they helping with your pain? I'm not finding them all that effective - I still have constant pain, although at times I feel it eases.

I am very worried on how they will look at this - especially after they awarded me HRM and LCR indefinitely this time, but it's out of my hands now!

Well, I hope everyone has a good day today.:)

    Hey TOBRUK,

Hope that the appointment went ok!

I seem to be really suffering with them, i feel much better as the day goes on then around 11 i seem to be getting really sick feeling that passes after a couple of hours. I think it is helping the pain a little although i am still getting the shooting pain.

Am off to the Hosp tomos for a ultrasound and then have a call booked with the Dr on Monday so will bring it up with her then and hope she has something to fix the pain.

Hope the DLA stuff all goes ok, i am very lucky and dont have to apply for that so am unable to offer advice but am sending good vibes :)

    Puzzled x
