The meeting about the trip was only last night, so I have not had a chance to speak to anyone yet....we don't see the paediatrician until May, although she is a general paediatrician rather than a specialist as he is still at the diagnostic stage.

We are up at the hospital tomorrow for the hand specialist and then in a couple of weeks for the shoulder specialist and physio, so could always ask them what they think about it. It's a shame we (well me, eldest had the letter but hadn't looked at it!) didn't know about this trip when we went to see the ortho or we could have asked him! Not sure the geneticist would be able to help either....grrr, we need the rhuematologist referral!

Sue, could you call the ortho's secretary and ask that way?

Hi, some of you know me and some of you dont, I used to be on the old Fibro thread and havn't been around properly since it vanished. At first I had trouble keeping up with everyone as we all seemed to be all over the place on different threads, then so many bad things started to happen in my life, I couldn't bear to talk to anyone about it all and started to get depressed so I avoided this site and most of my RL friends and family too. Last week I was at my lowest point, but I had a lovely weekend away in the country with a friend, its done me the world of good, the problems are still there, but Im feeling much more positive now. I didnt plan to come back on here tonight, but somehow just ended up here, Ive tried to catch up a bit by reading the last few pages, but Im in a lot of pain at the moment and am having trouble concentrating. LW Im sorry for your loss, it's so sad, I dread the day my little dog Diamond leaves us, she's my baby. My dh looked after her while I was away at the weekend, apparently she sulked and refused to eat until I came home bless her.

Anyway, I'm happy to be back amongst my friends and Im looking forward to making new friends too. I dont want to go into everything thats happened recently, it's just too depressing, I'm just counting my blessings, and I know there are so many people who are worse off than me out there.

  • Pleased to see ya back Suep. I've been guilty of neglecting people a bit but someone made me see that sometimes you just need to take time out to support yourself and can't "give" to others and that true friends will still be around when you feel up to it again.

I hope this is the start of more positive times for you.

Hello everybody, I've been up since 4am - slept on sofa again, fell asleep around 9.30pm in the middle of watching a programme!

I had a phonecall yesterday afternoon about a follow up appointment with the surgeon and wanted to know whether I wanted an appointment for this morning 10.15am! So I'll be going there this morning. I'll be going there again on Saturday for an MRI ... it's all so exhausting for me.

Hi Puzzledbubbles, so I'm taking double the dose you are on and it's not affecting me like it is you even with everything else I'm taking! Well, whatever you do, don't just stop taking them without speaking to your GP. Are they helping with your pain? I'm not finding them all that effective - I still have constant pain, although at times I feel it eases.

Hi bigzippy, nice to see you! Hope you managed to sleep a little - you must have been falling asleep as I was waking up HA!

Well, I'm not sure if I did the right thing writing to them although I do believe that I do need care in accordance to their guidelines and can't understand how they could drop the care rate as there was no change from my previous application, I am actually worse - as a result I have to sell the house to buy a bungalow and move near my family so that I can receive more help with my care.

I am very worried on how they will look at this - especially after they awarded me HRM and LCR indefinitely this time, but it's out of my hands now!

Well, I hope everyone has a good day today.:)
  • tobruk I think anytime we stick our head above the parapet regarding DLA etc, we get anxious. I can't see how they could do anything other than increase your award as anything else would be indefensible. I know it won't really stop the anxiety etc, but please try to put it out of your mind? Put it in a box tucked away in the back of your consciousness until whenever or you'll drive yourself crazy. anxiety makes us stiffen up and hold our muscles rigid which can lead to increased pain too.

Regarding the outbound trip, sue. I think it would be an incredible experience for him - if he is well enough. I hope consultanbt etc can help you come to a decision about it.

I once expressed a desire to take part in something like that and Rheumi looked at me like I was mad! *g*

    On Dad chauffeur duty today.

Hi Cwta, and thank you. Yes you are right ofcourse regarding the whole DLA thing it does make us all anxious! Although I missed the deadline (because of my op and recovery) to respond to the award letter, although they had awarded HRM and LCR Indefinitely, I did feel I had to write to them in the end. If they were to tell me it was too late to disagree, I also wrote about changes to my circumstances - stating more care needs which as a result I had to move neaer to family and needed to move to a bungalow. Anyway, I just have to wait for that brown envelope to drop through the letterbox!!

I shall try to put it at the back of my mind, as you say, it does affect you. Well I shall get the result of the CT scan today when I see the surgeon. At least that will be something out of the way!! I really don't mind seeing him at all - you know whenever you go to these outpatient clinics to see a consultant and you get nervous because they aren't very nice. Well, this surgeon is so different, he comes into the room and greets you like an old friend - "hello Llinos, it's nice to see you, how are you" etc! Oh yes he treats patients as individuals and is sincere with it. Others I see could learn a hell of a lot from him.
