Glad to know your son is ok after that unfortunate incident. As for you clunking yours back, and I can't comment on the rest of your post ... and yanking ...

HI All,
Sorry, i seeem to only come and visit when i need advice or to moan so will start by saying Hi
Sue, hope your Sons are feeling better now and that you manage to avoid a few stays in hopsital for a little while
Jen , congratulations on being an aunty!! Hope all is well
Tobruk, hope you are feeling a bit better today and that you manage to get some more sleep tonight!
Mousie i dont really feel i can offer any advice becuase im going to ask about pain killers in a minute lol, but good luck with what ever route you choose
Lonewolf, i am sorry for your loss and send hugs
Anyone i have missed please forgive me and i hope that you are well.
Now on to the advice
I believe i have a trapped nerve in my back causing pain in my clicky hip (as i call it) and am in agony, so have started taking my Dihydrocidine again, i have the 12 hour slow release tablets and because the drowsyness really seems to hit me i take one at night.
but, i still feel pants, does anyone else know how long it would take to get rid of the drowsiness while still taking them?
Is there a magic number of a week or two weeks for example? I really didnt take them for long last time, mainly becuase i was on so many tablets i couldnt see the woods for the trees so cut down to taking just the anti inflammatories and the stomach acid regulators.
I have got amitriptaline as well but take that very, very rarely because again it knocks me for six.
So, just wondering, if i perservere with the dihyrocodine will i eventually get used to them and not feel drowsy any more?
I drive a lot, OH lives in Northampton and i drive there from Cheltenham most weekends and then back on a Monday morning so really cant be drowsy for that!
Hope no one minds me popping in!
Thanks

Hi Puzzledbubbles, Last night I did sleep a little better/longer but not feeling all that great today!
I have been taking D.H.C. continus - Dihydrocidine for 4 weeks now but they haven't affected me at all! I also take Amitriptyline 10mg a night - no affect on me that I've noticed!
What strength of D.H.C. are you taking? I take 120mg twice a day (every 12 hours) so I don't know if you are taking stronger dose. I am taking paracetemol 500mg - 8 a day alongside them. I also take Pregabalin 600mg a day and Baclofen 30mg a day and Lansoprazol 30mg at night.0 -

Certainly not! Everyone here I have found very welcoming and supportive ... nice to see you.:)
How is everyone else today? Hope you all have a lovely day despite the rain!!0 -
Rain? It's lovely here! (You watch, it will start to pour down now I have said that).
We are not too bad, youngest is off school at the moment with an upset tummy which started with a migraine yesterday morning, he seemed better yesterday evening so I asked my parents to look after him (and his slightly older brother) whilst I took eldest to a meeting at school....came back to the news that he projectile vomited all over their bathroom! Youngest has never projectile vomited, it has always been the other two who did that (loose valves)....my mum was not best pleased.
I'm in a bit of a quandry this morning, eldest has a chance to go to Honduras next year with the school on a research thing, all monies raised by sponsorship etc but my concern is the level of fitness required and of course his current diagnosis (HMS with possible Marfans or EDS). The first stage of the trip will be set in a jungle 1700metres up and lots of walking/climbing and it concerns me what the impact will be on his knees (they are very loose) plus they also have to carry heavy rucksacks which is no problem once it is on his back but the lifting of a shopping bag can have his shoulders sublux, let alone a heavy rucksack.
So far he has poo poohed my concerns and is hell bent on going as he doesn't see himself as having a disability, more of an extra ability...but what if his joints decide to go completely out of kilter while he is stuck in the jungle, 4 hours walking distance from the next village?
Or am I just being a normal worry wart parent and should just let him get on with things? We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Sue - what does your son's consultant think about him going?

Hi all.
Sorry, been in lurk mode; by the time I've done my Flylady tasks (weekly thread on the Old Style board) and my WiiFit+ I'm too cream crackered to string a coherent sentence togather.:(
SingleSue tell me to mind my own business, as I'm not a parent, but I agree with sh1305; run the idea of the trip past the lad's consultant. Hope younger lad is feeling better now.
Puzzled you don't need to apologise, you're always welcome here.
Tobruk no rain here - yet. It is more overcast than yesterday, though.
Trialia hope you're all settled into your lovely new home now - imho absence of carpet is more than made up for by absence of toxic housemates.:D
CwtA did you get onto the consultant's secretary? Any joy?
*waves* to everyone else; hope all is well with all the Cafe folks.:)If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

The meeting about the trip was only last night, so I have not had a chance to speak to anyone yet....we don't see the paediatrician until May, although she is a general paediatrician rather than a specialist as he is still at the diagnostic stage.
We are up at the hospital tomorrow for the hand specialist and then in a couple of weeks for the shoulder specialist and physio, so could always ask them what they think about it. It's a shame we (well me, eldest had the letter but hadn't looked at it!) didn't know about this trip when we went to see the ortho or we could have asked him! Not sure the geneticist would be able to help either....grrr, we need the rhuematologist referral! We made it! Just a quickie - spoke to Consultant's secretary yesterday - very apologetic but all consultants are on leave for Feb and March and there are currently no outpatient clinics planned so no appointment dates to be offered. Not impressed so have started making noises of complaint to various people inclduing MP - not MP for me so much but to protect other people who maybe are afraid to make a noise iyswim. Am still lurking everyso often but on yet more antiflybotics and feeling a bit grim.
Hugs to all - I do read, just can't formulate brain enough to comment.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -

I will check the strenght tonight, im taking one every 12 hours (but dr said if i want to just have 1 every 24 that might work better on the tired front)
as the day goes on im feeling better and brighter so hopefully another couple of days and ill be used to it.
Thanks for the reasurance0
